Everything about our experience with Carlos was great. We contacted him upon arrival and were given directions via waze app so we could easily navigate our car there. There is no private parking but street parking was plentiful and safe. Him and his family were extremely welcoming even offering us a bigger futon for us to use in the living room. We were in San Jose for lasik surgery and it was a quiet place to recover. There is a big walmart close by and lots of restaurants. I would highly recommend this apartment and plan to contact him again in the future.
Carlos is a great host and his place was perfect for exploring downtown San Jose. The apartment is just like you see in the photos, very clean and comfortable. We took the bus downtown and were there in minutes and we enjoyed being near the heart of the city and experiencing what it’s like to live there. Having the Walmart nearby was nice too as we could pick up stuff for making meals at home if we wished. We didn’t have a chance to get Costa Rica SIM cards at the airport but when Carlos found out he called the cell phone company and asked where their nearest location was, then told us how to get there. We also texted him one night to see if there was a can opener in the apartment and he appeared 20 minutes later with one he’d run out and bought.
Carlos has a nice apartment for longer stays in a good location in the city. The apartment is well fitted with everything you need. Great value for money! Thanks Carlos.
Carlos is a very nice person and the description of the apartment was real. All the apartment was extremely clean.
Unfortunately the neighbourhood was very very noisy. We could hear the trucks brea. We also could hear our neighbours, whose car was parked very close to our bed.
We also found that the flat was a bit dark especially in the kitchen.
I was pleasantly surprised. My quarters were clean, bright, comfortable and the internet wi-fi was awesome. Cable tv was good, many spanish speaking stations as expected but there were a number of english speaking as well. The neighbors were awesome. To name two were Louis and Mike. They spoke near perfect english, well traveled and very personable. Carlos lived in the adjoining building and was available for anything. His mother was there as well along with Mike and Louis in the other apartment. Eating places were within walking distance. I would stay with Carlos again.
Carlos, as a host, he couldn't have been better! His direction, guidance and responsiveness is superb. We had a couple issues that he responded to and resolved very promptly. While San José, on the whole, isn't much of a "quiet" city, this place in Guadalupe is quieter than most others - you can't escape street noise, but being down the block from a main road helps a lot. Speaking of location, there are a lot of great places within walking distance: Typical American fast food - KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut; Typical Costa Rican cafes - one at the end of the block, corner of the main street, open for breakfast and lunch; A grocer in a shopping plaza - clothes, electronics, video rental; A bank; A barber; bus stops; WalMart is also only 100m away. The Majority of Downtown San José is walkable, and you can get to The National Park [Av 1 @ Calle 15] in ~10 min walk or a $2 taxi. The internet and electricity here were very reliable. The kitchen was more than sufficient: double hot plate, fridge, silverware, plates, cups, drip coffee maker. There is a washer and dryer [dryer added at our request. thank you, Carlos] if you need to do laundry. If you're not familiar with Costa Rica, it's very normal for the only location of a residence that has hot water to be the shower; this is the case at this property, but it shouldn't "make-or-break" your decision to stay here.
Location is good if you'll be around downtown San José or San Pedro. There is a Walmart which very convenient. It is a quiet neighborhood.
