Beautiful & Central

Apartment - Private room · High Level Road, Cape Town, Western Cape 8005, South Africa

Come and enjoy the most beautiful view of Cape Town and the W&A Waterfront. The apartment is not only luxurious and comfortable but also very central and walking distance from most interesting places. The area and neighborhood is safe and beautiful.

The Space

I have a spacious modern apartment that overlooks the famous V&A Waterfront, the views are truly spectacular! You can literally see the movement of boats in and out of the harbor from the apartment.

In front of the apartment is also a large deck that is ideal for enjoying an early morning coffee or a glass of wine with sunset, a more beautiful view you will not find anywhere.

You are walking distance from everything worth seeing and experiencing in Cape Town, it is a beautiful area to explore on foot. It is close to public transport (the MyCiti bus stop is right in front of the apartment), the city centre and all the walking routes. It also has easy access to the beaches.

My home is comfortable and sunny, filled with paintings and works of art. I also have cable tv, aircon and WiFi. When you stay with me I want you to feel at home. I have travelled extensively myself and will be more than willing to help you make the most of your time in our beautiful city.

The bedroom has a mountain facing view with its own bathroom next door. It has a comfortable double bed and a big window that allows lots of sunlight and fresh air to go through the room. It is a quiet room facing away from the traffic. I have somebody coming in to do laundry and cleaning three times a week.

I do a FREE airport pickup and a self help Breakfast. (I charge $28 for an airport drop off) I proud myself in making the best coffee in town, come and judge for yourself.

Guest Access

I live alone and guests have therefore access to all the spaces in the apartment without feeling that they intrude. It is important to me that guests feels welcome. My house has a warm and welcoming feeling and it has been decorated for comfort.

I love cooking and the kitchen is therefore well stocked and well equipped, you are welcome to cook as well, there is a lot of space to enjoy.

What makes the apartment great is that is has a huge deck that overlooks the ocean, I have put down some real comfortable outside furniture for guests to enjoy. Many evenings we sit outside to enjoy the sunset while having a glass of wine. The weather in Cape Town is ideal for sitting outside, even in winter tne weather is mild.

Interaction with Guests

I am an economist and a businessman and therefore always busy with something in my office which is at the back of the property, luckily I work for myself and can therefore choose when I want to be free.

I like to offer guests a FREE airport pickup to make them feel welcome (I do drop offs for $28). If time allows I spend some evenings with guests chatting, due to business pressure I am not always able to do so, I live a very busy life, always on the go. I do however check in with guests on a daily basis to see if they need any help with their itinerary or any other advice they need.

The Neighborhood

Greenpoint is a beautiful and safe neighborhood to live in, it is also great for walking, especially to the W&A Waterfront or to the Cape Quarter with all its great restaurants and pubs. The city centre is 5 minutes away and fun to explore on foot, including the Bo-Kaap with its bright colored houses or the business of Long street. There is also MyCiti bus stops all around and also right in front of my apartment as well.

Getting around

Our public transport system is called the MyCiti bus service which is super easy to use. There is a MyCity bus stop right in front of my house. You can take the bus into town, to the beaches and even to the airport. It is real easy and real cheap. I keep brochurs of the routes ready for you in the apartment.

Other Things to Note

Depending on my schedule, I enjoy doing private tours in and around Cape Town with guests, including wine tasting in Somerset-West, Stellenbosch and Franschoek. (I love South African wines, especially our Sauvignon Blanc is the best!)

I also offer a tour to Cape Point, including ereas like Campsbay, Houtbay, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Bolders (penguins), Simonstown and Kalkbay OR any other tour that you would like me to tailor for you. Because it is a private tour in my BMW we will travel and adjust to your pace. I charge between a $140 and $150 per trip (max 3 people). It is a real luxury experience to be driven, come and enjoy!

  • Ian was like we did expect, when we have read the old comments.
Very social and helpfull person, when you need him. We absolutly recommend this place, which is the best you can get in Cape town. Just a short walk from Waterfront and the center. The review of the appartment is 20/20. We have promiss Ian to be back to him.

  • I booked a last minute trip as a solo traveler to Cape Town, and could not have had a better stay. Ian is absolutely lovely- picked me up from the airport, showed me around town and recommended some great restaurants. His place has a phenomenal view of the V&A Waterfront and the World Cup Stadium, and is very centrally located. I cannot recommend Ian highly enough- he went above and beyond to make my stay memorable and to share the best of Cape Town with a first time visitor.

  • I had eight delightful nights in Ian's incredible apartment. Ian is a very generous and kind host who goes out of his way to make his guests feel at home. Location would be hard to beat: ten minutes down the hill to the best coffee house in Cape Town and twenty minutes down to waterfront and all the great restaurants....the #105 bus stops a few meters away and goes into downtown and out to Sea was a lucky find and wonderful memories of my stay at Ian's

  • We spent 8 days in Cape Town and found our host, Ian, very, very helpful and friendly from the minute he picked us up at the airport. The flat and the views from it met our expectations. We saw Ian most evenings and he was always willing to give advice and to offer his services. We found Ian a really nice person and he enhanced our stay enormously. We will return.

  • My wife and I traveled throughout South Africa for a month and Ian's place was without a doubt one of the nicest places we stayed at. Not to mention that Ian is extremely helpful and will give you an abundance of information about what to do in and around Cape Town! Lastly, the view from the balcony is beautiful and a great way to start your day!

  • You can't find a more appealing host than Ian, who seems determined to do everything reasonably possible to make your stay in Cape Town enjoyable. He's knowledgeable of all-things-Cape Town (and even beyond), and may even bend his demanding schedule to provide you with a tour of the lovely city's sights and transport you to/from the airport. He was even so kind as to have his tidy housekeeper provide us with laundry service. His flat's location and views are impeccable. Public transportation and inexpensive taxis are readily available, and the location is superb for walking to the V&A waterfront or plethora of intimate cafes and shopping amenities. (Be advised, however, that you'll have to scale 63 steps from the sidewalk before you land inside Ian's digs, but it's totally worth the can work off some of the delicious and inexpensive seafood he'll direct you to!) The only things we'd recommend are that you should (1) upgrade to the larger bedroom with true en suite amenities (if available) and a breathtaking floor-to-ceiling view of the harbor, and (2) extend your stay as long as possible, because Ian represents the very best in impeccable, kind, and honest hosts whom anyone would be blessed to experience first hand.

  • Apartment is exactly as stated in offer - very well located and has got a beatiful view. You can enjoy watching sunrise in the morning just from the terrace!
Ian himself is very communicative, kind and helpful. He gave us some advice about sightseeing and shared with us some guides and maps. I strongly recommend.

And it's perfect for watching sunset over Robben Island! We couldn't recommand more staying at Ian's.

I have a great sense of humor and love being with people although I am also a very private person, I love to cook and entertain people around good food and wine. I love adventure and feel passionate about travelling, if I have only $1 left I will spend it on exploring a new destination. I have travelled extensively myself and still try to do 2 new destinations per year. I like being on airbnb because it gives me an opportunity to connect with other people that love travelling and that have been to places I still want to explore. I studied economics at the University and love being involved in business, developing new concepts and ideas. I like the risk and reward adventure of business. I am also a deeply spiritual person and like to explore spirituality and personal growth. I enjoy change (mostly) and I am committed to grow and develop myself.
