The space
The Barn/Silo is separate from our other 3 listings on the Property which surround the lake (Tugboat, Airstream, and Log Cabin). It is closest to the Sheep, Goats and animal fencing. Watch the goats play while you relax on the porch. Close to many wineries, breweries, small town shops. 30 Mins to Charlottesville, 45 Mins to Richmond, 25 Mins to Lake Anna, 20 Mins to Gordonsville.

Our goal is to provide a unique adventure for guests with all the conveniences of home. The Barn & Silo is surrounded by a lush forest on 3 sides and Farm Animals on the other.
Outdoor Space: Your private swim pond is situated perfectly between the Barn deck and Silo Porch facing a seemingly endless forest. The fencing for the dwarf goats, sheep, and other farm animals is steps from the Silo Porch. The swim pond is perfect for cooling off on hot days, an evening swim under the stars, or just enjoying the view. The pond uses only natural filtration to stay clean, no chemicals. This amazing ecosystem attracts all kinds of frogs, tadpoles, hummingbirds, dragonflys, butterflies and other friends from nature. While it is a pond, it is separated from ground water so we are able to maintain clean clear water. The waterfall adds to the ambiance and privacy.
On the patio there is a Blackstone grill (large griddle top), and picnic table so you can dine while watching the farm animals on one side and the pond/waterfall on the other. At night sit under the twinkle lights roasting marshmallows by the firepit w/ grill top and Adirondack chairs. The deck and dock attached to the Barn has a sliding gate w/ lock and antique gate w/ latch to help keep kids and pets safe.
The silo house is very well lit at night by twinkle lights (can be turned off) which makes for a very romantic setting. Enjoy your coffee or cocktails on the deck with waterfront views and farm animals. The decks are covered in case of rain with a picnic table for dining and several Adirondack chairs. The barn deck has 2 hammock swings that are perfect for relaxing in.
Inside Space: Inside the Silo there is a fully stocked Kitchen with an electric cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, full size refrigerator w/ freezer, utensils and everything for your cooking needs. We provide coffee, tea, sugar, flour, condiments(ketchup, mustard, mayo) along with spices and cooking oils.
There is a dining table in the main living area. The coffee table converts into a larger dining table to seat 6 (dining chairs are located under the stairs). There is a smart TV with ROKU, sound bar and DVD player with a few DVDs. We do have some family friendly games and books in the cabinet under the TV. The top floor of the Silo looks over the kitchen and features a king size bed. The ceiling is made from reclaimed barn wood with a stunning custom light fixture made from reclaimed roofing and mason jars.
Make your way from the Silo through the hallway you will find a full bathroom with a stand up shower. Continue down the hallway past the bathroom and you will enter the barn room. The barn consists of 2 bedrooms, downstairs there is a king bed with views of the natural swimming pond and waterfall and upstairs there is a kids loft with two twin beds. To access the loft you will climb a secured ladder. After a restful sleep you can wake up and enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck right outside your room. The deck has high railings and gates w/ latches to help keep your kids and pups safe.
We also have more farm animals that are close by...sheep, ducks, chickens, and rabbits that you can meet and feed. You will most likely be greeted by our golden-doodle Mabel. She is extremely friendly but please do let us know if she's a bother. She enjoys meeting new guests and their furry companions and is wonderful with kids!
We sell dry firewood or you can help yourself to any fallen wood that you can find.
If you'd like to fish the lake, fishing is "Catch and Release". Please be aware that each listing on the lake has its own private dock. You're welcome to fish from the edge of the lake, pier with windmill or island bridge. If you plan to spend lots of time on the lake then we ask you to book one of the properties that are on the lake for easier access and to maintain privacy for our other guests. The Lake is stocked with Crappie, Blue Gill, and Large Mouth Bass. Several 7lb+ Bass have been caught and released.
There is never a lifeguard on duty! Please use life vests and supervise children. By booking with us you agree to use the lake, trails, and property at your and your guests own risk.
Swimming, or any other water play is at your own risk. You are accepting responsibility of yourself and other guests when having full use of the property, trail hikes, biking, swimming...etc.
Please use your best judgement when bringing children of all ages, if you are unsure about something please ask.

No motorized vehicles on trails or Lake
You must be comfortable climbing a ladder to the kids loft in the barn.
Guest access
The Silo house has access to 2 kayaks to enjoy on the lake at the pier with windmill on our dam. Please do not use the dock at the cabin or airstream, they are private for those rentals.
You are welcome to walk behind the cabin to access the island. Please be respectful of other guests privacy.
The Silo House is a short distance from the Farm Store with Games like Skeeball and Air Hockey, Local Meats, Treats, Ice Cream Cookie Sandwiches, and Bait. Open Daily to all guests.

Dogs are welcome (**Please let us know when you book if you plan to bring your dog**), but must be house trained and friendly with kids and other dogs and animals. We are allowing a maximum of 2 dogs in the silo at one time. There is an additional $125 fee per pet paid prior to arrival. If your dog is wet/muddy there is a specified dog towel in a bin under the stairs. Please do not use bath towels to dry your dog! No pets on furniture please if unable to do so please bring something to cover the furniture.
