The four of us had a fantastic stay at Malvern's place in New Orleans. The house is full of character and it was a very comfortable spot to come home to after a day of exploring the city. Malvern went out of his way to greet us, give us suggestions when we asked him, and overall made sure we were enjoying ourselves during our stay. We cooked multiple meals in the very modern kitchen, which was stocked with all the cookware we needed to take an occasional break from the rich southern fare :) The sun porch is a great place to unwind. There was an off-street parking spot for our rental car, and plenty of restaurants, shops, and streetcar stops within walking distance. If you are looking for a fun and authentic New Orleans lodging experience, look no further! Thank you Malvern!
We were treated very well by Malvern. The apartment was clean and stocked with all we needed. I enjoyed meeting James and Laura. We would go back again and hope to as soon as we can.
I am now a Saints fan...
Malvern Burnett is a fine southern gentleman—in the best of all possible meanings of that phrase. Three of us stayed for five weeks in Nov-Dec 2013 at Malvern’s upstairs two-bedroom apartment with its sunroom, kitchen, spacious bathroom--and fascinating pieces of art by local artists throughout the apartment--and lots of plants. Malvern’s busy law office is on the first floor, so it was not infrequently that we got to see Malvern as we came and went from this two-story 19th-century building that is in remarkably good shape. Each encounter with Malvern was a pleasure. He was always quick to respond to our emails prior to our arrival, and to our needs once we were there. We highly recommend Malvern as a landlord and his apartment as a perfectly located place to stay while in New Orleans. The St. Charles streetcar is within sight of the apartment and runs regularly—and is a fun way to travel about the city. Can’t say enough positives about Malvern, his apartment and the lower Garden District neighborhood. Certainly if we go back to New Orleans for a visit in the future, this is where we hope to stay.
I can't even begin to say how great our experience was. Malvern was courteous, very informative and a generous host. Had great suggestion on different places to go. We got to experience a side of New Orleans that I never did before. Great places to eat within walking distance. Very congenial pubs and bars right down the street. And transportation was so convenient!!! Needless to say, it was tough coming back home, especially leaving perfect weather to overcast and snowing conditions! Just wish we had more time down there. Thank you again, Malvern!!!
The apartment was great, location excellent, and the host, Malvern, so hospitable and courteous. We totally enjoyed our stay and hope to return.
Malvern was the perfect host. This place has the New Orleans feel that we were hoping for and it was a nice quiet place to get away from the craziness of the French Quarter. Perfect for hopping the trolley to the French Quarter or just staying in the area and enjoying the local spots. We felt very safe and welcome staying here.
Malvern was the perfect host and the apartment couldn't have been better. Malvern was very helpful and responded quickly to requests via text message. The apartment was very comfortable and was within walking distance to Avenue Pub and many great restaurants. We had a wonderful time in New Orleans thanks in large part to Malvern and his apartment. We look forward to staying again next year!
My friends and I had a wonderful time in New Orleans thanks to Malvern's home and hospitality! We arrived after a long day of flying to a comfortable apartment and some beers in the fridge. Situated down the street from the wonderful Avenue Pub (open 24 hrs!) and right by the St. Charles trolley car, it's the perfect place to stay. The apartment is in a safe neighborhood and is within minutes of most attractions.
Thank you so much for so many wonderful local recommendations and for letting us stay at your charming apartment!
My daughter and a friend stayed for four nights. She was highly complimentary of Malvern and the apartment. Malvern took special care to make her feel welcome and he gave me a sense of her well being so I did not have to worry. Quite simply, he pays attention to the details and his an excellent host. My wife and I may even stay there next time we are in New Orleans.
Malvern was a great host. Apartment was exactly as described. Pefect location. I highly recommend it and I plan on staying there again when i return to New Orleans. One block to street car on St Charles. Walking distance to garden district. There was fresh fruit and cold beer in the fridge. House as has alot of character and a historic past. This was a perfect 4th of July trip.
