Riad Jawhar is a beautiful Moroccan town house built around a patio with a pool and a large roof terrace. It is located in the Medina (old city) of Marrakech in a calm area, 15 minutes walk away from the famous Jemaa El Fna square.
Extremly nice and beautiful Riad. Everything was clean and with a very dekorative design. We can recommend the breakfast with fresh orange juice. The rooms were cleaned every day. We will be back for sure and will recommend it to all our friends in Denmark .
Very nice and spacious riad, with big rooms, all with a private bathroom. Great location in the Medina. Located in the end of a street with local kids playing outside. Christel stayed in touch before and during the stay, and we were picked up at the airport and given help transporting our luggage. As we travelled 8 people, including 4 small children under 5 years, this was very helpfull. Everything felt very safe. Only advantage was keeping our 1-year-old out of the pool (something we were prepared for before arrival!). The three other kids also loved it and didn't mind the temperature was a bit low
We stayed a family of 5 (3 kids ages 3,5,7) in Christel's riad for 8 days in Marrakech. We felt well taken care off and attended to by the staff that helps Christel. We had organized an airport pick up with Christel and this was certainly a good idea, since it would have been difficult to find the house on our own. The house is situated at the end of a network of small alleys that only allow scooters and walking, so getting family luggage to the house required assistance.
During our visit there was a lady in the house from morning to evening. In addition to cleaning the house on a daily basis and making the beds she also prepared breakfast and dinner on request. We had arranged with Christel to have dinner made for us during all nights of our visit and the quality of the food was good and well made.
The house is very beautifully decorated and the pictures are very well representative. We stayed in the winter time and the nights got cold. Accordingly we needed to have the heat on. This worked out fine except for a smaller issue with the heating system in one of the four bedrooms. We really enjoyed spending time at the rooftop terrace and in spite of the cool weather our kids also went into the small pool in the courtyard. We imagine that this would be even greater when the weather is warmer.
Christel and her helper Rachid were also helpful in coordinating a few private daytrips with a very nice guide Zouhair (Zizu), which also was great for our trip.
Overall it was wonderful to come into the private and calm house after a day in the hectic city and we can recommend staying in Christel's riad.
We went in a group of 4 girls and had a great time in the Riad. It looks exactly as on the pictures. Every morning we started with a delicious breakfast before we started to explore the Medina. Everything can be found in walking distance which was very convenient. We can definitely recommend it!! :)

My family and I just returned from 7 fantastic nights in Christel's riad. First, I'll get the issues out of the way: we had endless hassle with the immigration officer, because we did not have the full riad name and address! After over 30 minutes of staring at the AirB&B booking form, which does not have this information, he eventually let us into Morocco! AirB&B, please resolve this.
During our stay Christel was in constant email contact to ensure everything was OK, we had a couple of issues with heating/aircon which Rachid sorted out on the day, he also gave us a map and took care of airport pickups and any other transport needs. We also opted for daily breakfast, which Khamisa prepared, and on the first and last days we also asked her to cook us chicken tajine, which everyone agreed were the best tajines of the week!
The riad is under 15 minutes from the square and spice market, and under 10 from a cluster of good restaurants like Souk Cafe and Cafe Arabe, the most direct route is straight through the souks. There is also a takeaway on the corner 5 minutes away, which does pizza and kebabs, and plenty of local food shops. Like most riads in the Medina it is down a narrow path with a few turns in it, and well light at night, make sure you memorise the route!
Inside the riad is an oasis of tranquility, it is beautifully decorated with simplicity and style! Even though the first couple of days it rained and was cold, our two youngest still decided to have a dip in the pool, which in hot weather must be fantastic! Having previously stayed in a riad hotel, and being a larger group this time, we really appreciated having the place to ourselves!
Thanks you Christel, Khamisa and Rachid for making this a fantastic stay!
Le riad est très bien situé au coeur de la médina, à quelques minutes de la place principale, du souk et restaurants. Cet riad est très agréable et bien décoré dans la tradition marocaine. Je vous le recommande vivement!
