Staying at Malvern's home was truly a privilege. It was the perfect retreat to rest at after exploring New Orleans. Malvern was very hospitable, leaving some local beers for us to try in the fridge, setting the air to a comfortable temperature, and even providing some fruit and bagels for us, which we truly appreciated! This was the perfect place to stay with a group of 5 girls, we felt both comfortable and very safe in this community, even when walking up to the home in the middle of the night. The community was very quiet, no disturbances, and we really enjoyed exploring some of the local bars and restaurants nearby. Thank you, Malvern! I will be back!
The apartment was impeccably clean and well appointed. Excellent attention to detail. Refrigerator was well stocked with fresh milk, water and beer. Bagels and English muffins, as well as fresh bananas were also provides. Very satisfied with the facilities and location. Never got to meet host. Only problem we had was with the lock to the apartment. Trust host can quickly solve that for future guests. Highly recommend - five stars!

We had a great time staying at Malvern's place. The location is really wonderful. Having the streetcar line just a short walk away was perfect. We had the convenience of being able to get everywhere we wanted to go but still have a nice, safe and quiet neighborhood to come back home to relax in.
I loved walking around the area looking at the beautiful houses and speaking with the locals. We received numerous recommendations for food and entertainment from people that we encountered on our walks.
The corner pub serves a large selection of beers and yummy sandwiches. It was nice to have a place steps away to lounge in the shade and enjoy some good New Orleans food and drinks.
The bedrooms in the apartment are really quite lovely and the beds are comfy. Being an old house the walls are solid and the noise didn't travel. Even on the weekend nights I didn't hear any of the sounds from the crowded corner pub.
The kitchen was well equipped. There was even some supplies already in the fridge - which was really nice. We used the coffee maker every morning but I can't say that we ever tried out the stove. With all the excellent restaurants in town there was no need to ever think about dining in - but everything was there if we had wanted to.
I would definitely recommend Malvern's place to anyone looking to spend some time in New Orleans. The booking process and his communication were excellent. There was always someone available should you have any problems. It makes you feel much more part of the city to stay in an actual home than a hotel room.
We didn't meet Malvern personally but he sent us instructions by phone. We found a clean and cozy apartment, perfect for our group, with some food and beers in the fridge! The location is great, between magazine street and st charles (direct streetcar for french quarter).
We already stayed in several apartments in Nola, this one would be in our top 3!
Malvern could not have been a more perfect host. He answered any questions we had promptly, greeted us upon arrival, and even stocked the kitchen with breakfast essentials and beer. He made us feel so welcome in his home and made our stay in New Orleans very special. And his home in the Garden District is a real gem! It is beautifully decorated (dark wood, gorgeous fireplaces, impressive book cases) with Jazz Fest and other fine art displayed throughout. The rooms are nicely furnished with comfortable beds; plenty of room for our group of 5 adults. There is a wonderful shower with plenty of hot water. And it is a very convenient location - a short walk to many lovely historic homes and great restaurants in the Garden District. The St. Charles streetcar stop is at the end of the block (1 minute walk) and takes about 20 minutes to get to the French Quarter. Malvern even connected us with a terrific cab driver and we were able to arrange airport pickup and drop off, rides to and from Jazz Fest, all in advance of our arrival in New Orleans. All in all, we had a fantastic time at Malvern's home in the Garden District and would highly recommend it to anyone coming to New Orleans.
Malvern was most accommodating of us four sopranos. Any questions or requests we had were answered promptly and pleasantly. We found the suite above his law office a perfect retreat and launching point for our choir and sightseeing activities. The St. Charles streetcar is steps away, and the Avenue Pub was a super place to relax. Lots of good restaurants and the proximity of the funky Magazine St shops made Chez Malvern a great location. The apartment had everything one could want - very comfortable, and quiet too. I hope to return one day.
Our visit to New Orleans was terrific, in no small part due to Malvern's accommodations and hospitality. His 2 bdr apartment was comfortable, inviting and well situated for all activities in NOLA. We had everything we needed including a refrigerator with some very welcoming items. An off street parking lot made it easy to use a car and the apartment's close proximity to the St. Charles Streetcar offered that option as well. Malvern's reviews of local restaurants and bars, events and other attractions made us feel a part of the scene. Our only regret was that we did not have the opportunity to meet our host in person.
Excellent location, a fine host and a good value would bring us back as well as make this a definite recommendation for others.
