Welcome to Kyoto!
My cozy private apartment is located in the center of Kyoto and very convenient. It is only 4 minutes walk to two train stations, Omiya (Hankyu Kyoto line) and Shijo Omiya station. It is only 2 stops from Omiya station to Kawaramachi where you can easily walk to Gion & Higashiyama area to see old Kyoto in the eastern district. The train also takes you straight to Osaka (Umeda station). Near my apartment, there are also frequent buses available and they are going to the most of popular places in Kyoto.
Both Nijo Castle (World Heritage listed) and Nishiki food market (the best spot to find a Kyoto delicacy) are within walking distance and about 20 minutes on foot. Arashiyama, historical western district of Kyoto, is easy access by Kyoto Keifuku Tram Line, 4 minutes on foot. There are many must visit places in Kyoto but Arashiyama is my favorite place. I personally recommend spending a good full day there. For example, World Heritage listed Tenryuji temple has a really lovely Japanese garden and an amazing dragon painting. The famous bamboo forest and Okochi Sanso Villa with tea tasting experience cannot also be missed. There are a plenty of little cafe, shops and restaurants and you may find your own hidden places. If you prefer to travel by bike, there is a rental cycle nearby with good value.
So the location is perfect!
With my love of Kyoto knowing many hidden places, it is too hard to tell you everything now. Please drop me a line with your interest.
My apartment is small, about 15 square meters but it is a standard Japanese studio room size and has almost everything you need, such as portable wifi, small kitchenette with cookware, plates, bowls and cups, kettle, microwave-oven, small fridge and hair dryer. Two folding beds with futon, linen and towels are also provided. Please note that the bathroom is small for Western standard but shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided. Coin laundry (washer and dryer) is in the apartment building.
Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. There is a variety of restaurants nearby. I'd love to recommend nice and reasonable Izakaya, Ramen (soup noodle), Yakitori (grilled skewed chicken), Bento (boxed lunch/dinner), other style of Japanese restaurants, Chinese, Korean BBQ restaurants and much more. If you wish, I'm happy to book a table for you :-) There are 7/11s, Fresco grocery shop, liquor shop, fast food shops, book store and post office in walking distance.
Hope you have comfortable stay at my apartment!
** Unlimited Portable Wifi is available so you will have the internet access anywhere.**
No smoking in the apartment and building.
Please use washer and dryer between 9am to 7pm only.
Please take off your shoes before enter the room.
The apartment came with all the furniture/commodities described and is in a quiet location. While the apartment is centrally located on the map and certainly is within walking distance of some tourist sites (like Nijo Castle), it should also be noted that the closest subway station to the apartment is Omiya Station, which is not a JR line. But if you do most of your traveling by bus anyway (which you probably will), this should not be a problem.
Hana responded to my messages quickly and kindly even allowed me to check-in early for which I was very thankful. The apartment room is slightly different but pictured in terms of furniture placement but is clean and didn't smell, and the pocket wifi was useful to carry around. I would recommend to travelers who want to sightsee Kyoto who don't mind/won't be using the train.
Very good situation close to train/metro/bus (2min by walk).
The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The mobile wifi was very helpful.
The neighborhood is really calm but 7/11 and some good restaurants are around ( Hana give us really good advices especially for the "Ramen" restaurant)
Hana was really helpful and available.
Just one thing:
Be aware there is no elevator (BUT it's only one floor). Anyway it maybe could be important for people who has an impairment.
I recommend this apartment to visit the city and will definitely go back there the next time I go to Kyoto.
The reservation was canceled 39 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Hana was very polite and easy to communicate with. She answered all questions promptly which was very helpful. Her apartment was just as described.
The apartment is convenient. only 5min walk to a major subway stop and bus stop hub. It's also on the last stop of the tram line through Kyoto as well which was really helpful when getting to and from Arashiyama.
There were two of us during our stay, the room was small but not too bad. The bathroom however was very tiny. We are both quite tall people so this did not help the situation but when we had a shower the other one of us had to 'take a walk' as it was almost impossible to shower/dry and get dressed in the bathroom. This was only a minor issue as we were here for only two days.
Other than that the apartment was great and I would certainly recommend it!
Hana's apartment was very convenient and the directions for the apartment were helpful and much appreciated!
I stayed here with my boyfriend for 5 nights while doing 2 day trips to Osaka and Nara in December.
Hana replies emails quickly and was able to answer my queries before my stay and I really appreciate it!
We were arriving in Kyoto from Nagoya at about 12 and I would have preferred to leave my luggage in the apartment instead of dragging them around. Hana helped me to arrange for the luggage to be left at the apartment while we toured for the day.
Also, the portable wifi device she provided was awesome! We had wifi in at least 80% of the places in Kyoto, Osaka and even Nara. It lasted us well through the day. This had also helped us saved the cost of getting one from one of the portable wifi rental companies.
Location was great. It had 3 train lines within walking distance which brought us to almost anywhere. The buses right at the main road would bring you to most of the attractions in Kyoto as well.
The room was pretty small once the two beds were open but we made do with the space since the other rooms we had in other parts of Japan was about the same size.
The only issue I had was with the bathroom... While showering, the floor outside the bathtub (where the sink and toilet bowl is) started to flood and we didn't know how to get the water to drain as we couldn't find a drain on the floor... Took us awhile to figure out that flushing the toilet bowl drains the floor as well. But that wasn't really an issue after the first shower we had. Just a tip for those staying here in future.
All in all, great place! Love it!
