The space

Independent ground floor flat with access through cobbled farm courtyard. Bed/sitting room, sofa and double bed, with patio doors opening into garden. Bathroom, fully equiped kitchen with table and washing machine. Wifi, tv, central heating. 15 minute walk to Farnham town and station with trains to london every half hour ...60 minutes to Waterloo...until midnight.

Farnham has a wide variety of pubs and restaurants... and the footpath right outside the flat takes you to the local Shepherd and Flock pub which also serves good food and local beers.

For a longer walk we are right next to the North Downs Way footpath leading to Guildford, and (eventually after a mere 120 miles) Canterbury

Waverley Abbey is a sheltered (protected from north winds, facing south....feels especially warm in winter) 1 hour walk away along the River Wey valley ...this is the first Cistercian - a silent order- abbey built in England 900 years ago. Wonderful arches!

For those royal, military, historial or merely geographical Farnham Castle is worth a walk around with great views over the town below.

And for the literary minded : walking along the River Wey valley nearby is literally following in the footsteps of Jonathon Swift who was secretary to Sir William Temple at Moor Park House 350 years ago, and who was wont (when not visiting his companion Stella in the valley or writing Gullivers Travels) to walk to visit the King of that time at Hampton Court and back in a day ...apparently. Walking/driving towards Alton you will be following in the horsesteps of William Cobbett who wrote Rural Rides, and heading towards Selbourne, the subject of Gilbert White's A Natural History of Selboiurne, and/or Chawton where one Jane Austen lived and wrote her well known tomes, and where there is now a museum dedicated to her.

And for anyone who wants to just relax and forget about the world the flat is a haven of quiet in the countryside and yet has Farnham and London by train on its doorstep. No need to have a car...but should you have one there is free parking outside the flat front door .

Hubert has a lovely cottage with everything you need. We saw a deer skipping down the leafy lane that leads to the gate one night. 💓 It's in a very charming residential area close to the small downtown area of Farnham. The private farm feels like you are staying in the Engli…

Hubert is the epitome of hosts. At the end of our lovely stay, I developed a sudden illness, and he drove us to the nearest hospital, in Guildford, where I found out I had a kidney stone. He was so generous with his time and warm personality that a very uncomfortable situation wa…

My hosts were perfect Airbnb hosts! The delay was precisely as described in the website, and well lit, warm, with all of the items you'd need in a home. After checking with me after my arrival, they left me to myself. But they responded very quickly to a couple of requests, incl…

The flat is a peaceful refuge with incredible surroundings. It is set up for a perfect airbnb experience. It takes a little bit of work to find it, which I think is half the charm. The road it sits on has only names for the various properties and Hubert guided me to just the…

This is a hidden gem and the pictures don’t nearly do it justice. Secluded, yet walkable, a beautiful garden and thoughtful touches on our arrival. Would recommend this lovely flat without hesitation.
