We didn't meet Nicola but a friend of him who has accompanied us to the appartment. There was some problem with communication the day of our arrival, so we didn't receive any sms from Nicola, but finally managed to have him by phone. The appartment is perfectly located close to the train station but maybe little far from other neighbourhoods of Venice, so you always have to pass by overcrowded Strada Nova.
The appartment is quite big and very light, but the room and the bathroom are quite outdated. We didn't appreciate red and orange colours of the bed linen, and the bed itself looked quite shabby. The same problem with the shower - quite used shower curtain and impossible to take a shower because the water didn't get evacuated properly.
Little noisy in the morning with the church bells constantly ringing, gulls and some blabbing neighbors.
Nice, spacious and light appartment in wonderfull Cannaregio neighbourhood, being central, quiet and authentic, near vaporetto lines and some good restaurants nearby. Would book it again.
Nicola was a great host. He stayed up quite late to let us in and guide us to the flat, as our flight was very delayed. The flat is beautiful!! Very spacious with a huge, comfortable bed and gorgeous dark wood furniture. Also, perfectly located as the area is easily accessible but not too touristy. Thank you!
Out of the way apt was a great experience. Close to Jewish ghetto and Misicordia nightlife, everything was great, Nicole me us at the 5.2 water ferry. Master Bed very comfortable, bedroom is so spacious. Old grandma below living room so no late night partying! A quiet building with yr round residents. Apt over looks alley which is open space, very nice. Cooked 1 night and olive oil and other condiments were available. We loved the place, wifi was excellent. You feel like your in Venice in this wonderful apt. Small "french" size pull out couch was perform for 2 adult children, might be tough for heavier people. Hard to find a place in Venice that is a better value!!
Nicola met us when we arrived and he was very helpful during our stay. The area is amazing, we ve been walking around and enjoying the city. There are a lot restaurants and cafes near the flat, the supermarket is very close. The apartment is very beautiful.
I definitely recommend this place.
Nicola is a wonderful host, and the Tintoretto apartment couldn't be a better place to visit Venice. Nicola was great in giving us very clear directions on which shuttle to take from the airport, and even met us at the shuttle stop. He explained everything in the apartment extremely well, and gave us a number of very helpful tips for the neighborhood restaurants and wine and snack bars, which really gave our trip to Venice a local flavor.
The apartment itself is wonderfully decorated, and the pictures honestly do not do it justice. It's quaint, but rather spacious, and very warm inside. The kitchen has the same warm feeling, but has recently been remodeled, and has some very modern touches that make it very functional. You could easily cook your own meals here.
But with all of the wonderful restaurants within walking distance - far removed from the usual tourist trap areas and teeming with locals - who would want to cook at home? Some must tries are Osteria L'Orto dei Mori (just steps away) for some exquisite seafood, and Vini Veto (or Vino Veto), a great local Venetian Tapas and wine bar just past the intersection of Fondamenta Misericordia and Calle Zancani.
Back to the apartment, the bed was very comfortable and there is a washer machine if you need to do laundry. The bathroom was well appointed and functional, if a bit small, but we found we had to constantly adjust the water temperature in the shower as it would sometimes get too hot. I guess that's a good problem to have. Much better than the opposite.
The apartment is in a very quiet area, which is great, but you'll need to be quiet as well, and respectful of the neighbors. If you're looking for a party pad, this isn't your place. But if you're looking for a wonderful place to see the real Venice in comfort, this is a must-see.
We would highly recommend it and would love to return some day.
Nicola was really helpful throughout. We met him at the church a short walk from the apartment so he could direct us and answer any of our questions. The flat itself was very clean and comfortable. The area of the flat is amazing. Everyone talks about San Marco and San Polo, which are nice but really busy; whereas Cannaregio felt like traditional Venice before it became a tourist haven. Very peaceful with some great restaurants. There's a great restaurant/bar called Al Timon which attracted a young crowd and stayed open till midnight/1am. Would definitely recommend.
