Come and enjoy the most beautiful view of Cape Town and the W&A Waterfront. The apartment is comfortable and very central and walking distance from most places of interest. The neighborhood is also safe and beautiful.
I have a spacious modern apartment that overlooks the famous W&A Waterfront, the views are truly spectacular!
(If you need a little more space, I also offer an apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms right next door called: "Beautiful, Central & Spacious")(or my other bedroom is called "Enjoy being in the centre of beauty")
Whatever you choose I promise you that you are going to love Cape Town!!
You are walking distance from everything worth seeing and experiencing. Greenpoint is a great suburb for walking, it is close to both the W&A Waterfront, De Waterkant, Bo-Kaap and the city centre.
I also offer a FREE airport pickup (if my schedule allows which is most of the time)
The new public bus transport system, called MyCiti, passes right in front of the apartment. (You can also catch theMyCiti bus from the airport to the apartment with one change over in the city centre.)
My home is comfortable and sunny, filled with paintings and works of art. I also have aircon and WiFi.
The apartment has a lot of steps and therefore not suitable for people with disability or who find it hard to walk. I am usually available to help guests with their luggage.
When you stay with me I want you to feel at home. I have travelled extensively myself and will be more than willing to help you make the most of your time in our beautiful city.
The bedroom is smallish with a view of the mountain, away from the street, which makes it a very quiet and cool room.
The room has a double bed and a big window that allows for natural light into the room. The room also has its own bathroom right next door. Although the bedroom does not have a sea view, guests are welcome to use the deck and lounge area to enjoy the views.
I have a housekeeper called Gladys that does cleaning 3 times a week and she will also do your laundry, it is a free service I offer. (if your stay includes a Monday, Wednesday or Friday)
I live alone and guests have therefore access to all the spaces in the apartment without feeling that they intrude. It is important to me that guests feels welcome. My house has a warm and welcoming feeling and it has been decorated for comfort.
I love cooking and the kitchen is therefore well stocked and well equipped, you are welcome to cook as well, there is a lot of space to enjoy.
What makes the apartment great is that is has a huge deck that overlooks the ocean. There is nothing nicer to sit outside in the evening and enjoy the sunset while having a glass of wine. The weather in Cape Town is ideal for sitting outside, even in winter it is mild enough to enjoy the deck.
Interaction with Guests
I am an economist and a businessman and therefore always busy with something in my office which is at the back of the property, luckily I work for myself and can therefore choose when I want to be free.
I like to offer guests a FREE airport pickup to make them feel welcome (I do drop offs for $28). If time allows I spend some evenings with guests chatting, due to business pressure I am not always able to do so, I live a very busy life, always on the go. I do however check in with guests on a daily basis to see if they need any help with their itinerary or any other advice they need.
Greenpoint is a beautiful and safe neighborhood to live in, it is also great for walking, especially to the W&A Waterfront or to the Cape Quarter with all its great restaurants and pubs. The city centre is 5 minutes away and fun to explore on foot, including the Bo-Kaap with its bright colored houses or the business of Long street. There is also MyCiti bus stops all around and also right in front of my apartment as well.
Our public transport system is called the MyCiti bus service which is super easy to use. There is a MyCity bus stop right in front of my house. You can take the bus into town, to the beaches and even to the airport. It is real easy and real cheap. I keep brochurs of the routes ready for you in the apartment.
Other Things to Note
Depending on my schedule, I enjoy doing private tours in and around Cape Town with guests, including wine tasting in Somerset-West, Stellenbosch and Franschoek. (I love South African wines, especially our Sauvignon Blanc is the best!)
I also offer a tour to Cape Point, including ereas like Campsbay, Houtbay, Noordhoek, Kommetjie, Bolders (penguins), Simonstown and Kalkbay OR any other tour that you would like me to tailor for you. Because it is a private tour in my BMW we will travel and adjust to your pace. I charge between a $140 and $150 per trip (max 3 people). It is a real luxury experience to be driven, come and enjoy!
Please be respectful, no drugs or accesive drinking. Safety is important to me and therefore no people can be brought home unless it has been previously arranged with me. (Please no sex tourism, my home is my sanctuary!)
I stayed at the flat during mid February as I was attending a conference at the convention centre. This is an ideal location for getting anywhere in Cake Town (I walked everywhere). Ian is a genuine, top bloke. Met me at the airport and gave me a really interesting tour with great insider knowledge of the area before dropping me off at the flat. He arranges for your clothes to be washed and dried for you, without being intrusive. I'm looking forward to creating a way to come back and explore more of Cape Town using this as my Base!
Thanks Ian for letting us stay in your beautiful appartment! We really had a nice time in Cape Town! You could easily walk from the appartment to the Waterfront and to Long Street (the party place of Cape Town). We took the Citysightseeing bus (the nearest stop is in Waterfront) a lot to for example Kirstenbosch, Hout Bay to swim with seals (really nice!) and to the lower cable station of Table Mountain. We also did the tour with Ian to Cape Point and we saw a lot! It was beautiful! We really enjoyed our time here, so I would highly recommend to stay with Ian in his appartment with the most amazing view in Cape Town. Greetz Ilse from the Netherlands
Ian's flat is a great base to visit Cape Town from. The area is lovely and safe (around 15min walk to the Waterfront) and the flat is equipped with anything you need for a pleasant stay. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning - we loved eating breakfast there.
Ian himself is very helpful and goes the extra mile for his guests. We very much appreciated all the practical tips he gave us, they definitely improved our overall experience.
Great place to stay in cape town. Marvelous view from the balcony and very good to explore ct on foot.
Ian greeted us at the train station and gave us a whirlwind tour of the main city streets and the apartment. He was very friendly and welcoming on that day for one hour, but we did not see him or speak to him again. Based on the description when we'd booked the room in August, we'd thought Ian would be our host and that we had booked a room in his home, but this wasn't the case. We discovered that the other room in the apartment was also a B&B room which had been booked by someone else, and that unlike the other room we didn't have a lock on our bedroom door, which made us uncomfortable. Luckily, the other guest left the next day leaving us with the beautiful apartment to ourselves. We would suggest you clarify this detail with Ian, and make sure the room you book can be locked. The room we booked was at the back of the apartment, which suited us because it is away from the very busy and noisy street at the front where the other room is located. The windows in the back room could use replacing, we had real difficulty sleeping when the neighbours below used their back garden until after 11pm because the sound travelled straight into the room. It seemed that the windows of the room for rent in the front of the building were better insulated and provided more quiet. If you are people who like to stay up late and are not bothered by slight urban noise, this problem could be quite insignificant. The bathroom that comes with this room could also use some renewing BUT the apartment has a fantastic location and we really loved staying there- especially since we had the place to ourselves. The apartment is up a steep set of stairs and would not be suitable for people with mobility problems. We highly recommend this apartment when you visit Cape Town. It is nicely decorated, has a fantastic deck overlooking the city and a wonderful central location near the main sights that makes it a FANTASTIC choice.
The room in the apartment is perfect! The bed is very comfortable and you have your own bathroom. The other room is also for airbnb guests. The best thing ever is the view from the balkony. You can see the waterfront, Stadium, Sea Point, and the Ocean!! We enjoyed the apartment very much and would definitely come back! We parked our Car just across the street, which was very safe. Also you can walk to the City and waterfront at daytime.
Thanks Ian !

I have a great sense of humor and love being with people although I am also a very private person, I love to cook and entertain people around good food and wine.
I love adventure and feel passionate about travelling, if I have only $1 left I will spend it on exploring a new destination. I have travelled extensively myself and still try to do 2 new destinations per year. I like being on airbnb because it gives me an opportunity to connect with other people that love travelling and that have been to places I still want to explore.
I studied economics at the University of Stellenbosch and love being involved in business, developing new concepts and ideas. I like the risk and reward adventure of business.
I am also a deeply spiritual person and like to explore spirituality and personal growth. I enjoy change (mostly) and I am committed to grow and development. I think the single most impotant thing in life is being conscious/present.
