Staying in Zanzan's place is an exceptional experience. Beautiful localization, friendly people and delicious 100% organic food. Not very cheap but worth it! Zanzan's mother cooks incredible meals. Even if you are not vege you won't miss meat. Even the way meals are served is an art.
Our kids were in paradise, too. They enjoyed spring (!) pool very much.
During our 6-day stay we were very lucky to participate in wedding and cremation ceremonies that were in the village this time. Every night we were listening to ceremonial songs which was an amazing lullaby. It was clearly heard from our beautiful bamboo cottage. We miss it already!
Trekking to hidden waterfalls is a must! Unforgettable views on rice fields and forest.
Zanzan, thank you for a great time! And greetings from SuperBoy and Zuza, they call you already an uncle :)
Gede, thank you, too! You were great guide in a village.
Zan Zan and Putu were great host! Friendly, helpful, funny... they really made us feel like home! The facility was nice and comfortable. We're not a fan of vegetarian food but I love all food made by Zan Zan's mother and Putu, delicious :). Unfortunately we didn't have to much time to stay longer and we were regret about that, we'll come back next time for more experience :) Thanks so much Zan Zan and Putu!!
It was so wonderful being in that wonderful place, silence and the green around. I enjoyed have shared lots of wonderful moments with all of you, the good and healthy food cooked by Putu. I still don't realize that I'm back in a very different culture :(
A very big and from the deepest of my heart : Thank you. You were perfect and a wonderful family for sharing Christmas and New Year's Eve together.
Putu and Zanzan are excellent hosts. They'll really make you feel like part of the family. I was the only guest for most of my stay- they made sure I never had a meal alone and invited me to join the community for a special holiday ritual. When they couldn't take me to the Seven Chakras waterfall, they arranged for a relative to go with me.
The bamboo hut was just like the pictures, and the grounds were quiet and peaceful. I found it very relaxing, but it is going back to nature- there was a frog who sat on my door every morning. Take shower shoes or extra flip-flops for the outdoor bathroom and be patient if the water goes out- it happens in the villages sometimes.
In keeping with the Omunity philosophy, there are no locks on the door, but my luggage lock was enough to make me feel secure about leaving my valuables. The compound is gated and situated in the larger family compound, so everything is very safe. The bed was comfortable.
I took the full-board package. The food is both tasty and very healthy. It's local vegetarian cuisine, with a different variety of dishes at every meal.
The included excursions were enjoyable and informative- in addition to the waterfall I was taken to see the palm-water man, cows at the organic fertilizer factory, and around the village to see the jungles and farms. The schools were on holiday or I'd have gone to visit the children and see the local education system- next time for sure.
Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay, and especially getting to know Putu, Zanzan, and their family. North Bali was just the escape I needed. I hope to return soon!
Zanzan and his mother offer a gourmet paradise of zen and elegance, an introduction to Bali culture and beauty and refined Balinese vegetarian cuisine. Enjoy the Kampung (country) environment in this privileged environment, visit the surroundings by foot or by car... A perfect destination in Bali for sightseeing and or relaxation.
Great venue but very hard to find. There different names they use on Airbnb and (website hidden) and there's no signs of it in the neighboring village. If you travel with your own transportation arrange for them to meet you somewhere. Further great food for dinner and breakfast, Not really cheap but good quality.

Hello, my husband Zanzan and I are passionate about connecting friends and guests from all around the world with the beauty and potential that our rural Balinese village has to offer. After working in the hospitality business for many years (i.e. The Ritz-Carlton, Hilton, Arma Group and Fivelements), Zanzan now devotes his time to his hometown Sudaji in Northern Bali. Organic farming, more effective trash removal systems, the many benefits of yoga meditation, and the importance of the English language to our youth are among the numerous projects that he is invloved in.
As native Balinese, we love welcoming new friends into our home and doing whatever we can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have.
