Spacious lanai (deck). A super relaxing place to enjoy a meal or conversation with an ocean view. Stargazing from here is also amazing.

Interaction with Guests
Our family is very mellow and friendly. We own and run a bakery in downtown Kona so we work and run errands quite a bit.
On work days we leave the house around 5:00 am and get home in the early afternoons...sometimes late at night. We usually end up going to bed pretty early or just relaxing around the house. On our "off" days, we're usually at the beach,
doing house/yard work or relaxing at home.
We invite you to come to our cafe in downtown Kona and enjoy a complimentary continental style breakfast per person on the first morning (or any one time during your stay).
An organic, home made NY Bagel and cup of 100% Kona Coffee, Apple Juice or Tropicana OJ.
Please enjoy a 20% discount at our cafe anytime during your stay with us as well.
We have GF and Vegan options too!
We want you to know that we are happy to see you and answer any questions you have regarding your stay or about the area activities.
When we are home, if you hear or see us, you're more than welcome to come by and say hello! We love meeting our guests, however if you prefer to be left alone and just relax, we totally respect that and your privacy.
Once you've booked your stay with us, you will be given both our cell phone numbers. We are best reached via text and also via the airbnb message thread. We always have our phones on us and are very good about replying and being in touch.
Our home is nested on 1.5 private in a beautiful, desirable area in the hills just minutes from Kona town. In fact if you're at the Kailua Kona pier and you look south, you can see our areas perched on the mountainside from there.
We've had many people visit our property (even long time locals) that have said "wow! This spot is amazing! I didn't even know this existed up here".
Driving down the road you'll see coffee farms, banana trees and macadamia nut groves and lush tropical foliage. Our neighbors are mostly coffee growers and farmers. You don't see any other houses from our home (even though we do have neighbors on adjacent properties), yet we are conveniently located minutes from Keauhou Resort and Kailua Kona where you'll find all the modern conveniences of shopping, dining, movie theaters, entertainment, grocery stores and of course wonderful beaches, snorkeling spots and amazing island adventures.
The historic Keauhou Store is located just under a mile from our home. This adorable country/vintage store sells all kinds of snacks, drinks and even has a small lunch menu. It's a great place to sit, relax and watch life go by. Oh! And the owner, Thea, makes amazing, fresh baked cookies!
Palekana road (the road our home is on) is a great road for a morning run or evening walk. One of our neighbor's farms is a sight for Kamehameha Schools so sometimes you can hear the kids chanting in Hawaiian as they work on the land. It's amazing.
On certain nights if you're sitting outside on the lanai (deck), the beats of the Tahitian drums from the luau down at the Sheraton Resort travel up the mountain. It is so cool. Makes one feel like you're in ancient Hawaii!
Our home is located approximately 25-30 minutes south of the Kona International Airport which is 10-15 minutes from downtown Kona.
If you're arriving on a flight at the Hilo airport, Kailua Kona & our home is about a 2 hour drive.
Renting a car is a ideal when staying at our place. If you don't have a "smartphone", we recommend a GPS or a great map.
If you choose to use one of our maps or guidebooks and don't have a GPS, no worries! We'll provide you with very detailed instructions to our home. It really is easy to find (even at night).
If you don't plan on renting a car, you will find our place to not be the best spot. However, when my schedule allows, I have accommodated guests before who didn't have cars. Let me know if this is something you're interested in.
Other Things to Note
The studio is accessible via an exterior, covered stairwell. If stairs pose a challenge for you, you'll find this to not be a suitable place.
The houses are separated enough where you rarely see or hear other guests, however we kindly request that from the hours of 10:00 pm to 8:00 am we are all extra conscious of our neighbor guests. (Conversations, TV's, Phone Calls, laptops, etc....at a lower volume).
Cigarette smoking is allowed on your private outdoor lanai only. You're welcome to smoke on the lower part of the parking lot as well or down by the palm trees where the turtle birdbath is.
Large beach towels have been provided for taking to the beach.
Please turn off all fans, TV's and lights when you leave for the day.
We harvest the majority of our water from the rain. Please be conservative when using water (brushing teeth, showering, washing dishes). On that note: THE WATER in the water bottle stations are for consumption.
Store all food in the microwave or refrigerator when you're gone. Any food left out is a party invitation for bugs.
Antionettes private studio was perfect for my boyfriend and i. The view from the patio during the sunset was gorgeous. She had a binder filled with local activities, as well as snorkeling gear available. Although we never had direct contact with her, she was very responsive when we asked questions via air bnb. We would love to stay here in the future!
Loved our stay at Antoinette's studio, located in a quiet area about 15 minutes outside Kailua, at an elevation that insured cool nights for sleeping. She gave us great advise on beaches in the area for snorkeling and even provided masks, snorkels and fins, as well as beach chairs and towels. Would definitely come back!
We loved the location as it was a world away from the tourist strip along Alii Drive. Our favourite snorkelling place at Honaunau-Napoopoo was only 30 min. away and we were also able to drive to the Mauna Kea visitor centre in ~90 min. Every evening we were treated to amazing sunsets from the balcony which provided a direct view down to the ocean in the distance. The description of the suite is just as Antoinette described it.
Our stay at Antoinette's studio was great. Everything was exactly as described. You have your own access to the studio with your privat terrace to sit down. The location of the studio was perfect, a good base to explore everything at the kona-coast. You have everything you need. Don't forget it is in the middle of the jungle and you have a lot of little animals around (the frogs at night,spiders...) but however we felt safe during our whole stay.
Antoinette and her familiy are very friendly hosts. The bakery was a big plus.
For a stay in Big Island (Kona), I do recommand it!!!
My friend and I spent 3 nights and had an amazing time! The directions were spot on, we were able to follow them in the dark. The place was immaculate and welcoming. Went to their cafe in the morning and had a super delicious meal and got a sweet discount! We used the bbq to cook dinner one night and everything worked really well.
Hi Antoinette, we really enjoyed our stay at your studio. Everything was in perfect shaped and there is a lot of beach gear visitors can use. Antoinette and her family are very friendly hosts. They even helped us when we wanted to stay some more days in Kona. And nobody did complain even so our one year old boy did scream sometimes during the nights. We highly recommend to stay at Antoinette. Thanks again Ulrich
Antoinette, her family and the two friends living on the property were very welcoming and friendly. Everything is as described and we were having a great time in this green paradise. We enjoyed the lanai with the BBQ very much and had very relaxing evenings watching the sunset and listening to the sounds of the ¨jungle¨ while the housecats were visiting us.

I'm Antoinette. Thank you for your interest in staying with us during your visit to the island of Hawaii.
My husband, Jonathan and our 15 year old daughter are originally from "The Land of Enchantment" (Taos, New Mexico) and have been living on this amazing island for 10 years. We came here after a 3 year adventure in Homer, Alaska.
In 2013, we were blessed by our hanai uncle who sold us his home which gives us the opportunity to share it with visitors from around the world!
After staying at a couple hostels in Alaska, I fell in love the "B&B", "Hostel" vibe. There is something really cool about sharing space with others in a "non hotel like" setting. You get to experience an interesting reality. We're really happy we get to create that here on the beautiful Big Island.
I love nature and am a passionate animal and earth lover. I love full moon nights, stargazing, snorkeling and swimming with dolphins.
I love writing, reading, and learning. I'm really fascinated by holistic health, wellness and spirituality.
I love stories about UFO and mermaid sightings and pretty much things super~natural.
Even though I love studying and learning about the spiritual worlds, I am definitely very grounded. :)
I'm also very much into the self discovery and self improvement realm.
Some of my favorite teachers are:
Don Miguel Ruiz, Louise Hay, Lucinda Bassett, Serge Kahili King, Deepak Chopra & Tony Robbins.
My next adventure is to become a therapist and facilitate healing and expansion retreats at our home.
My husband is very mellow and a bit on the introverted quiet side.
However once he gets comfortable, he enjoys chatting. He's one of the hardest working persons I've ever known. He used to be a longline fisherman in Alaska for 15 years and also did crab fishing in the Bering Sea. He's the main baker at our cafe. He enjoys SCUBA diving and working around the house.
Our 15 year old daughter is very sweet and an amazingly grounded teenager. I think it helps that she's been home schooled the last 5 years. She's very athletic and is a Big Island and State Champion 6 man canoe paddling racer.
She helps us at our cafe and runs the front of the house. When she's not working or paddling, this mermaid child loves spending as much time as she possibly can at the beach.
As a family, we love adventures, relaxing at home and doing home improvement projects. We are vegans for 3 years now and are solid and tight knit, just enjoying another day in paradise. Hope to meet you along the way.
With Warmest Aloha!
Antoinette, Johnny & Luna
