The Space

The Schoolhouse is a beautiful and unique building built in 1895. The house is set on 75 m2 of lawn and gardens, surrounded by trees with a back drop of snow-capped mountains. Every window looks out to a breath taking view.

As the name suggests "Ecole de Taconnaz" was once the village of Taconnaz's Schoolhouse for the local children between the ages of 5 and 12. The ground floor (now the lounge room) was the main class and assembly room with another classroom on the 1st floor (now bedrooms and apartment).
After the closure of the school in the 1990s it tastefully renovated keeping its cozy character and charm with the novel approach of Alpine paraphernalia and use of the original school furniture in its construction. For example you will find ice axes and advertizing posters hung on the walls and the mezzanine floors are made from the schools desks!

There are magnificent views from the lounge's large windows and terrace. Perfect for admiring the breath taking scenery.

The Schoolhouse sleeps a maximum of 20 people with the option of renting individual floors.

In the Schoolhouse there is 1 completely self-contained apartment that has an equipped modern kitchen, bathroom, 2 bedrooms that sleep up to 6 people and a fast free WIFI connection.

There is an abundance of hot water and the house is central heated. For a little more ambiance there is a wood fire in the ground floor lounge room.

The local supermarket/shopping centre is also 5 minutes by car and 15 minutes walk away.

  • We had a wonderful time staying in Aaron's place in Chamonix. He picked us up from the train station and immediately got us set up with gear and advice on where to ski and hang out. He was incredibly accommodating and was a pleasure to talk to.

The lodging itself was incredibly picturesque. The house is an old creamery and is filled with cabin-like decorations from floor to ceiling. The location was wonderful and it was easy to get to all of the ski hills.

I would highly recommend staying here to anyone with a sense of adventure and love of the mountains! It was a perfect stop.

I’m relaxed, friendly and I love to help. I’m a traveller and have been for 15 years. I enjoy visiting new places and showing people the places I love the most. Chamonix has been my "home away from homes" quite a few times over the years and I have decided to make it my base camp from now on. The mountains provided me with inspiration and enormous beauty. I’m a keen skier, snowboarder, climber, trail runner, speedwing and paraglider pilot. Its a joy to wake up amongst the stunning back drop of the Chamonix valley and no matter the weather or season there is always something to do. Feel free to message me if you would like to know anything about the accommodation, activities or Chamonix in general. Im here to help. ABOUT LEANNE: I met Leanne when I was working for the Chamonix Red Cross. I found her in a parking lot where she had been staying for a few days. She was warming herself over a small gas cooker, which wouldn't have lasted the night so I took her in, fed her and gave her shelter. This is where our story starts. Leanne was a Scottish Refugee seeking asylum in France after being persecuted for her alternative lifestyle and dirty hair. After a month of retraining and 13 bottles of "Head and Shoulders" Leanne was integrated into the general population and started working as a gypsy handler/keeper. Leanne's time wandering the globe as a "Vagabond" aided her in recognising their needs. She soon became one of the stars of the village and her work was highly sort after. Leanne and I started Chalet Inora as a way for us to have a better lifestyle, showcase our skills and provide a warm and caring environment for whom we like to call "Independent Travellers". We both hope you choose to stay with us! Chalet Inora (its the Bees ankles)
