About this listing
Springwild is a unique home with lots of artistic detail work. Every time I look around I see something new. Sitting outside is so peaceful and relaxing, and the view of the mountains is spectacular.
Springwild is a three-acre property at the end of Boyer ln, where it's quiet. It's only five minutes from the Taos plaza but it feels like a world away, and twenty miles from the Taos ski Valley. It is surrounded by open fields that roll to the Rio Fernando and it's red willows, thousands of migratory birds and mountain views that will take your breath away. The colors at the edge of the day is what brings artists to Taos and the views of the Sangre de Cristo at sunset are incredible. Springwild is perfect for your family vacation or family reunion, wedding parties, couples getaway, friends retreat, or for an artist or writer looking for peace and quiet.
The house was built by artist, sculptor, architect, landscape artist, philosopher, gardener, dietitian, cook, poet and steward..... Malcolm Brown (phone number hidden)). He described life at SpringWild as an experiment in transition to a world of peace, happiness and fulfillment for all.
The unique structure of the Main House is brimming with detailed woodwork of a craftsman. This is not your ordinary house, the longer you're here the more you see. The whole south/east side of the house is windows. When the sun rises over the Canyon Saddle it brings the morning suns warm rays into the kitchen... a great morning spot.
The ground floor consists of the living area, full gourmet kitchen, one bathroom, one Master bedroom and the laundry room. Up a short flight of stairs next to the laundry room is a private bedroom with a view of everything, the kitchen garden, the pastures, the Rio, out to the mountains.
The second level of the house holds two beautiful built-in king size beds lined by windows overlooking the property. To get to the second level you climb a ladder type stairway with rallings. There is also a veranda on this level to sit and relax and enjoy the mountain view.
On the third level is a cozy queen-sized sleeping area surrounded by windows, perfect for star gazing. This level is also has a ladder type stairway. The kids love this room. From here a stairway leads up to a warm, single person meditation room.
Just a few steps outside the main house is the 'Bath House'. This is a full bathroom, heated and carpeted with a beautiful mosaic shower/tub, toilet, sink and a large dressing area. The Bath House is shared by other people living on the property.
There is a large area right outside the kitchen with a big table, umbrella, BBQ, bar area, croquet pitch and sunset Taos Mountain views. During the summer enjoy eggs from our chickens and fresh vegetables from our organic garden. You will love this enchanted place.
You are 5 minutes from town where there are lots of art galleries, shops and restaurants, and 20 minutes from the Taos Ski Valley. Close by is river rafting, hiking and hot air ballooning.
We are on the property and will be here to welcome you. We usually post a welcome note on the front door which is unlocked.

Dan & Diane were great, very friendly! We had a resort style set up waiting for us with snacks and white wine!
They are very available, but allowed us our space. Will definitely come back!
This listing description was accurate and the house was wonderful. Dan and Diane made us feel extremely welcome. The house and grounds are nothing short of a hidden treasure--absolutely wonderful. The personal concierge, Hobbes, was fantastic.
Dan and Diane, were wonderful hosts. I can not say enough about what a magical escape SpringWild is. It is a short drive into town, and yet on the property you feel like you are in a different world. The views are absolutely beautiful. The house is so quaint and fun. My daughter called it the "tree house". They are not joking when they say the upper levels are only accessible by ladder. We had a great time, and highly recommend it!
We were welcomed by Diane, and Hobbes, the dog, as soon as we arrived to Springwild. We can honestly say this was the coolest house we have ever been in, let alone stayed at. The house was immaculate and had everything we could have possibly needed. We couldn't imagine ever staying anywhere else when in Taos. The only very minor issue we'd like to point out is the condition of the road leading to the property, which is in poor condition and takes a few extra minutes to travel down. Still, the house was one of the great highlights of whole vacation!
Our family came to stay at Spring Wild for my fathers 60th Birthday celebration, BOY, what a perfect place to have discovered!
Listing description does not do this home justice, it is AMAZING! The 25-35 year olds in our group turned into big kids again, it was like climbing into a tree fort once you ascended into the upper levels. The location was blissful, far enough away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Incredibly relaxed, special, and breathtaking environment where family can be family :) Quiet and private.
Nice special touches, like fresh eggs right from the chicken coop out back (which doubled as the kitchen disposal, Dad had a BLAST giving them kitchen scraps)! We had a wonderful porch dog named Hobbs (I think), he is super loving and great company when you go sit out back to read or just soak up the beauty. From the moment we arrived we felt at home, the place was not just a house but a home, with some amazing character! Everywhere we looked, there was something new to see.
There is absolutely a future trip wanted to return to this unique home. :-)
Taos is a great place, but the countryside is where the true beauty of the high desert is, and that’s where Springwild is, only a few miles from town, but secluded in pristine fields, the cluck of chickens nearby, beaver dams by the river, kind hosts conscientious enough to set out a bottle of wine and treats upon our arrival after a long day of driving. We whole-heartedly recommend a stay here.
We had a great time at SpringWild! The house was fun, unique, and very comfortable! The kitchen was well stocked and a great place to cook with amazing views! We had fresh eggs from the chickens. Diane was so sweet to leave us a few scrumptious deserts too! Just loved it and would love to go again! Perfect location to shop town and head to the mountains to ski. Thanks for everything!!!!
