Soledad's apartment was the perfect base from which to explore Barcelona! The apartment was really clean and had everything we needed. The area felt really safe and was near the big roads, so close to stations/attractions, but tucked away enough that it was quiet and there were supermarkets/breakfast cafés really close by. We walked almost everywhere, and Passeig de Gracia was ideal for heading to Park Guell/Sagrada Familia, and the airport. Thanks Soledad!
When I told a friend I was planning to stay in an apartment in Barcelona that was advertised as centrally located he said "They all say they're centrally located". This was my first visit to Barcelona and I wasn't sure what to expect. This apartment is exceptionally well located. You could say that Plaça de Catalunya is the heart of Barcelona in the same way that Times Square is the heart of Manhattan. This apartment is four blocks from Plaça de Catalunya (the airport bus service begins and ends it's route in Plaça de Catalunya). You could describe "La Rambla" as Barcelona's Fifth Avenue. This apartment is about 50 feet from "La Rambla". You could describe Passeig de Gracia as Barcelona's Park Avenue. This apartment is one block away from Passeig de Gracia. Some sites are necessarily closer than others, Casa Batlló. is about two blocks away, la Segreda Familia is about a 30 minute walk, the Museo Picasso is a 20 minute or so walk (as is the heart of the Gotic Quarter). I'm not young (70 is coming up soon on the old odometer), but I did fine, Barcelona is mostly flat and favors walking. The apartment is a good size and very clean, linens, dishes and cookware are of course supplied, and though the electric kettle needs an upgrade and there was soap but no shampoo, ...did I mention the location?
Our experience at Soledad's apartment was more than brilliant.
Soledad greeted me promptly and showed me around the apartment. The handover went very smoothly. She explained how to use the washing machine, heaters, tv.
The location is perfect. Very central. The neighbourhood is very safe. It's a few blocks from Casa Batllo and Casa Mila. If you walk further down one street you'll end up at Ramblas. There are plenty of shops nearby if you love to shop.
Soledad was kind enough to show give a list options of where to eat, drink and shop too. But if you wander around the area you'll find plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from and most are fairly good.
We didn't really use the train but the station is just a few blocks down. We rented a scooter. There's a bike rental about 15 mins North. And you can park it right in front of the apartment, on the pavement. It's also very easy to get hold of cabs in the area.
The apartment itself is the perfect size for a couple. It's not too small, nor too big. The balcony is quite alright, it doesn't have much of a view but it's nice to be able to step out. There is a school nearby and it could get pretty loud with children playing at the courtyard. That didn't really brother us because we were gone for most of the day and it you won't have any noise in the evening and on weekends. Everything in the apartment worked perfectly fine.
Overall our experience at Sole's place was excellent. We're sure to stay again and refer it to everyone.
Thank you, Sole!
A great location to explore Barcelona: one block away to bus station; 3 blocks away to a major metro station. The host provides a nice list of recommendations for us to try on, including 7 portes and 4 gats! The apartment is nice and cozy. You can almost find everything you need for a decent cooking. Anyway, it's a nice place to stay while visiting Barcelona!
Soledad est une hôte idéale. Elle nous a répondu très vite. Ses conseils envoyés par mail et donnés le jour J étaient très précieux.
Nous avons été très bien accueillis et avons passé un excellent séjour.
Soledad was a total pleasure! Friendly, informative, flexible, and timely. She was also super accessible via email, which was helpful since we didn't have a working SIM card. The apartment itself is PERFECT. It is well appointed, with everything you may need, it's in a very convenient location (just a block from the metro). Better still the bed was totally comfortable. Soledad made us feel very welcome and we are very grateful to have had her around during our time in and around Barcelona.
The area of the apartment is really perfect, in a central location, close to the Rambla, some of Gaudi's houses, and many other fun places to visit. The apartment was clean. Soledad gave very clear instructions of how to arrive from the airport, getting the keys, and leaving. She met us the first day and explained everything clearly, and was very helpful. She was also always very responsive, and also helped get us out of some trouble (Note: Don't accidentally leave the keys in the door and close it when you are outside: They are older types of locks, and so you can't open it even if you have spare keys). The kitchen is very convenient for those who want to cook for themselves. There is an elevator, so no problems with getting in luggage.
