What a wonderful place! A piece of paradise, really. The cottage is so cosy, clean and comfortable, we would like to stay forever and ever! The fire place is a good little extra for rainy autumn days/nights. And it feels so good walking around along the fields, to appreciate the beauty of Irish country. And Elspeth is so nice, welcoming us with a loaf of bread and a beautiful smile. I recommend it, 100%!
We enjoyed our time at the cottage. It is in a beautiful rural setting. A touch of old Ireland. Clean and comfortable. The homemade bread was a treat and Elspeth was helpful and gracious hostess. Enjoyed the fireplace Loved our stay.
VERY LOVELY QUIET LOCATION. PRIVATE COTTAGE WITH
A WASHING MACHINE! VERY FRIENDLY HOST.
Vielen Dank
Elspeth's cottage was beautiful. It was spotlessly clean recent renovated and beautifully decorated, completely private with own entry, truly a home away from home. Elspeth could not have been more hospitable leaving freshly baked bread and newly laid eggs for us. All facilities including a welcome washing machine are new. It was peaceful and a close distance to Woodstock Gardens and other scenic pleasures.
The cottage is indeed well located in relation to many interesting towns, villages and the coast.
Elspeth is a host that takes her commitment to her guests seriously. It was lovely to have gluten free bread she had baked herself as well as scones waiting for us, along with other staples waiting for us in her fridge.
She was very welcoming and happy to guide us in selecting local activities.
The cottage boasts a lovely kitchen, a pleasure to cook in.
As soon as we arrived at the Brandon Cottage we were already planning for our return! Such a picturesque place in the middle of the stunningly beautiful Kilkenny county. The surroundings were exactly what we pictured when thinking of Ireland. There are rolling hills, the meandering river, beautiful stone bridges and green all over. Plus, we realized if we had stayed in the city of Kilkenny we would have never seen as much of the countryside as we did on our drives to and from the cottage. The cottage itself was wonderful! Had everything we needed; a beautiful two bedroom quaint place with a fireplace and trees all around it. Elspeth was the perfect host supplying us with fresh bread, milk, eggs and meringues!!! It was such a fantastic introduction to the cottage and Kilkenny county. The drive to Kilkenny was about 30 minutes and it only took us 10 minutes to get to Instioge and about 15 to Thomastown (which has a large supermarket). We absolutely want to return and have already started recommending the Brandon cottage to others. Lastly, we thought we had lost an iphone, and they let us into their home to use the internet. We left thinking we would never see it again, and Elspeth found our missing iphone and contacted us to return it! I can't say enough about this wonderful cottage and can't wait to go back!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at Brandon Cottage. The cottage was recently updated and was quite comfortable. The location was quite rural so a car is necessary. The GPS coordinates brought us right to the door and return us easily after each day trip. The location was close enough to many sites so we used our three days very well. We were greeted with fresh bread, eggs, sweets and milk so our first breakfast was covered until we could go to the store for supplies. We would highly recommend this AIRBNB for those who appreciate nature and a rural setting.
Elspeth is a terrific host. She went above and beyond in many ways: leaving a starter kit of foodstuffs, providing extras like stock and meringues during our stay, giving us Irish cookbooks when we expressed an interest in Irish cookery, printing off a document for us. The cabin is very comfy with great beds and linen, a very usable kitchen, wonderfully working appliances, and incredible peace and quiet. It was extremely clean too. The environs are great: pastures and greenery everywhere. This place is great value. The reason she does not have many reviews yet is because she just started this venture but I am sure she will garner many in a short time.
