Come rest & rejuvenate here during your exciting stay in La Nouvelle Orleans!
The Mermaid Room is a unique and relaxing sanctuary, perfect for recharging after an adventurous time exploring the city. It features a comfortable bed with super-soft linens, and a reading nook with an interesting selection of books. The lovely morning sun will nudge you awake so you don't sleep through the day's possibilities! The washroom is a few steps away, and a short walk through the kitchen brings you to the lovely back yard.
Our home is a traditional shotgun house; a historic style unique to New Orleans. The rooms are laid out in a direct line from front to back with no hallways. For your privacy and comfort, there is a private entrance between the two bedrooms/ across from the washroom. We ask that our guests leave rooms open when not home or not in need of privacy, to allow others to pass through the house.
We are both local working artists, and our studios are in the first two rooms of the house. After that comes the Anne Rice Room, with a bed for 2. The bathroom is on the left after that, with the side entrance on the right. The Mermaid Room comes next, and also sleeps 2. The quaint kitchen has plenty of utensils and appliances, and the laundry room is available for your use as well. The back door opens up into a lovely sunny yard with an herb garden.
Our home is ideally seated blocks away from the St. Claude Arts District, the French Quarter, the Marigny and the Bywater neighborhoods.
Browse the many art galleries, bars, music venues, restaurants, and coffee shops just a short walk away.
Also, make sure to visit the brand new New Orleans Healing Center! Just 2 blocks away, it's a beautiful space complete with a grocery store, bookstore, art markets, yoga, a gym, and more. There is public transportation 3 blocks away and ample free parking.
*** Our other rooms are available separately, and the entire home will be available for rent on a limited basis ***
You will have access to the washroom, kitchen, laundry room, and backyard, which are all shared spaces. The front two rooms are the working studios, which we welcome you to view but ask to leave private.

St. Roch is a very diverse, real New Orleans neighborhood. It's bordered by the eclectic St. Claude Avenue, lined with art galleries, bars, and thrift stores. You can usually hear music floating through the air from all directions on a sunny Saturday, and neighborhood kids play basketball at the hoop on the corner. You might even be lucky enough to catch a second line parade with a brass band, marching through the streets to celebrate the life of a loved one.
We have lots of neighbors who have lived their whole lives here, and they will certainly greet you as you pass by. We all look out for each other and the spirit of this quiet neighborhood is one of fun, relaxation, and local flavor.
We rent bikes! $15 each per day.
The 88 bus runs up and down St. Claude Avenue.
It's 3 blocks away and a very convenient way to traverse the city. (email hidden). will take you Uptown or to Mid-City.

The listing was accurate and the location was great. Monica offered us a few beers in the fridge. Her cat Abita was very friendly as Monica wasn't home, so we did not get a chance to meet here. Just as advertised!
Monica was a killer host. She has everything you need right when you walk in the house. The room is beautiful and really cozy. We stayed two nights and really loved it. Would love to come back and visit soon.
We loved our stay here! Monica was a fantastic host and the private room was just what we were after. The neighbourhood was great -walking distance to French Quarter and lots of cool cafes and bars! We hope we make it back for another visit!
Monica welcomed us warmly and showed us the house. It's a very nice house. She gave us several place to go eat and have fun in walking distance. The pictures look exactly the same as the house. The neighborhood is okay. We (2 women) were worried to walk back at night. We thought at one point to take a cab. But we changed our minds and we walked home without any problem. Monica was a very good hostess.
The room was lovely and Monica was very welcoming. She was accommodating of us dropping off stuff early, which was really appreciated. It was great chatting with her, and she was also respectful of our privacy. The neighborhood is near to some good spots for eating/going out and public transit.
Monica was a great host! She was very friendly and flexible and available for questions. I loved her artwork and creativity. (and her cute cat Abita) The space is very eclectic and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and there was a nice area to relax and read. I definitely felt at home. The shotgun style house is new to me, but I had good privacy when I wanted it.
The location is great, close to the music on Frenchmen St and the French Quarter. There are restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and a food co-op within walking and biking distance. I had a lovely stay. I would definitely come back on my next visit to New Orleans.

I am an illustrator/designer running my own business here in New Orleans. I have a studio in the front of the house where I work during the day, creating art for bands, music festivals and small businesses in town. I love going out to see live music, biking around and collaborating with amazing people.
I love to travel, especially during the summer. I hope to explore South and Central America more as I've fallen in love with Guatemala & Colombia on recent trips. I also love road tripping across this beautiful expansive country of ours. When I hit the road, I usually arrange work wherever I'm going, either painting murals or creating signage.
I've met some amazing people through my airbnb hosting experiences, and some of them I hope to keep friendships with for a long time. I love hearing about where people come from and also showing them the best way to experience New Orleans -- It is a very exciting and sometimes overwhelming city. You don't want to get caught on Bourbon St. the whole time!
Most guests end up staying out all day and night when they visit this town, so I have a pretty hands-off hosting style. I'm always available via text & airbnb message to answer questions, and am happy to keep you posted on what events & shows are happening during your stay.
