Rustic ski cabin in the woods, near the Deschutes River.
The Old Buzzard Inn is a vacation cabin located about 20 miles south of Bend, Oregon. Perfect for a ski trip with Mt Bachelor about 20 miles away. Located 7 miles south of the Village of Sunriver, which offers shops, restaurants, grocery stores, sight seeing, golfing, biking and many other fun family activities.
The cabin is in the quiet neighborhood of River Meadows, set in a beautiful forest with the DesChutes river winding throughout. The River Meadows neighborhood does not have stores or a village. The home is not water-front. The river is a few minutes walk away.
This is an older, cozy, inviting, rustic family cabin. There are three bedrooms with queen size beds. Two bathrooms. It has vintage ski lodge feel. A few amenities include shared community pool (available during Summertime only, with finicky hours of operation), fireplace, paved bike paths, two funky resident cruiser bikes, river access, and free parking for about four cars. Prepare to unplug as the electronics are very low fidelity and there is no internet access as of yet and no cable TV. The cabin is quaint and removed from hustle & bustle. You'll fall in love with the natural beauty that abounds.
Absolutely NO SMOKING please! Please be respectful to the neighbors. This is a quiet setting. Leave no perishable foods behind. Unfortunately we do not allow pets.
Greta's spot was perfect for the spontaneous weekend in bend. Snow wasn't there but the cabin is exactly as described. Incredibly clean, comfy beds and great location. Had a great time and will be back!
We were delighted with our experience in Greta's home. It was perfect for our family of 6 to celebrate the holidays. Everything was exactly as described. The kitchen was very well appointed and the space was cozy but spacious enough for 6 people. I would highly recommend this home.
The home was just as advertised and extremely clean. We had a great stay and had all of the amenities of home. The neighborhood is quaint and somewhat suburban feeling. Our host, Greta, was accommodating and answered all of our questions in a timely manner.
Fantastic! Everything was as described, and the neighborhood was charming--if somewhat suburban-feeling. The rooms were exceedingly clean, the kitchen well-stocked with good cooking equipment, and the wood stove provided endless homey ambiance. Thanks, Greta!
Just as advertised. Very nice neighborhood/community. Home was well stocked and we were very comfortable. Greta replied to our booking request and a follow up question right away.
Really awesome cabin for a weekend getaway central to lots of great activities to explore. The cabin worked as our home base while we checked out Crater Lake, the Deschutes, Smith Rock, and other creeks/hikes/fishing spots in the area. Feels like an old family cabin, as described, except with amazing mattresses and fancy, fluffy down comforters. The kitchen was also super well-stocked with supplies, making it easy to stay in and cook most of our meals. A bit unclear from the description, this cabin is in a little suburban neighborhood and was a tad less isolated than we'd hoped for-- there's a walking path in the backyard that is well-used by the neighbors, and almost as soon as we arrived the lady next door reprimanded us for having our dog off-leash. That said, we would definitely stay in the cabin again, and really enjoyed our experience.
The house was very clean and very wonderful beautiful area it's worth the experience
