Sean's place was the perfect location for my groups retreat. Even with the snow surrounding the house and keeping us indoors for most of the vacation, we still managed to find comfort just by enjoying the view of the mountains from indoors and from the porch. Both the main house and guest house provided us with a cozy atmosphere to hang out and sleep, as well as the necessary items to cook as if we were in our own homes. Overall, my group really enjoyed staying in this location for the weekend. If we had the opportunity to go back, we would go in a heartbeat.
Seán's secluded home plus guest house provided ample accommodations our three family Thursday-Sunday winter break gathering which included six parents, five teens, and three dogs. We played some of board games (e.g. Yahtzee) we found in the octagonal living room. The upstairs loft plus bedroom was particularly well suited for our teenagers who slept-in during mornings while parents walked and cross-country skied along nearby snowmobile paths. We met neighbors who told us how Seán's place had been tastefully renovated from it's original use as a family hunting lodge. One afternoon we divided ourselves into three teams for a scavenger hunt that involved driving to nearby small towns and interacting with locals who were all exceptionally friendly. In short we had a great winter getaway, and we'll likely come again someday, perhaps for a summer retreat.
The house was very nice and clean, at a beautiful location. Sean was very responsive and helpful. We loved our stay at the house, it fit 10 people very comfortably. Definitely a house I will look at again when I go back to Vermont.
The property had ample space for our large group - there are probably I think at least 8 beds total, and with a futon and two full size and one queen size bed, the description for sleeping 13 is right if you can assume more than 1 person per the larger beds. The property is in fair-to-good condition given the 'cabin-like' style; the additional guest house is obviously a bit newer and in good condition as well.
There's no cellphone service in the area; a blessing or a curse depending on your viewpoint. The "country" internet connection is pretty bare-bones, so make sure if you're arriving with laptops to play movies on Netflix or something, you've instead downloaded hard copies to play. The speeds are fast enough to do low-quality FaceTime and (website hidden) calls, though, as long as you're the only one using the connection.
This is a great place to stay! We could not have asked for a better house to accommodate our large group. The property was gorgeous, with a beautiful view of the mountains to wake up to. Everything you might need for the living room, kitchen, etc. was provided and the house was super clean. Sean was great to work with, quick to respond and made sure we had everything we might need. If you're looking for something secluded and away from city life this is the place to be!
Sean was great! Very responsive and worked with our varied needs very well. The home(s) are beautiful and very well-mainted. Perfect for retreats! The only downside is there's no cell-phone reception in or around the house, but there is WiFi so iMessage/Email works!
The cabin and guest house were both absolutely lovely. There was easily enough space to fit my large group which included babies and children. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes and catching frogs outside, while the adults sipped their Vermont Craft Beer overlooking the gorgeous treelined vistas on top of the many private porches. Very ideal for a multi-family get away in Vermont, with easy access to the Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury and Sugar Bush Farm outside of Woodstock. This cabin is highly recommend.
The property and overall rental experience were excellent.
Sean is clear and prompt with email/messaging to line things up and all of the instructions he had for use of the property were great.
The site has amazing views, the outdoor space, common areas and beds were all clean and functional. We had 11 guys up all found it comfortable to sleep, eat and hang around.
The property is within a quick drive to retail/grocery needs and is along numerous spots to put in to nearby rivers. It doesn't have cell coverage, but the cable and wifi worked fine and we actually enjoyed a rest from ringing phones.
If I were to qualify the experience it would just be to mention that the watering hole was not as swim-able as we hoped...this could just be the squeamish city-folk in us coming out though.
This hardly took away from us having a great time up in VT. All in all, a great experience. Thanks.
