The Space

Holiday on our private estate on the famous Sayan Valley edge, just a few minutes from Ubud town. We have a remarkable collection of bamboo buildings as well as antique all teak bridal houses from Java, each with individual design characteristics that cocoon guests in comfort in a staggeringly beautiful all natural environment
We collected these houses over several years, originally for our friends and families to stay with us. Our estate is now available for all to enjoy!
Ubud has now become famous as glamorous destination for business people, authors, cyclists, walkers, and many others. Come and find out why!

Our Cheery Yellow House

The cheeriest of all our wooden houses, the Yellow House house is so named because of its yellow painted exterior. The centerpiece of this house is the hand carved heart above the door still proudly exhibiting its conception date of 1829, revealing the love and lasting care that it was built with from the Nobleman to his Princess Bride.
Enjoy the breezes from the front porch and sit 2 meters from poolside with a view of the Sayan Valley. The furnishings are comfortable, romantic, and charming; perfect for the happy couple or cheerful writer who likes to be in the heart of things appreciating the history and warmth of a house well loved.

The bathroom runs both hot and cold water, and the House is equipped with a safety (email hidden) fridge, AC, and in room Estate intercom. The house water supply is triple filtered using a colloidal silver and reverse osmosis process. A local laundry service is available to guests, and motorbikes and local mobile phones are also available for rent, and a Yoga service is also available. The reception also offers exclusive local excursions, and guests can also enjoy a massage or body treatment on our Estate. The Estate has 24 hour security.

Home Cooking

Our on-site kitchen prepares delicious Indonesian food, from fresh ingredients. Our breakfast is also complimentary, and includes fresh roasted organic local coffee for cappuccinos which we can deliver to your house. At 4pm, complimentary tea is served on our sunset Bale

Special Note...
Please note our estate is very popular and operates at a
high occupancy rate. If this listing is not available, please do not despair! I have 10 other listings all on this same estate, and, depending on the season, the chances are good of an alternative, or, as we often do, arrange a house switch during your stay such that we can accomodate you for the full duration of your stay. You never know, you may even get an upgrade! Look to the lower right of your airbnb screen and scroll down to see 'my other listings', and then click 'see all'. You will also see there some fabulous, one of a kind, 3 and 4 storey all Bamboo Houses, perfect for a large family, or a group of several adults Links below

Our Natural Pool.....

Is filled by a natural river, uses local lava stones for filtering all things green, and is surrounded by large, beautiful stones from the mountains.

WIFI and IPADs

Whilst we love nature, we still like to connect to the internet: Our estate is all wireless. We also have IPADs for loan which contain all kinds of information about us, including our menus and history, as well as lots of interesting places to visit in Bali

If you are wondering if this my estate, it is not! However, be rest assured, the owners have personally authorised me to list their estate here. I also have some spectacular one of a kind bamboo houses about 20 mins from Ubud. You can paste the below airbnb links to your browser, or scroll lower to the right side of your screen and see 'My other listings', and click 'See All'

  • We had one of the best experiences of travel, staying here at Bambu Indira, in one of the traditional former wedding houses (we were in the 'Padi House' or 'Old Wooden Rice House.'

Upon first arrival from touristy but fun Kuta, we were a bit unsettled as to what we had gotten ourselves into. It is a strikingly unusual property with few reference points in my experience...and whether this was a resort or secluded camp questionable. Turns out it is a bit of both...a facade (rich and deep, mind you) of rural/simple living, with a highly professional and high-end hotel-type management happening in the background...Rustic cabin, gorgeous/private/unbstructed view on the lengthy (perfect for laps) natural lagoon with Tarzan swing and coconut tree you can climb and jump off, creaky floors, wooden four poster bed with mosquito netting (only one heard in four days), attached but outdoor shower/toilet/sink. Yet air con, perfect plumbing (strength, hot water), free good WiFi, and anything you want quickly and efficiently at your beck and call (coffee a couple of hours before the restaurant opens? No problem...brought by local staff in traditional garb to your patio quickly, discreetly, so politely. Any timeyou want to eat in private on the 'africa deck' (bistro-like table and chairs of creaky old wood, on an ancient deck propped on the edge of the ravine) you simply pre-arrange (even an hour or so) and say 'we would like breakfast on the Africa deck', leave your order (even the night before) and it is there exactly on time, beautifully laid out, constant service (quiet and unseen). And the "romantic dinner" is a well-priced (25$ pp, fixed menu) dinner on the deck, flower pedals surrounding, candles lit, the whole yard.

Hotel will arrange great transport around town (good guide, Manek, we had), any tours from any group (choose the group yourself, they don't offer much by way of opinion and may not know your particular interests), etc. Games and books available, all for reading anywhere in the beautiful grounds or your private house.

See real 'Bali' and come to Ubud. And consider this place for sure.

A couple of families were there when we were, but it was totally private, quiet, you would hardly know. All are friendly, of course, and even the kitchen staff (mainly Diane from front desk) asked for advice on cooking a north- american-style pork BBQ rib for their upcoming rib night (they used my recipe with some adaptation!).

Having grown up spending months of each year, for 16 years, in a rustic (no electricity or plumbing or car access) cabin, this experience brought back incredible feelings of nostalgia. With all of the luxury trappings we have been privileged to experience as all of us who travel should remind ourselves of.

Andrew, through Air BnB was exceptionally helpful, quick to respond, always communicative.

Can't wait to go back but it will likely be a long time (Bali is a long way from Vancouver, Canada!).

  • We can nothing but repeat, what a lot of the other posts say: Bamboo House is absolutely amazing!! Better than any picture can say. We really loved our stay and didn't want to leave after two nights. The sounds of nature (river, bugs) can be quite loud at night, but we liked it.
We enjoyed visiting the bamboo factory, another bamboo house across the river and the green school.
Eva Nirvana is an extremely friendly and warm person, very easy to communicate with and her answers through email were fast.
We would recommend the bamboo house to all nature and architecture lovers. Stay away, if the thought of a bat flying through your living room makes you shivering.

  • We, a family of 4, had the best vacation there. It was a full experience of nature, culture, and relaxation. The location of the house made this possible. It is a short distance away from town but sits on a cliff covered with tropical greenery. The house itself is a unique work of art done with impressive craftsmanship. The staff is super friendly and helpful when needed. We can't wait to go back to this green village to try other bamboo houses.

  • Wow this house really is amazing, almost everything is bamboo and where it isn't it's really cool like the taps which are made out of stones.
The bathrooms are all really unique like the one with the huge copper tub and the one built into the hillside.
All the staff were brilliant particularly Eva the customer relations manager and Ugi (no idea if that's how you spell it!). Nothing was too much bother for them. Our flight was at night and they let us stay as long as we liked the day we were checking out since there was no one in the day after.
My main disappointment was the pool, with 4 kids in the party and a freezing cold plunge pool it wasn't the best, there is a communal pool but again not brilliant.
The other downside is that it is really really remote which I guess would be a bonus for some but for us we would prefer shops or restaurants we could walk to. There was nothing, you need to go into Ubud (half an hour drive which costs $15 one way $25 return) each time. The Green Village does have a food service which you can eat by the main pool or have brought to your room. Prices are reasonable.
Just one other comment that this house is not suitable for young children, the stairs (and there are many) are open tread and access to the pool and raging river is not restricted.

  • My stay here was absolutely wonderful! The room was very clean and comfortable, the staff was outstanding and the food a delight. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to Ubud or surrounding areas. As a first time traveller to Bali, I felt even more excited about my trip after arriving to this beautiful resort. Thank you for memories of a lifetime!

  • We had an absolutely amazing time staying here! We originally planned to stay for just 5 days and ended up staying for 10! I'm sure that that in itself speaks volumes. There was a double booking mishap for the last two nights of our first 5 days, which initially left us slightly annoyed, but we ended up being "upgraded" to the Kuno house, which I actually did like a little better, so we continued the extension of our stay there, even at full price. :) All of the teak bridal houses are so lovely and unique, and the views on the property are insane...pretty much everything there is beautiful. The staff were all so sweet, helpful and welcoming! I want to stay there forever and eat organic meals from their garden, get massages, go on hikes, take private yoga lessons with Budhi, and drink green juice and fresh young coconuts every day! Hahaha. Take me back, I'm ready!!! ;) Thanks for everything, guys! Hope to see you soon. :) xx

  • Bomboo fantastic!!!! Uniqe experience, must do. The perfection of the building is incredible, all electrical or water pipes are hidden inside the bamboo, which makes you experience a modern home, in a open and airy luxury bamboo hut. There is noise from the river, yes, and there is insects, yes. But that is part of the sensation of Green Village. Thanks.

The service is excellent, Eva, helped with everything, and made every suggestion possible. Big help. And our driver for daytrips was excellent to, thanks, Nyoman. You should go on the Bamboo factory tour, and meet fun and nice - Mirna, how can tell a lot.

Go there!!! Regards Jesper and Johnny
