Gio's home is perfect in many ways. Nestled amongst grape vines, it sits on the top of a hill with beautiful views of the treed hillsides and small vineyards. You even have a view to an small ancient village atop one of the hills that is lit up in the evenings and very beautiful. The setting is private with a rural vineyard feel though very close to several small (URL HIDDEN) of which, 10 minutes away by car, has a train station and grocery stores. There are very nice restaurants 5 to 10 minutes away. There are many nice sitting and dining areas located on the west side of the house including a large outside dining table under a vine laden portico. There is a nice pool and lawn on the east side. The inside of the house is beautifully decorated with old world furnishings that add perfectly to the feel of the stone villa. There are also two large dining tables (URL HIDDEN) in a formal dining room and another adjacent to the kitchen to provide many dining options. We used all three of the large dining areas inside and out depending on mood and weather. Lots of candles to make a perfect dining experience. Gio and a friend prepared a traditional Tuscan dinner for us one night that was the highlight of our two week trip around Tuscany. We lunched on the leftovers the next couple of days too. Gio handled it all...from setup to cleanup and all we had to do was sit and be waited on. It was perfect. The bedroom situation was perfect for our three couples. Each of the three suite areas had it's own private bathroom and the suites were connected by a large common lounging area with a sofa and fireplace. One of the suites actually has an additional sleeping room and bed that shares the bathroom. There are many great lounging areas scattered around the house as well. Perfect for those times when someone wants a quiet place to read or a larger gather sits down for a visit. Very flexible and comfortable. Gio's own home is on the property about 100 yards to the west of the villa so he is available for any issues that come up. He can make reservations for you at the many dining options in the area and has great contacts at various vineyards and farms for insider arrangements. He will accompany you on the visit if you like. He is as available or not as you wish him to be. Gio is very personable and cares deeply about the quality of your stay. I highly recommend staying here.

Our entire family was thrilled to spend a truly memorable week at Chianti la Collina. The villa, the view, the host, the chef's specialities and so much more provided a particularly lovely Tuscan experience. We give it the highest possible recommendations.

Chianti La Collina is absolutely magnificent. Every article read, movie viewed, or travel website browsed relating to Tuscany cannot capture how beautiful La Collina and the surrounding vistas truly are. Giovanni is the perfect host. His attention to detail and appreciation for the traditions and culture of Tuscany provides a full and beyond exceptional immersion into the local context. Giovanni is not only attentive to the nuances of Tuscany but also his guests. As a result, he was integral to guiding us through our Tuscan experience and ensuring that our comfort and enjoyment was at its best. We intend to make La Collina an annual family retreat and will forever keep the memory of our perfect vacation in Tuscany. Of my many Air BnB experiences across various countries, this is simply the best. Our family will always remember the smell of Lavender, the rustic meals, deep Tuscan valleys of rolling hills with vineyards and Giovanni's warm hospitality. Quick notes: -Perfect for families (kids love it!) -within proximity to top sites and vineyards -Amenities and accommodations are beyond exceptional -The views are surreal

This is an amazing, large house, in an incredible location, with the best host and all the options you could want. gionvanni was simply the best host we've experienced on air bnb or any other vacation site, without question. from the arrival, being offered fresh melon from his organic garden, to helping us with shopping, amazing dinners and meals, booking us restaurants / wineries / other activities, organzing yoga sessions for the girls, wild boar hunting and go karting for the boys, NOTHING was left wanting. the perfect tuscan experience. we were 2 families of 4 with young kids, and the house is very large with seperate wings, 2 floors, 4 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, plenty of room for everyone to have their own space. a great, huge chef's kitchen where Gio organized a home made pasta cooking class for us with a local mama, several outdoor areas to eat and have aperitifs, an outdoor bbq where we cooked many meals with incredible local meat, the pool with outdoor shower, all atop a hill with 360 degree views of Bucine, Ambra and the beautiful Chianti region and nearby castles. we cooked with fresh veggies from his organic garden, and every restaurant he booked for us, they welcomed us with open arms as friends of Gio's. he is a great guy who really really cares, and we ended up spending many nights and days together as friends, but he was very cautious to make sure we wanted that, and was happy to not be there if we preferred. we have travelled a lot over the last 25 years, and this was a top 3 holiday for sure thanks to gio, his hopitality, the amazing house, pool, garden and the incredible local towns with markets, services and restaurants. gio can offer whatever you want across the spectrum of luxury: cleaner and cook every day or just once a week, do everything yourself or have him do it for you, lots of options or bare bones, organize a an italian supercar day with lunch for the boys (!!), or a bike riding trip as is his hobby. he was so good with our kids they are still talking about him. we loved it that every restaurant, barber, butcher, deli and market stand owner knew him and treated us like his own family. i would highly recommend this house and giovanni as a host. for anyone looking to satisfy high standards, you will find him an absolute pleasure and flawless as a host. he speaks italian, french and english, and has a very good global perspective having worked at the UN. the location is perfect - we spent time in sienna, florence, ambra, arezzo, bucine and many other places all less than 60 mins drive away. 12 out of 10 recommendation for la collina chianti and giovanni!!! merci gio! we will definitely go back.

The pictures don't do this place justice - it's even more enchanting when you see it live. Giovanni's warmth and hospitality, his attentiveness to every small detail and request, the food we had cooked for us each night - the whole combination was the perfect place for our family reunion. We can't wait to go back - and our kids especially can't wait to see Giovanni again!

Villa “La Collina” is set atop a hill with 360 degree views of the Tuscan countryside. The location is very good for exploring central and eastern tuscany, with Sienna in especially easy reach. Even the quaint town of Ambra (only 5km away) has a couple of good restaurants and doesn't feel at all touristy. Gianni and Stella are incredibly helpful and generous hosts, and spent the Saturday hand-over night at another house on the property. They helped with advice on the local area and set-up a WONDERFUL dinner cooked by a local woman. It was one of the best meals of the trip! The house looks as good or better than in the pictures. All of the bedrooms are clean, incredibly large and each has wonderful windows and views. There are great little sitting areas indoors to relax and read a book, although we spent almost the whole time outdoors. The outdoor seating areas are nice with good, comfortable furniture. The outdoor "tuscan grill" is great for evening cooking as it overlooks the valley and you can watch the sun set in the distance. The pool is large and very clean, with good sunshine throughout the day. The only minor limitation (we had 3-year-old twins with us) was that there are no stairs and no shallow end--only a ladder to enter the pool. Our kids like to play and spend time in shallow water and there is none in the pool. The only other observation was a small charge for beach towels for use at the pool which was a bit surprising for a high-end villa at this price point. Overall, we had a great stay and appreciated the hospitality of Giovanni, Stella and Gianni. If you are looking for serenity, comfortable accommodations and breathtaking views, you will not be disappointed!
