Springwild is a three-acre property at the end of Boyer ln, where it's quiet. It's only five minutes from the Taos plaza but it feels like a world away, and twenty miles from the Taos ski Valley. It is surrounded by open fields that roll to the Rio Fernando and it's red willows, thousands of migratory birds and mountain views that will take your breath away. The colors at the edge of the day is what brings artists to Taos and the views of the Sangre de Cristo at sunset are incredible. Springwild is perfect for your family vacation or family reunion, wedding parties, couples getaway, friends retreat, or for an artist or writer looking for peace and quiet.
The house was built by artist, sculptor, architect, landscape artist, philosopher, gardener, dietitian, cook, poet and steward..... Malcolm Brown (phone number hidden)). He described life at SpringWild as an experiment in transition to a world of peace, happiness and fulfillment for all.
The unique structure of the Main House is brimming with detailed woodwork of a craftsman. This is not your ordinary house, the longer you're here the more you see. The whole south/east side of the house is windows. When the sun rises over the Canyon Saddle it brings the morning suns warm rays into the kitchen... a great morning spot.
The ground floor consists of the living area, full gourmet kitchen, one bathroom, one Master bedroom and the laundry room. Up a short flight of stairs next to the laundry room is a private bedroom with a view of everything, the kitchen garden, the pastures, the Rio, out to the mountains.
The second level of the house holds two beautiful built-in king size beds lined by windows overlooking the property. To get to the second level you climb a ladder type stairway with rallings. There is also a veranda on this level to sit and relax and enjoy the mountain view.
On the third level is a cozy queen-sized sleeping area surrounded by windows, perfect for star gazing. This level is also has a ladder type stairway. The kids love this room. From here a stairway leads up to a warm, single person meditation room.
Just a few steps outside the main house is the 'Bath House'. This is a full bathroom, heated and carpeted with a beautiful mosaic shower/tub, toilet, sink and a large dressing area. The Bath House is shared by other people living on the property.
There is a large area right outside the kitchen with a big table, umbrella, BBQ, bar area, croquet pitch and sunset Taos Mountain views. During the summer enjoy eggs from our chickens and fresh vegetables from our organic garden. You will love this enchanted place.
You are 5 minutes from town where there are lots of art galleries, shops and restaurants, and 20 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley. Close by is river rafting, hiking and hot air ballooning.

SpringWild is a beautiful house and in a great location for hiking, skiing, and enjoying the Taos area. Dan and Diane were wonderful hosts. Highly, highly recommended.
We went as part of a company working vacation thing and Dan and Diane were supremely hospitable, even with fresh cookies made when we got there. Throughout our stay we cooked on the regular in the awesome kitchen and had fires in the pit out back every night. Even got to hang out with the dogs that stay on the property. Everyone who lived in the little neighborhood were very friendly and gave us plenty of privacy.
The house was amazing as well. We had 5 guys out there and had no problems with space or anything. Super close to Taos as well, only a few minutes to the square. Ski Valley wasn't too far way either.
Overall, great hosts, awesome house, and a wonderful experience. We would definitely consider coming back!
I recently spent a weekend at the SprintWild Lush Oasis in Taos with six other people. We had a fantastic time staying in this cozy house. We were pleasantly surprised upon arriving at the house to see how unique it truly was -- the photos don't quite do it justice. Dan and Diane we're very nice and always close by if we needed anything or had any questions. I highly recommend that you stay at this house if you're looking for a fun and memorable experience -- you can even climb up to the roof and get a great view of the surrounding area!
If you really want the Taos experience, this place is a must go. Spring wild oasis is definitely one of a kind. Dan and Diane were both friendly and accommodating! We had a wonderful time!
SpringWild is a creative escape that is an experience we'll never forget with plenty of room for everyone to spread out to find alone time, or snuggle up together to make memories.
Dan and Diane are more than just gracious, friendly and kind hosts, they're new friends to us. When we came back from the slopes, Dan had a fire going and the colorful lanterns all lit up; it truly felt like coming home. Top that off with Diane's fabulous cookies and peanut brittle!
We will return to SpringWild for sure!!! Thank you again for the perfect vacation. Hugs from Texas, Amber, Luke, Sawyer & Seth
This place was incredible! The amount of detail put into the property was like little gifts of creativity for the eye and the imagination. You could see something new every time you looked around. The scenery was truly breath taking. It literally made you take in a deep breath and relax. Surroundings dictate the needs and staying there transformed my mindset of hurry, rush, technology hungry into relax, unwind, and soak up natures motivation to create and be. It was nice being close to town and yet once at the house you felt miles away. Dan and Diane were easy going, personable hosts with kind hearts. There is no doubt we will be going back for years to come.
I planned a Taos trip for an engagement reception. I had 2 large families to put up and I selected Springwild for one of them to stay. My family was first to lay eyes on the place and their reactions told me it is as it looks in the pictures. This is a one-of-a-kind piece of architectural art. The design and decoration typify what I think of 'eclectic Taos'. I appreciate seeing new ideas and just plain being inspired by a marvelous creation. That's what Springwild does. The house is set on a large property that butts up to the river so it's open space with views from the back toward the Taos Ski Valley. It was comfortable for 7 people to stay in 5 different beds. We hosted brunch for 14 people and there were enough dishes (and a dishwasher) and seating for everyone to be comfortable. The property is shared with Dan & Diane and one other guest house, but there's enough room to spread out and parking (we had 3-5 cars, depending). Dan & Diane are gracious and friendly. We enjoyed their company, but most of the time, they did their thing and we did ours. We would definitely come back to enjoy the artful house and the hospitality. Thank you Dan & Diane for a wonderful engagement experience!
We absolutely loved our stay at Dan and Diane's SpringWild. They were incredibly welcoming. The house was so comfortable for our small group of 3 but could have easily accommodated 10 more people. Although the setting is rustic (stunningly so; one of the most beautiful vistas of our stay in NM was through SpringWild's kitchen window) the house has all modern amenities.
We will for sure be back. Thanks Dan and Diane!!
