The house is very nice and we had a lovely time. We were on a business trip so we only spent the nights in the house -we would have LOVED to enjoy it even more - still, we were so comfortable and glad we found this place. Will definitely be coming back! Julián and his sister Francisca were so nice with such kind hearts.

We enjoyed our stay in San Antonio Palopo. The view from this house is incredible! Right in front of the lake, quiet town stay in, and basic needs are provided for. Our kids loved the ping-pong table, and everyone enjoyed the hammocks. We spent most of our time in the common area outside of the house. The kitchen was small, but we figured out how to make it work having 10 people move in and out of the space the three days we were there. Overall, nice house! Staff was very helpful! We had to pay an additional parking fee, and the parking lot was a couple blocks from our house, but it was fine for us.

The listing was as described with a great view and we had a good experience. The house was old but good for the price. The house is in the small town of San Antonio Palopo and has no cash machine so take all the money with you that you plan to spend. There is no significant night life and minimal internet so this town is geared for someone who wants to get off the beaten path or drop off the grid for a bit. The town is safe and we walked around the entire town during the day and evening and had no issues. A brother and sister who live nearby take care of the house and we arranged with the sister to cook us a typical Mayan breakfast which was beyond excellent. Facing the house there is a small hotel less than two minutes to your right which I can highly recommend for dinner. You can arrange boat rides with the brother to the other towns on the lake which were great.

My stay at Marco's house was lovely. The location is perfect and the view of the Atitlan Lake is breathtaking. The house is really spacious and comfortable. Marco made himself available during all my stay at his house and provided me with useful information. I would totally recommend to stay at Marco's house. The only suggestion I might have if you want to stay in San Antonio, is to put your car in a private parking. We had few issues with our car but Marco and his mom were really helpful .

We loved Marco's place. Marco was very responsive with communication, and what easy to work with. The house was easy to find, it was clean and large enough for seven of us. We LOVED the patio outside; we spent most of our time there. We loved the feel of the town, San Antonio Palopo. It was quiet, relaxed, and didn't include all of the noise and business of Panajachel. The town only has two restaurants, so this town is better for people who don't mind cooking their own food at the house. The house was furnished well, too. The water was hot in the showers, too! Overall, we had a great, relaxing experience!

We enjoyed a long weekend at Marco's place at the Lake. The house has a great front patio with beautiful views of the lake and volcanos. The rooms were cozy and pretty rustic, a bit dusty. We used the fireplace in the living room to keep warm which was great (firewood was easy to find in town). Sunsets from the patio were definitely a highlight of the trip, plus there's ping pong! The house had everything we needed (group of 7), and luckily we had it to ourselves. It would have been a little tight with more folks since there are only 2 bathrooms and one is inside the master bedroom (which has a cool feel with the exposed rocks). The showers were nice, plenty of hot water. Beds were fine. The house is not in a quiet neighborhood. There was lots of noise from the town or neighbors. Surprisingly noisy place. No one seemed to have any trouble sleeping though. San Antonio Palopo is a cool little Mayan town known for the ceramic studios which are very near the house. Some nice stuff. We only tried one local restaurant, a little cafe for breakfast down by the dock which was pretty good. The house is on a nice street near a few hotels right across the street from the water. There's also a small pool at the house which we didn't use (it only had a few inches of water in it). The only problem we had was with the kitchen. The fridge is really old, and froze all our food solid the first night, which ruined a bunch of fresh veggies and other stuff. Even when we turned it down, nothing ever unfroze in there. Not a huge deal, but I'm going to suggest a fridge upgrade. The house could be a bit cleaner too, some cobwebs and dust around different parts. But none of those things got in the way of really enjoying all the positives the house had to offer. The house is cool, especially the master bedroom and patio. Its a great value, in a cool town, and Marco was a super host. We had no problems communicating with him right up to our arrival. His caretakers were hands off (around when we needed them, they helped us book a boat tour to two other towns on the lake) but didn't come to the house other than letting us in the first day. All in all, We'd love to come back here again.

Response from Marco:
Glad you had a good time. But no, that fridge stays! It´s a classic!! Everyone loves it! We ain´t getting rid of it =) I think it works with a WWII airplane engine =). It did have features for less cool. Sorry about that.

Marcos and his mother Carmine could not have been more accommodating. I had missed my flight back to the States and Marcos coordinated not just the preparation of his beautiful home for me by the equally gorgeous lake, but also by coordinating a personal shuttle driver for me immediately directly to the house! Marcos' responsiveness and genuine concern about my well being dissipated the high levels of anxiety I was experience having missed my flight and not being able to leave for another 4 days. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise on lake atitlan made it all worth it! If I am ever back in Guatemala, you can be sure I will revisit Marcos' beautiful home and warm welcome. Muchas gracias!
