I'm an American academic living in Cairo with a spare bedroom for interesting, friendly, and generally pleasant travelers and researchers. My apartment is in the Korba district of Heliopolis, about 20 mins by taxi, 30 mins by metro to the heart of downtown Cairo.
The apartment is large and clean and is in a lovely building built at the end of the 40's. It's within walking distance to restaurants, bars, the metro, and occasionally protests! The apartment has wi-fi and a massive balcony. It's on the second floor but please note there is no elevator.
I'm afraid I can't accommodate single women at present, but the apartment is LGBT friendly. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed and, of course, you're welcome to make yourself at home while you're here.
I totally recommend this place. Adam is a great host, he helped me since the very moment I arrived to Egypt. The place is near to many coffee shops, restaurants and even a supermarket. Thanks, Adam, for the tips, they were very useful.
