About this listing
Our 100 year old villa has been undergoing years of restoration and renovation. We now can offer guests a separate section of the house with two queen bedrooms, each with ensuite (toilet, shower, basin) and garden view. The rooms have private entrances via French doors and ample outside space to hang out on the porch or in the yard. Guests can park outside their room. The two rooms share a lounge with seating for watching TV/DVD, relaxing or enjoying a cuppa. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the lounge and we provide milk and a baked item in the mornings so guests don't leave on an empty stomach. There are no cooking facilities but Kaikoura has numerous dining and takeaway options. If you absolutely need to cook, check out Blue Heron Bungalows which are self contained holiday homes right next door.
Our house is 80 m from the sea, a short walk to Dolphin Encounter and a 10-15 minute walk to town. The Kaikoura peninsular track can be reached by crossing the street.

Susan was very welcoming into her beautiful home. It was in a great location and was ideal for our stay in Kaikoura. The room was beautiful and had everything we need.
We appreciated Susan's advice on what to see in the local area and what places to visit on our tour of the south island.
We LOVED our stay with Susan! The house is beautiful and we felt right at home. Susan introduced me to fejoia, my new favorite fruit, and left some for us every day. She gave us wonderful recommendations for things to do, and the house was close to town and to the peninsula. Such a beautiful town! We would absolutely stay with Susan again!
Susan was kind and good organized. The room was very cosy. The breakfast was kind of small just a cake. The location was great and perfect to discover kaikoura. We had a nice stay at Susan's home. Thanks!
In our listing we state that we do not provide breakfast, however we do offer a complimentary "breakfast snack" of a baked item and fruit. The location of tea and coffee making items (in the cabinet in the guest lounge and milk in the fridge) were pointed out upon arrival. Sorry for the confusion!
Susan's house is amazing; The accommodation is beautiful and spacious. It was really comfortable for us there and the host was really helpful by welcoming us to her quaint house and giving us amazing tips on what to do in Kaikoura especially the Kaikoura seal colony. The breakfast was yummy too.
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The house is located at a good location to explore the seal colony and peninsula walk. As suggested by Susan, we took a 3-4 hours walk starting from the house to cover these 2 places and then have a lobster meal at the pier restaurant. The house is in excellent condition. We enjoy having our breakfast at the lounge.
Felt totally welcome and taken care of! A gorgeous place to,stay, comfortable and cozy! I love Kaikoura and Susan was the perfect hostess!

About the Host, Susan
Billy, my Kiwi husband, and I have lived in Kaikoura since 2001. Ten years earlier on a NZ cycling trip, we decided Kaikoura should eventually be our home. In the past 30 years we've lived in W. Africa, the U.S., the Middle East, Europe and S.E. Asia. We still enjoy traveling as much as possible, usually by bicycle. However, Kaikoura has indeed become our home and we'd love to help you enjoy it.
