Five minutes from the lovely town of San Ramón, our modern, teak and concrete B&B is nestled in the coffee plantations, overlooking the mountains to the east. We offer our guests fresh, Costa Rican-style breakfasts with our home-grown organic coffee.

The space

Welcome to Casa Amanecer!

A full-service Bed and Breakfast in the lovely little town of San Ramon, Alajuela, Costa Rica.We invite the Costa Rican traveler into our teak and concrete abode, nestled in the beautiful coffee-planted mountains just ten minutes north of San Ramon.

The name “Casa Amanecer” means “Sunrise House”. The rustic modern structure (published in architecture magazine Su Casa, March 2009) faces east, where amazing sunrises may be taken in, along with the breath-taking panoramic view of the mountains.

Come relax, hook up to Wi-fi, peruse our library and get a taste of the best that Costa Rica has to offer. We offer vegetarian meals and unique tour packages. (Meat dishes served upon request.)

It is our belief that one can live comfortably while at the same time care for our Earth. We at Casa Amanecer are very conscious of our health and our environment.

We are looking forward to hosting you!

Guest access

You have access to a nice, peaceful covered veranda just off of your room with private entrance. Our guests enjoy sitting here and enjoying the mountain view while they have breakfast or relax during the day with a book. You also have access to the living area with a comfy sofa, lending library and souvenirs.

Interaction with guests

Our good friend and associate Helen and staff will receive you and make you feel right at home. They love to converse with you and give you travel suggestions. Their first language is Spanish, so feel free to practice with them!

Casa Amanecer exceeded our expectations. It's a beautiful, modern, and eco-friendly spot with a spectacular view of the valley. Mornings here were the best-- we woke up to bird songs and beautiful sunrises we watched from Casa Amanecer's best feature-- it's patio. We enjoyed delicious coffee and amazing breakfasts prepared by a friendly and attentive staff. It was the perfect place to begin and end busy days exploring Costa Rica's central valley.

We were looking for a tranquil place to unwind and relax after a week of traveling. Casa Amanecer B&B was just that. I would highly recommend staying here and wish we had booked 2 nights. Eating a delicious breakfast on the veranda was the perfect way to start the day. We enjoyed talking to the other guests. Helen does a great job of running the B&B. She is very thoughtful. We would definitely stay here again if flying into or out of San Jose.

We had a great experience at Casa Amanecer! Our host, Helen was so accommodating and friendly. When we had a very early side trip to Manuel Antonio Park planned, she had coffee and breakfast waiting for us a 6am. The rooms were clean and comfortable (loved the shower). The climate in San Ramon is virtually perfect! Chris, you built a gem!

Loved staying at Casa Amencer. Beautiful home, yard, and host who greeted us, Javier. We had a great time talking with Javier and he and Christopher did everything possible to help make alternative arrangements when we thought we would have to extend our stay due to the volcanic eruption. Everything about this place was amazing.

With it's close proximity to the airport, beautiful Casa Amanacer was the perfect place to begin our Costa Rica adventure. Our host, Helen, couldn't have been more gracious. She was warm and kind and helpful. The setting was sublime, perched high on a hill overlooking the coffee plantations; the rooms clean, tasteful, simple, and comfortable; breakfast plentiful and delicious. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

Helen was the perfect host! Immediately upon arriving at the delightful and spacious home just far enough from the city of San Ramon, Helen made us feel at home. We truly could not have asked for a better host. Helen gave us great ideas about places in the area to visit. Her homemade, fresh breakfasts were among the best we had in Costa Rica. Our room was a great size, as was as the bathroom, which was beautifully decorated. We can't wait to return to Costa Rica and enjoy la Pura Vida at Casa Amanecer once again!
