The Space

This comfortable two room apartment, located by the corner of Oak Street, offers a charming bedroom with queen size bed, bathroom with spacious shower, living area with kitchenette, equipped with sink, mini refrigerator, microwave, electric skillet, coffee maker, toaster oven, dishes, utensils, etc. There is a 50" HD TV and two couches that can be used for additional sleeping, queen and twin size air mattresses are also available. Enjoy the private backyard which has a deck, brick patio and grill or relax in the rocking chairs on the front porch.

The host of the annual Po-boy Festival in November, Oak Street, called "a renewal of nostalgia" has a collection of coffee shops, art galleries, new and vintage clothing boutiques, small businesses, a variety of terrific places to dine, great music at the well known Maple Leaf Bar and so much more. As well as Oak, within a short walk, this great New Orleans neighborhood offers numerous restaurants, stores, bars, etc.. Pick up the streetcar one block away and enjoy the sights of the Universities, Audubon Park, the Garden District and the magnificent homes on beautiful St. Charles Avenue. The streetcar will take you to the Art District, downtown and the French Quarter.

We always ask our guests in the other apartment to be very mindful in regards to noise, particularly in the late evening and night. Though we make every effort to minimize any disturbance, this wonderful house is not completely soundproof.

  • We had read wonderful reviews of the hosts and the neighborhood and they were justified. Ellyn met us and gave us a very good introduction to the property. We had a wonderful stay and so appreciated the water, coffee and other supplies she left for us. The apartment was very comfortable and very nicely furnished. We will
look forward to staying there on our next visit to New Orleans.

  • We absolutely loved our stay on Oak Street. Ellyn was there to greet us and show us around. The place was immaculate, stylish, comfortable and well appointed. The attention to detail was amazing. Additional bedding, if we needed it, was packaged and well marked. She left us snacks, banana bread, juice and coffee, etc. in the fridge. The livingroom had magazines, books, games, a nice TV, and DVR and two comfy couches that were perfect to sleep or nap on. The kitchenette was compact but well-stocked with everything. It truly is located about a block away from Oak Street which is always a fun place to roam around. We'll be back, Ellyn. Thank you!

  • My husband and I were in New Orleans for Jazz Fest and stayed in Ellyn's house. What a wonderful oasis from the craziness of the Fest. The house is so comfortable, clean and well stocked. It's also a stones throw from one of the most interesting areas in New Orleans - Oak Street!! So much better than a hotel as you get to experience what New Orleans is all about. We will definitely stay here again! Thanks Ellyn for your hospitality!

  • My daughter and I came to New Orleans to take a look at Tulane and we were so happy that we found such a wonderful place to stay! We were so comfortable and happy at Ellyn's place - she is a great hostess and made everything so easy. We would definitely stay here again, it was a great neighborhood, an easy walk to the Street Car, and we felt very safe. The bed was really comfortable and we had a fully stocked fridge and snacks! Thank you Ellyn!

  • Ellyn and Gil were wonderful hosts. All the reviews on airnb were 100% correct. The apartment is absolutely lovely and in a fantastic neighborhood. Ellyn was there to welcome us when we arrived. Being from overseas and having been on the road staying in hotels for a few weeks it was so nice to feel relaxed and welcomed into such a lovely house and to enjoy the peace and quiet of the neighbourhood. We would most definitely stay again if we ever get back to NOLA and will recommend any of our friends travelling to the USA to stay there. Thank you so much!!!

  • WOW! Pictures do not do this place justice - its GORGEOUS! And you can tell Ellyn really pays attention to details - very tastefully decorated. Beautiful coffee shop around the corner and breakfast spot with amazing piano player next to that. $1.25 to jump on the streetcar to French Quarter through scenic tree-lined route. Felt very safe to park car on street as well. Will definitely stay here next time in NOLA.

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Ellyn's place near Oak Street. It was great to get to know this part of New Orleans, and we enjoyed taking the St. Charles streetcar to get around town. There were many nice touches - from the decor to the freshly ground coffee that Ellyn left for us. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the patio on a warm spring day . . . staying here made us feel like we were really living in NOLA even if it was just for a few days.

  • We really enjoyed our time at Ellyn's Uptown NOLA apartment. Sitting on the front porch after breakfast at the Live Oak Cafe around the corner... amazing pork belly sandwiches at Squeal on Oak Street... dancing at the Maple Leaf. The apartment itself was clean, stocked with a few Abita Beers for our arrival and just around the corner from the St Charles Streetcar for easy access to the Quarter. Really the perfect spot for a trip to the Big Easy!!

  • I was a little skeptical about the whole experience but from the beginning of the transaction until we left the apartment, everything was awesome. When I arrived, Gil and Ellyn greeted me and told me about the apartment as well as things to do in the city. It turned out to be one of my better travel experiences. I plan to stay with Gil and Ellyn in the future; and I highly recommend staying with them if you are looking for comfortable, safe and centrally located lodging.
