Our Yurt PADMA is a haven for anyone who would like to experience a peaceful, sustainable vacation. We are pleased to offer a serene environment with a spectacular ocean, mountain and sunset view. Our artisan-built, timber-framed, yurt platform and wrap around deck is situated on a moss bluff. It is surrounded by large Douglas Fir and Western Cedar trees. Our handmade furniture and simple living designs will surely enhance your experience.
We speak English and German. We offer locally made preserves and fresh in-season organic produce. On-site gardening workshops, nature walks and an abundance of clean air will enhance your rest and (website hidden)-charge yourself with PADMA.
Organic choices for you and the environment.
PADMA is located on Cortes Island, British Columbia, and is well known for its many stunning beaches, gigantic forests, and a vibrant community. There are many awe inspiring beaches and lagoons where you can collect oysters and cook them on a fire. We can facilitate wildlife walks and set you up with several ocean and land adventure tours. There is plenty to see and do here on the island and a vehicle is highly recommended. We can facilitate transportation if requested.
We call our 12 acre property “Greenland” and we believe in composting, organic gardening and most of all healthy bees. Our home is located in the valley and PADMA sits on the bluff with its own access road. Our cultivated land is very enchanting, green and lush with flowers growing out of enormous stumps. Two vegetable gardens provide an abundance of tasty produce. Our orchard has old established
fruit trees and berries.
Think luxury, remote and camping, three words which you might not bring together easily.
Breathe clean air, eat organic in-season produce, rest, read, listen to real silence, be aware of the environment and of nature itself. Catch a glimpse of bald eagles, hear the night sounds of barred owls. Experience sustainable living with us.
Handmade double bed with cotton bedding, blankets, duvet, pillows, mosquito net, towels, functional kitchen with water, Fisher wood burning stove, skylight dome, natural solar sky arch lighting, kerosene lantern, candles. There is no electricity at the yurt, but we can facilitate with our re-charging station.
Located in the rainforest of Beautiful British Columbia our yurt PADMA offers peace, tranquility and privacy.
Set on a bluff our yurt platform was hand crafted with wood harvested from our property. This structure is raised 8 feet off the ground and the large deck offers ocean, mountain and stunning sunset view. The sound of bird song in the trees, white tailed deer passing by on their daily route, warm dappled light falling through the forest canopy onto the mossy rocks gives this secluded spot a unique atmosphere in which to unwind and relax.
Sleeping in a yurt is a truly magical experience. With stars shining through the dome there will be no need for television. Chop wood, carry water. Our wood burning stove will keep you cozy and our spacious yurt with all its handmade furniture has a special rustic charm as well a basic level of comfort not normally associated with camping. There is a composting toilet (yes – it’s perfectly pleasant to use).
Our facilities are simple and meet the needs of our guests.

Unique place, awesome place and friendly host. Short: absolutely worth a visit. Thanks inga
Listen to the forest, the wind, the sound of your fire in the stove.
Listen to the birds, the sun, the rain and enjoy!
If you are with that, padma yurt is the right place, not for overnight, it is to stay!
Although we just met Inga & Natasha at the end, we feel a deep respect for these two women, for their work, their creativity, their feeling for nature.
Absolute recommended, thanks a lot!
The yurt and surrounding deck create a fantastic place . The relaxing island athmosphere adds to the experience.
Since we did not have a car with us, we hitch hiked, which went fine and let us meet some of the local people.
Padma yurt ranks among the top places we ever stayed.
I loved PADMA. Inga and Natasha have created something incredibly special on Cortes. Evidence of care and respect for their environment is to be found everywhere you look - PADMA was built out of a great love for this corner of paradise.
The experience begins the moment you turn off the gravel track to their land where they greet you - instead of showing you round the yurt they quietly leave you to find your way along the forest path to unwrap the delights of PADMA for yourself in your own time, letting you bond with the place. It's a lovely touch that only goes a little way to convey how warm, thoughtful and deeply impressive Inga and Natasha are.
PADMA is totally private, and I mean PRIVATE. The silence and deep inky blackness at night is comforting and profound: PADMA is not built in the forest - it IS the forest... Inga and Natasha were on hand if we ever needed anything (thanks to an ingenious messaging system..) but they instinctively know why their guests are here and leave you to wander and live freely..
Inga and Natasha have really thought long and hard of everything to make your stay ultra comfortable (I can't better their own description of their property and its features, it's totally spot-on) - and PADMA itself gently makes you think too, about what you throw away and what you waste needlessly. Simple things like fetching firewood, showering using solar-heated water and tending the Fisher stove all bring you into contact with the land and with the forest.
PADMA is one of the most restful places that I've ever stayed in - I slept so deeply..
Stay here (if you're lucky enough to), leave the white noise of your everyday life behind for a while and hear yourself truly for the first time in years.
Highly recommended accommodation and island. The hosts are generous and welcoming, while giving ample privacy. The yurt is located up its own private lane, very secluded. Great deck and view. The details in the design of the space are useful and thoughtful. Bring warmer clothes for evening, as it can get windy up there, even on hot days. The wood burning stove does a great job of taking off any chill.
A wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate, while living lightly on the land.
