Other Things to Note
EARLY CHECK-INS: Early check-ins are welcome (particularly suited for early landing trans-Atlantic flights). For those making use of this please bear in mind that my previous nights guests do not normally check-out until around 11am. The early check-in allows you drop your luggage, get some hints and tips and to then head out to undertake some early sightseeing.
LATE CHECK-OUTS: Late Check-outs are never a problem. If a new guest arriving on the day you leave then you are welcome to leave your luggage in the front room, take the keys with you, and return at time that is suitable for you to make your onward journey.
PROFILE PIC: As an added security measure I also do not take bookings from guests who have no profile pic, or whose pic is of something that is obviously not them.
I run a relaxed and easy apartment, but as we are in an apartment complex there is a requirement that noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm.
We don't allow pets in the apartment. Smoking is also not allowed inside the apartment, although there is an open air balcony just outside the front door for those need one every now and then :-)
Other than these small things you can essentially treat this great space as your own home.
The apartement was perfect: big enough, clean and in the center of Dublin. Dave gave to us all information related to the city and we were so confortable. We will recoment it 100%
If you have a chance to book this place - do it. Now.
Dave is, by far, one of the best hosts I've encountered. He made sure my stay was convenient in his absolutely fantastic apartment, and all this without even meeting once.
He compiled a very thorough folder with all kinds of tips, advices, instructions and suggestions about my stay, that included the simplest things like how to use public transport, and more sophisticated things like how to operate the washing machine or TV. As I entered the room - a jar of cookies and a pitcher of water were waiting. Just delightful.
The apartment is very beautiful, clean, well equipped and has photos taken by Dave hanging all around the place, which gives it a very nice atmosphere.
The room was spacious and large, had all sorts of chargers already waiting for me, and the bathroom was ensuite, everything was just great.
Location is perfect, hardly 2 minutes walk from Temple Bar, right in the heart of the city and everything was within walking distance.
I haven't met Dave, but his daughter, Heather, welcomed me and made sure I'm alright. She was kind, sweet, caring and very attentive, and made me feel very welcome and at home.
THIS PLACE IS BETTER THAN ANY HOTEL IN DUBLIN! If you can get even one night in Dave's apartment - do it. I'd recommend this place to anyone, any time.
Dave was a very helpful host and provided us with lots of information upon our arrival, including a very useful map highlighting good bars, restaurants and points of interest. The apartment is clean and is in a perfect location within walking distance of most places and also very close to the bus stop.
The location of Dave's apartment is absolutely fantastic! We didn't need to take public transit anywhere (with the exception of the airport) - all the sites were within walking distance. The room in the apartment was great and included a king size bed - perfect for my sister and I to share more than comfortably. The bathroom was an ensuite, so it really felt like we had our own hotel room. The room had a key as well so we felt safe leaving any valuables out. We also had access to his laundry machines in the kitchen of the apartment which we found to be incredibly convenient. There was some slight confusion with meet up to get the key, but that was due to lack of wifi access and immediate communication - we eventually met up with one of Dave's coworkers and were able to be let in the apartment. The only drawback was that the bathroom was slightly outdated and could use a few repairs, but nothing drastic. Overall we were very pleased with our stay in Dublin and would recommend Dave's apartment to anyone!
PS. As an added bonus, Dave is photographer and there are beautiful photos all over the apartment!
I stayed at Dave's apartment for two nights and had an excellent time. The apartmebt is in an excellent location and came with everything I needed for a great stay, including a computer and some extra power converters. While I never met Dave himself, his daughter did an excellent job of keeping in touch and and making herself available if I had any questions.
Heather was a great host and very helpful. Great location in Dublin. Thanks!

About the Host, Dave
I'm from Dublin, Ireland but have spent quite a bit of time in Kansas, USA and have travelled extensively since I was a teenager. As an experienced traveller I know what it is that is most precious to those who find themselves in foreign cultures; a clean and warm bed, a welcoming host, some insights into where the locals go to eat and drink. I have taken all these thoughts and combined them into an experience that I would love to have had in my own travels.
I am a founder member of the Dublin Host Ambassador Group for Airbnb. Our group advises them of improvements we feel will enhance the whole Airbnb experience and we also direct new hosts on the road to creating positive memorable guest interactions.
While I'm always pleased to meet people from any corner of the world, I have to admit that I have an immense fondness for Americans, this comes out of great experience I had living there when I was younger and for the huge amount of support and encouragement I received from some many Americans over so many years. I've not yet an American that I couldn't like!
I have also made many visits to Germany, Austria and Switzerland and enjoy interacting with guests from that neck of the woods. Please bear in mind though, that my German speaking skills extend to being able to order a beer and a donut :-)
I'm a photographer who runs his own photography school which allows me to travel around Ireland, Europe and the USA to shoot scenes that I like, many of these are on the walls of the apartment. If you're also a keen photographer then I look forward to talking cameras, techniques and creativity with you. If you're not then I still look forward to hearing your story!
