Guest Access

Guest visiting "La Casita" will have the entire house to themselves and access to everything within the property. You and your friends/family will have privacy and all amenities are for you to enjoy.

Interaction with Guests

I am always available to answer questions and concerns before, during, and after booking. I provide with inside of the Island and current events. At your arrival I do my best to introduce my self and the house to my guest. Sometimes I have to leave the Island but don't worry, If am not in the island the house have a combination key box for you to pick up and drop keys for your conveniences.

The Neighborhood

In addition to Vieques beautiful beaches La Casita provide a unique cultural experience; the house is located in a local neighborhood where our guests should make a priority to experience our way of life and community. Chickens walk freely from on property to the next. Horses are all over the Island and the locals are friendly and helpful. Since we are a small Island we also have some limitations, for your convenience it is important to gas your rental car as soon as possible, gas supply may run out without notice and resupplies can take up to two days. Local Viequenses philosophy is: "if is available now buy it, don't wait until run-out"

Getting around

The best way to get around is by rental car, you will have the freedom to move from place to place on your own schedule, scooters are also available (If you don't have a motorcycle endorsement I will not recommend because the roads in Vieques are hilly and tricky). For the hardcore bicycle rental are also available (Keep in mind that Vieques is not completely flat and we have some small hills). If you prefer to be driven from place to place Vieques have taxi service and publicos (15 passenger bands that provide transportation from place to place).

the house have a large driveway where you can park your rental vehicle inside the property.

If you drive from the airport follow route 200 east for two or three minutes until you find the intersection with route 201, following route 200 the make a left on Calle 8 immediately after the intersection, drive down the road until you find La Casita on your left

Other Things to Note

The best way to learn a new place is by commingling with the local population. Quickly you will learn all the inside about the place. That is the experience I offer when you come to my house. I like to take 10 to 15 minutes to provide you with current information about the island, best places to go, restaurants, ect,. Vieques is much more than beautiful beaches come and meet the people.

  • Rosalind was great! Rosalind met us at a lunch stop in Vieques to make sure we got to the house. She answered all calls and text messages very quickly. The house is perfect! Very clean and spacious. I can not wait to go back!

  • We had such a great experience at Rosalind's house in Vieques. The house was very clean and spacious. Rosalind was kind enough to pick us up and take us to the house and gave us helpful information about what to do and how to get around. We were pleasantly surprised with fresh baked bread one morning. I would definitely stay at Rosalind's again and highly recommend staying with her!

  • We stayed at Casita Montesanto for a month and enjoyed every day of it! Rosalind is a wonderful hostess and was always a text message away if we had any questions. The house is set up nicely with maps and area information, kitchen essentials & extra treats, nice bedding and plenty of towels. Rosalind also brought us by extra household supplies and some delicious local bread! We loved having a few neighborhood dogs hang out on the front step, horses walking down the street (close the gate or they may wander in) and hens with their chicks all around the yard. There is a large beach a 5 minute walk away, when walking out of the driveway, turn left toward the ocean, walk to the end of the road and go right. When you come to the end of that road it curves to the right, on the left you will see a wall with a path to the right that leads down to the beach. Explore a little and you can find more small beaches within walking distance as well! We would definitely stay here again!

  • The Casita is a great way to get an authentic, rustic Vieques experience. It is very cozy, clean and well-maintained. It's in a very non-touristy neighborhood so you get a taste of what life is really like on the island (spoiler: incredibly peaceful).

Rosalind was super helpful throughout. She was very responsive whenever I had a question leading up to the trip, and provided recommendations on what to do on Vieques. She also connected us with a publico driver to help us get from the airport to the house.

The only caveat is that the location can be inconvenient if you don't rent a car. It's still doable, but just budget 2 hours per day waiting around for a publico to pick you up.

  • Perfect house for a stay in Vieques. Felt like we were locals. The house was clean and nice and Rosalind was very helpful and knowledgable about the island. Also, she was quick to respond to questions when we needed help. Recommend.

  • The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay in VIeques! Rosalind was a great host and was always available. As other reviewers mentioned, it is noisy with the rooster and normal neighborhood activities. Location is great. I would stay there again.

  • Rosalind was outstanding! This is perhaps our best AirBnB experience to date. Rosalind picked us up near the ferry for the short ride to her casita. On the way, she stopped at a local market and bought juice, coffee and bottled water for our stay and pointed out places to eat and shop. Her home was very clean and well supplied.
Little details like; liquid hand soap & lotion, coffee & tea, sugars & spices, paper towels, wine glasses and all needed dishes & utencels
were all there. The microwave was handy and the use of the washer and dryer was greatly appreciated. Wifi worked well (slow 7-10 pm)
and there DVD's and a DVD player. The neighborhood is authetic complete with roaming horses, noisy chickens. A medium sized, white w/black dog would spend time laying on our front porch as if to be trading watch dog duties for a snack. She was always quiet and respectful and made the place feel homey. We rented a jeep to travel the rest of the island. The south side is where the really nice beaches are. It's about a ten minute drive. Rosalind went the extra mile to make our stay memorable. We highly recommend.

  • Amazing! My bf and I loved staying here, it was the perfect size for the two of us. Rosalind gave us a few very helpful recommendations for exploring the island and she reached out to make sure our stay was comfortable. We were initially worried about finding our way around, but the island is so small that we found the house immediately. There's a great restaurant just down the street, with a mouth-watering mofongo. We had an absolutely wonderful time all over Vieques, we can't wait to come back!

  • Casita Montesanto is in the Florida area of Vieques which is just south of Isabella II. Although it is in a residential area, the surrounding lots are large enough so that there is an adequate feeling of privacy. This is a single story 2 bedroom/1 bath house with a separate kitchen and a dining/livingroom area. The house was clean and slightly larger than we expected from the photos. The washer and dryer worked well and were welcome after a day on the water. The wireless internet access also worked well. Rosalind was warm and welcoming and made us feel like if there were any problems, she would be available to resolve them.

Don't forget to close the gate across the driveway or the horses will visit. They are all over the island and can create a messy situation.

  • I absolutely loved my stay at Casita Monte Santo! It was truly a very pleasant surprise as it was more than we expected! We were there for one week and and I wish I had spent my entire vacation there in Vieques- the neighborhood where the home is located makes you feel at home right away! I would recommend this home if you ever visit Vieques! The home is really clean and organized which made our stay even more cozy! I can't say enough about Rosalind-who extended true Puerto Rican hospitality! She makes me proud to say I am Puerto Rican - thank you again and I look forward to my next visit to Vieques! Ivelisse

Acevedo's Car Rental
Hello friends, my name is Rosalind Ortiz; a local girl, mother of two beautiful daughters and happily married to Sergeant First Class Retired, Esteban Ortiz (US Army). I currently resided in Vieques where I work as the Operations Manager for Acevedo's Car Rental; my hubby works for the National Park Service and The United State Park Police in Washington D.C. I know all the ins and outs of the island so take advantage and ask any questions you have in mind. I enjoy snorkeling in Rompe Olas, watch my daughters ride the waves in Playa Carracas, and on weekends I go to Sun Bay with my family and friends to BBQ and view the sun set (you have to experience Sun Bay sunsets, check out my pictures). I personally recommend taking your special person to Sun Bay and the Biobay ((website hidden)). I myself like to watch Vieques’ sunset with a bottle of wine or sparkling prosecco while enjoy the culinary skills of my lifetime friend Pablo and the endless jokes of my good friend Timmy’s. Pablo cooks the best Argentinian BBQ in the Caribbean (sorry guys he’s our private cook). Part of my job is to counterpart with hotels and restaurants, and outdoor activities organizers but what I like the most is to make new friends, to share my word travel experience with travelers and vacationist, and make my costumers happy. So come down to Vieques and take advantage of everything the island has to offer.
