Holiday on our private estate on the famous Sayan Valley edge, just a few minutes from Ubud town. We have a remarkable collection of bamboo buildings as well as antique all teak bridal houses from Java, each with individual design characteristics that cocoon guests in comfort in a staggeringly beautiful all natural environment
We collected these houses over several years, originally for our friends and families to stay with us. Our estate is now available for all to enjoy!
Ubud has now become famous as glamorous destination for business people, authors, cyclists, walkers, and many others. Come and find out why!
Our Old Rice Paddy House
Our old rice paddy House is for those wanting to have a direct experience with Nature. It used to be located 8 feet above a rice field. Now, surrounded by the sound of running water feeding the natural pool, our house has a perfect, bird’s-eye view of the Sayan Valley and delicious gardens. And while the exterior is Nature, the interior is Heaven, featuring lavish rugs from Morocco, fabrics from Indonesia, lacquerware from Burma, and well appointed antique furnishings.
Please note this house is large enough to accommodate a second bed if needed to allow 4 people to sleep comfortably. Extra charges apply.
The bathroom runs both hot and cold water, and the House is equipped with a safety box, a mini bar fridge, AC, and in room Estate intercom. The house water supply is triple filtered using a colloidal silver and reverse osmosis process. A local laundry service is available to guests, and motorbikes and local mobile phones are also available for rent, and a Yoga service is also available. Our reception also offers exclusive local excursions, and guests can also enjoy a massage or body treatment on our Estate. Our Estate has 24 hour security.
Our on-site kitchen prepares delicious Indonesian food, from fresh ingredients. Our breakfast is also complimentary, and includes fresh roasted organic local coffee for cappuccinos which we can deliver to your house. At 4pm, complimentary tea is served on our sunset Bale
Please note our estate is very popular and operates at a
high occupancy rate. If this listing is not available, please do not despair! I have 10 other listings all on this same estate, and, depending on the season, the chances are good of an alternative, or, as we often do, arrange a house switch during your stay such that we can accomodate you for the full duration of your stay. You never know, you may even get an upgrade! Look to the lower right of your airbnb screen and scroll down to see 'my other listings', and then click 'see all'. You will also see there some fabulous, one of a kind, 3 and 4 storey all Bamboo Houses, perfect for a large family, or a group of several adults. Links further below
Our Natural Pool.....
Is filled by a natural river, uses local lava stones for filtering all things green, and is surrounded by large, beautiful stones from the mountains.
WIFI and IPADs
Whilst we love nature, we still like to connect to the internet: Our estate is all wireless. We also have IPADs for loan which contain all kinds of information about us, including our menus and history, as well as lots of interesting places to visit in Bali
If you are wondering if this my estate, it is not! However, be rest assured, the owners have personally authorised me to list their estate here. I also have some spectacular one of a kind bamboo houses about 20 mins from Ubud. You can paste the below airbnb links to your browser, or scroll lower to the right side of your screen and see 'My other listings', and click 'See All'

We had one of the best experiences of travel, staying here at Bambu Indira, in one of the traditional former wedding houses (we were in the 'Padi House' or 'Old Wooden Rice House.'
Upon first arrival from touristy but fun Kuta, we were a bit unsettled as to what we had gotten ourselves into. It is a strikingly unusual property with few reference points in my experience...and whether this was a resort or secluded camp questionable. Turns out it is a bit of both...a facade (rich and deep, mind you) of rural/simple living, with a highly professional and high-end hotel-type management happening in the background...Rustic cabin, gorgeous/private/unbstructed view on the lengthy (perfect for laps) natural lagoon with Tarzan swing and coconut tree you can climb and jump off, creaky floors, wooden four poster bed with mosquito netting (only one heard in four days), attached but outdoor shower/toilet/sink. Yet air con, perfect plumbing (strength, hot water), free good WiFi, and anything you want quickly and efficiently at your beck and call (coffee a couple of hours before the restaurant opens? No problem...brought by local staff in traditional garb to your patio quickly, discreetly, so politely. Any timeyou want to eat in private on the 'africa deck' (bistro-like table and chairs of creaky old wood, on an ancient deck propped on the edge of the ravine) you simply pre-arrange (even an hour or so) and say 'we would like breakfast on the Africa deck', leave your order (even the night before) and it is there exactly on time, beautifully laid out, constant service (quiet and unseen). And the "romantic dinner" is a well-priced (25$ pp, fixed menu) dinner on the deck, flower pedals surrounding, candles lit, the whole yard.
Hotel will arrange great transport around town (good guide, Manek, we had), any tours from any group (choose the group yourself, they don't offer much by way of opinion and may not know your particular interests), etc. Games and books available, all for reading anywhere in the beautiful grounds or your private house.
See real 'Bali' and come to Ubud. And consider this place for sure.
A couple of families were there when we were, but it was totally private, quiet, you would hardly know. All are friendly, of course, and even the kitchen staff (mainly Diane from front desk) asked for advice on cooking a north- american-style pork BBQ rib for their upcoming rib night (they used my recipe with some adaptation!).
Having grown up spending months of each year, for 16 years, in a rustic (no electricity or plumbing or car access) cabin, this experience brought back incredible feelings of nostalgia. With all of the luxury trappings we have been privileged to experience as all of us who travel should remind ourselves of.
Andrew, through Air BnB was exceptionally helpful, quick to respond, always communicative.
Can't wait to go back but it will likely be a long time (Bali is a long way from Vancouver, Canada!).
Bambu Indah is stunning.
