Originally booked the property to crash before driving to Wellington after Tongariro. Upon arrival, decided to catch a quick shower and drive through as there was no way I was convincing my girlfriend to stay for a night ... the property is pretty remote and there weren't very m…

Response from Sandy:
Very sorry to hear you didn't stay. You were met by our groundsman as Sarah was showing around our other guests (we had 4 other people staying the same night as yourselves). We are an Old Nurses Home, hence the name, and we are situated between 2 national parks and set within 5 acres of park-like grounds. All information that was provided to you before you booked. It sounds like your girlfriend may be better suited to staying in hotels and perhaps only in cities in the future. We do hope you enjoy the rest of your travels in New Zealand.

Excellent option for trips to the mountain, away from all the buzz of Ohakune but relaxing, secluded and scenic location. Good facilities. Super friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.

I spent one night at Snowy Waters on my way from Auckland to Wellington and had one of the best sleeps! Sandy is a wonderful host and while her lodge is a 'work in progress' it is warm and comfortable and charming. I will definitely be back.
