Welcome to Kyoto!

My cozy private apartment is located in the center of Kyoto and very convenient. It is only 4 minutes walk to two train stations, Omiya (Hankyu Kyoto line) and Shijo Omiya station. It is only 2 stops from Omiya station to Kawaramachi where you can easily walk to Gion & Higashiyama area to see old Kyoto in the eastern district. The train also takes you straight to Osaka (Umeda station). Near my apartment, there are also frequent buses available and they are going to the most of popular places in Kyoto.

Both Nijo Castle (World Heritage listed) and Nishiki food market (the best spot to find a Kyoto delicacy) are within walking distance and about 20 minutes on foot. Arashiyama, historical western district of Kyoto, is easy access by Kyoto Keifuku Tram Line, 4 minutes on foot. There are many must visit places in Kyoto but Arashiyama is my favorite place. I personally recommend spending a good full day there. For example, World Heritage listed Tenryuji temple has a really lovely Japanese garden and an amazing dragon painting. The famous bamboo forest and Okochi Sanso Villa with tea tasting experience cannot also be missed. There are a plenty of little cafe, shops and restaurants and you may find your own hidden places. If you prefer to travel by bike, there is a rental cycle nearby with good value.

So the location is perfect!

With my love of Kyoto knowing many hidden places, it is too hard to tell you everything now. Please drop me a line with your interest.

My apartment is small, about 15 square meters but it is a standard Japanese studio room size and has almost everything you need, such as portable wifi, small kitchenette with cookware, plates, bowls and cups, kettle, microwave-oven, small fridge and hair dryer. Two folding beds with futon, linen and towels are also provided. Please note that the bathroom is small for Western standard but shampoo, conditioner and body soap are provided. Coin laundry (washer and dryer) is in the apartment building.

Our neighborhood is quiet and safe. There is a variety of restaurants nearby. I'd love to recommend nice and reasonable Izakaya, Ramen (soup noodle), Yakitori (grilled skewed chicken), Bento (boxed lunch/dinner), other style of Japanese restaurants, Chinese, Korean BBQ restaurants and much more. If you wish, I'm happy to book a table for you :-) There are 7/11s, Fresco grocery shop, liquor shop, fast food shops, book store and post office in walking distance.

Hope you have comfortable stay at my apartment!

The flat is really small as for european standards. We are 2 adults and I don't imagine more people could fit there but it is in great location, close to interesting places that we visited by feet. We visited a lot so we didn't spend much time in the flat but we had all we needed to boil water or heat ready meals. It was nice to have in bathroom shampoo and soap so no need to buy new ones. The internet didn't seem to let us watch much Japanese TV online, as we didn't have TV via cable.

The apartment is only a 5 minute walk away from public transport, supermarkets and restaurants so it is very convenient. We prefer to walk when we travel so we can really explore the area and it was only about a 20 minute walk to the closest main malls, markets etc. The apartment is cozy by western standards but very decent sized by Japanese standards and we had no issues with the space.

Hana's place is ideal for a solo traveller such as myself. I felt very safe in the apartment and walking around the area at night. It's a great location, a short walk from train stations and main bus stops, restaurants, and shops, including two 7-11s with ATMs, a McDonalds, a Daiso and a fabulous okonomiyaki restaurant called Donguri. It's also extremely quiet. As others have pointed out, the apartment is small but it was fine for me, especially as I didn't spend a great deal of time there as I was out exploring. The pocket wifi is a great convenience, however I found the battery only lasted until about 2 or 3pm each day so bear this in mind if you need internet access while out and about. I was using it quite a bit for GPS etc so I wasn't shocked that it didn't last all day. As I arrived at night I caught a taxi from Kyoto station and showed the driver Hana's instructions and he had no trouble finding it. I would definitely stay here again as the apartment was great value and I had a fabulous holiday.
