Minou really ruined our stay in Amsterdam. We had booked based on her 5-star reviews, despite the lack of photos. The room itself was charming and the location was very nice, but we were not able to enjoy ourselves because our host was constantly calling and messaging to berate u…

Response from Minou:
What can I say. Unfortunately Brittany and her 3 friends were not happy and that is a pity when you are supposed to have a good time. If I was not the subject of her review I could not agree more with her complaint if I read it but there is another perspective that I like to share with you. Suitcases: the stairs are steep of this 19th century canal home. I helped Some of her friends to bring their luggage upstairs but there was one really heavy and really big one that I myself could not carry. I strongly recommended that they took some luggage out of the suitcase because it was simply dangerous to carry such a suitcase upstairs. At that point my recommendation was already not taken seriously and the atmosphere was not nice to say the least. The only thing I wanted was to be helpfull and make sure they did not underestimate the stairs. Warmth: luckely they arrived on one of the warmest days in Dutch climate history in October and Autumn did not start. The 19th century windows need special care and instructions to open and close otherwise they can fall. I knew at night it would definitely be much cooler and that one open window would be enough at night.. If not they can always ask me anything even at night as I I always say to my guest because I live in the house where they have their room. When they wanted to sleep after 11.30 am and it was to warm for them at that time, II was back in 23 minutes to solve it and open the windows for them and give a ventilator .But they left already, that was the 2nd night The first night they took a 80 dollar worth beautifull Catalog of the Dia Art Foundation hard cover to use to keep the window open instead of asking me to help them to open it because I was just at home. The book was completely damaged, I did not ask a refund but wrote them that it is not usual to use a beautifull art book as a tool for keeping a window open. Messages: yes it is true after the 2nd night I saw the frontdoor locked with the iron part of the lock out but not in the wood of the entrance of the front door which means that the door was open all night long in the City Centre of amsterdam. That did not made me very happy and I considered that very irresponsible especially because they denied it. I said they better have a place with a doorman either a youth hostel or a really more up market hotel but not a cosy private place like mine. Water: because it was warm they used a lot of waterbottles but it hardly fitted the big bin after one night and the mechanism of the Brabantia bin was almost broken for pushing to hard to push too many bottles in the bin Privacy: every day I clean the room extra, change towels, new bags in the bin, checking toilet paper etc but Brittany and her friends considered that intrusive as you can read above. No guest before has perceived that as a problem because they realize my place that I offer my guests is a private room and I give my guests every day the service that it is clean again The most difficult thing is that they complainted on a lot but never communicated with me to help them out only complaining afterwards. It is a pity how it all went. On one thing we can agree. I am a host since 2011 and I have never had a guest who perceived such a bad experience and was so unhappy and that is really a pity for both of us.

We only stayed one night but it was very nice. Minou was very welcoming and was kind enough to let us drop our luggage off before the check in time, and also allowed us to keep our luggage there after check out so we could explore the city before our flight that evening. She also…

Minou’s place was in a great location! You had a nice view of the channels and it was within walking distance of a lot of the scenic areas. Minou was helpful, her place was very clean and in a quieter neighborhood! I would stay again when coming back to Amsterdam

Our stay at the studio was great! It’s a cute space with a good view, and very close to coffee shops and restaurants. Our only problem was with the WiFi being a bit finicky. Overall a great place!

Minou's had to beds very close together but worked perfect for our family of four. We didn't need a huge place, it was quaint and a view of a canal. It was quiet yet close to so many things! Steep stairs. Minou had many helpful hints. We would definitely stay there again.

Minou’s place is lovely. Great location as it’s easy to get transportation to and from the place but out of the high traffic tourist area. Plenty of nice restaurants. Beautiful view of the canal. Close to the train station. Minou was a good host, recommended close restaurant, gr…

Lovely flat and Minou is a wonderful host. She gave some great suggestions on how to spend our days in Amsterdam. It was very warm the days we were in Amsterdam which made the room hot. A fan would be a great addition to the rental!

It is wonderfull to live in the beautiful peaceful neighborhood of the Rapenburgerplein in the city centre of Amsterdam where you can swim in the canal in the Summer. I love also swimming in the Indian Ocean near Mozambique, Sri Lanka or the Maledives.
