Welcome to Kyoto!
My cozy private apartment is located in the center of Kyoto and very convenient. It is only 4 minutes walk to two train stations, Omiya (Hankyu Kyoto line) and Shijo Omiya station. It is only 2 stops from Omiya station to Kawaramachi where you can easily walk to Gion & Higashiyama area to see old Kyoto in the eastern district. The train also takes you straight to Osaka (Umeda station). Near my apartment, there are also frequent buses available and they are going to the most of popular places in Kyoto.
Both Nijo Castle (World Heritage listed) and Nishiki food market (the best spot to find a Kyoto delicacy) are within walking distance and about 20 minutes on foot. Arashiyama, historical western district of Kyoto, is easy access by Kyoto Keifuku Tram Line, 4 minutes on foot. There are many must visit places in Kyoto but Arashiyama is my favorite place. I personally recommend spending a good full day there. For example, World Heritage listed Tenryuji temple has a really lovely Japanese garden and an amazing dragon painting. The famous bamboo forest and Okochi Sanso Villa with tea tasting experience cannot also be missed. There are a plenty of little cafe, shops and restaurants and you may find your own hidden places. If you prefer to travel by bike, there is a rental cycle nearby with good value.
So the location is perfect!
With my love of Kyoto knowing many hidden places, it is too hard to tell you everything now. Please drop me a line with your interest.
My apartment is small, about 15 square meters but it is a standard Japanese studio room size and has almost everything you need, such as portable wifi, small kitchenette with cookware, plates, bowls and cups, kettle, microwave-oven, small fridge and hair dryer. Two folding beds with futon, linen and towels are also provided. Please note that the bathroom is small for Western standard but shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided. Coin laundry (washer and dryer) is in the apartment building.
Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. There is a variety of restaurants nearby. I'd love to recommend nice and reasonable Izakaya, Ramen (soup noodle), Yakitori (grilled skewed chicken), Bento (boxed lunch/dinner), other style of Japanese restaurants, Chinese, Korean BBQ restaurants and much more. If you wish, I'm happy to book a table for you :-) There are 7/11s, Fresco grocery shop, liquor shop, fast food shops, book store and post office in walking distance.
Hope you have comfortable stay at my apartment!
** Unlimited Portable Wifi is available so you will have the internet access anywhere.**
No smoking in the apartment and building.
Please use washer and dryer between 9am to 7pm only.
Please take off your shoes before enter the room.
Conveniently located apartment, as advertised. Many instructions and living necessities were provided, and she left many useful pamphlets and maps for getting around!
We had a great stay in Hanna‘s apartment. She left the studio very clean and in a perfect shape, it is very comfortable and it has everything you need including Wi-Fi that we were able to bring around the city with us. There are so many bus routines stop at the station on the main street which is 3mins walking from the apartment. Highly recommended specially for singles and friends.
Overall, had a very enjoyable stay here in a lovely and friendly neighbourhood. We didn't meet Hana but we found the directions clear and the apartment easy to find having arrived during the daytime.
The flat is small as described but we found a way to make the most of the space we had. Also we had soft backpacks which could be stored underneath the beds so it wasn't as much of a problem as if we had bought hard suitcases.
The location was absolutely fabulous. 1 minute walk from local station (Hankyu) and 15/20 min walk from nearest JR line. Excellent for bus routes and we found it very easy to navigate the system from the Omiya intersection. We were v close to the amazing Arashiyama, Gion and Nijo castle, and it was straightforward to reach other places like Ginkakuji and Kinkakuji.
Overall an enjoyable stay in a friendly neighbourhood!
First impressions: the apartment stunk like rotting wet clothes and it was very very small, specially the bathroom.
2 women-5'4" 5'5" American size 2 and 4 shared this apartment and felt very cramped.
You can hit your head on the bathroom door trying to sit on the toilet and you can't raise your arms to wash your hair in the small tub without hitting your elbows.
There were no closet or any places to hang your clothes or towels.
Only 2 portable folding bed with bad springs and 2 flat old smelly pillows were provided for sleeping-ended up with back and neck pain.
You are expected to bring in the laundry from the patio and make your own bed-bedding and the old mismatched towels were all wet because it was raining when we arrived.
No television/radio was provided
The price were extremely high for what we received-it was higher than what we were charged to stay at a Tokyo hotel
This was my first time renting a place through Airbnb and I will never do it again
Thank you for your valuable feedback. I understand this is your first time to stay at airbnb property. I offer a basic but comfortable room to stay with low price. The period you booked is one of the busiest peak time, called golden week in Japan but I have charged a very reasonable price, if you see a price at three star hotels in Kyoto in that time, you will find them offering a high prices. I am confident that you have had a very good deal. The apartment is small but its size is 15 sqm and there are many hotels in Japan offering similar size of the rooms. There are bedding hanging out in the balcony and I ask guests to take them in when they are dried if that is OK but you were provided clean towels and sheets so you did not have to them them in for your own use. The instruction of the apartment says it but I will review it if that is clear enough for guests. I do not provide services like hotels to keep the price down. Again I do appreciate your feedback. In future, I will be more careful to accept bookings from any guests seeking to stay city hotels than local apartment.
We stayed in Hana's place for 3 days, from 1-3 May 2015. Hana had emailed us her apartment's description before then making it very easy for us to navigate the way to her place. We did not know what to expect since it's the first time we used an Airbnb. It was a very pleasant experience. Hana's apartment had everything we needed! Bathroom was really small but it's normal for a Japanese apartment, so it's okay! The residents of her building were really nice. We did not have any difficulties at all despite having to check ourselves in etc. Really recommended!
nice stay at Hana's apartment! very central in Kyoto, barely 5 minutes walk to metro station and buses....shops near by...once we booked, Hana sent me instructions on how to find the apartment and to get in, very convenient indeed...I never met her but Hana was very communicative and responsive when needed..
The flat is well located. Altough it is small, there was everything we needed. Hana was very good host, the contact with her was very easy, she answered very quickly and recommended us place to visit. We enjoyed stay at Hana's place.
