Marie and Raphael's space was awesome. Even better than represented. We didn't meet Raphael, but Marie was lovely and so kind to us. The bed was comfy and everything thoughtfully stocked. Thank you for a great stay!!
Overall we had a fantastic experience! Marie and Raphael were super welcoming and there when we arrived. They left us fruit, yogurt, wine, and tons of great advice for restaurants and live music both in the neighborhood and outside. My husband really appreciated being allowed to play the guitar, especially when Raphael gave him a guitar string.
The house itself is great! Spacious. Love the design, color, and artistic touches. We wanted a place that really made it feel like we were in New Orleans, and this place was it! The bed was comfy, the bathroom and kitchen was newly renovated, and the backyard was stunning!
In terms of the neighborhood, the immediate area is still transitioning but we never felt threatened at all. It was calm and quiet and there was tons to see and do within walking distance. If you cross St. Claude there are some AMAZING restaurants on that side which we frequented including Satsuma, Elizabeth's, & Booty's. We also went to Bacchanal which is not far away and highly recommended for their amazing outdoor courtyard, wine, cheese, food, and music.
The only cons were that it was sometimes difficult to get a cab (maybe because we were there during graduation weekend for Tulane?) Not sure. The bus was close by though, and if I wasn't pregnant, we would have biked! The other con was that there was no microwave or toaster oven to heat up food, although we ate out the entire time anyway, because I mean...it's New Orleans!
We had such a great time and would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others who want a local neighborhood feel for their trip to Nola :-) Many thanks to Marie and Raphael for being so hospitable!
Very friendly and accommodating hosts. The house is just a short bike ride from the French quarter. Super cute and comfortable. I've got plenty of decorating ideas for my own apartment :)
We had the BEST BEST time at Marie and Raphael's beautiful home. It was perfect and they were so incredibly helpful. The house was so clean and wonderful to sleep in. Which brings me to the bed... THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED I HAVE EVER SLEPT IN... no joke.
Marie and Raphael were always sending us messages about where to go and interesting things to go see during the time we were there. I highly highly recommend staying at their lovely home. It will definitely add a wonderful feeling to being in New Orleans.
The place is beyond gorgeous. Lots of thoughts have been put in by the host. They provided detail reviews by their own for places around which is very helpful. The house is very clean, quiet, very comfortable to live with all necessary equipments. I will definitely recommend to live here.
We had a wonderful time in New Orleans, made even better by staying in Marie and Raphael’s unique and beautiful home. We loved the décor and immediately felt at home. After a busy day of exploring NOLA, it felt good to come back to their cozy and quiet place. The location was great, far enough away from the craziness of the quarter, yet close enough in that we could get to where we wanted with ease. It was great being in a neighborhood rather than a tourist location and both the Bywater and Marigny were fun to explore. Marie and Raphael are the perfect hosts, friendly and informative without being intrusive. We arrived late and they had thoughtfully provided coffee and milk for our morning with the bonus of a nice bottle of wine for later. A highlight was listening to Raphael play at Bacchanal Wine, a neighbor wine and cheese bar that exudes a relaxed atmosphere. Raphael is truly an accomplished musician and not to be missed. Thank you Marie and Raphael for making our stay so enjoyable!
This home is magically peaceful and beautiful. Their renovations definitely showed that it was a labor of love. My boyfriend and I had been completely drained prior to arriving and our stay was exactly we needed to recharge. It was raining, but it worked out cause they had an extensive collection of movies that allowed us to relax and just lounge around. The place is very neat and spacious and more than enough for two. Top notch appliances and I think their kitchen was my favorite. They had everything you may possibly need, including a kitchenaid mixer!
The bywater neighborhood is beautiful, with a lot of culture, but can be intimidating at night so you'll definitely want to take cabs (but a very cheap ride from anywhere). It's far enough from the craziness but a quick drive away from the french quarter. We walked to the park overlooking the river when it stopped raining and enjoyed many of their recommendations that were fabulous.
Marie and Raphael are extremely nice and thoughtful, and extremely prompt with communication (especially since they live right next door). So grateful that we were able to stay and will be dreaming about it til hopefully we can come back.
