About This Listing
Our 100 year old villa has been undergoing years of restoration and renovation. We now can offer guests a separate section of the house with two queen bedrooms, each with ensuite (toilet, shower, basin) and garden view. The rooms have private entrances via French doors and ample outside space to hang out on the porch or in the yard. Guests can park outside their room. The two rooms share a lounge with seating for watching TV/DVD, relaxing or enjoying a cuppa. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the lounge and we provide milk and a baked item in the mornings so guests don't leave on an empty stomach. There are no cooking facilities but Kaikoura has numerous dining and takeaway options. If you absolutely need to cook, check out Blue Heron Bungalows which are self contained holiday homes right next door.
Our house is 80 m from the sea, a short walk to Dolphin Encounter and a 10-15 minute walk to town. The Kaikoura peninsular track can be reached by crossing the street.
Very quiet, comfortable and great value.

The house is located at a good location to explore the seal colony and peninsula walk. As suggested by Susan, we took a 3-4 hours walk starting from the house to cover these 2 places and then have a lobster meal at the pier restaurant. The house is in excellent condition. We enjoy having our breakfast at the lounge.
Felt totally welcome and taken care of! A gorgeous place to,stay, comfortable and cozy! I love Kaikoura and Susan was the perfect hostess!
Susan was a lovely host and her place in Kaikoura is just beautiful. We would highly recommend staying here for more than one night if possible. A highlight was Susan introducing us to the divine feijoa fruit that must be tried if you haven't yet. Thanks Susan :)
Comfortable cottage feel with the most delicious coffee cake in the morning. About a 10-15 minute walk from the peninsula. Enjoyed out stay!
We really enjoyed our one night at Blue Heron House. Susan was very generous in letting us check in early as we were exhausted after our overnight flight. Billy kindly picked up our luggage from the station as we caught the tourist train from Christchurch which was fabulous. Our bed, room and lounge room was very nice & comfortable. The shower was excellent. The garden was lovely and it was so nice to eat the fruit from the garden for breakfast. Susan was a friendly & helpful host.
Susan showed us around the apartment when we arrived. It was a delightful place- it was beautiful, clean, tidy and spacious. We loved the breakfast prepared by Susan.

About the Host, Susan
Billy, my Kiwi husband, and I have lived in Kaikoura since 2001. Ten years earlier on a NZ cycling trip, we decided Kaikoura should eventually be our home. In the past 30 years we've lived in W. Africa, the U.S., the Middle East, Europe and S.E. Asia. We still enjoy traveling as much as possible, usually by bicycle. However, Kaikoura has indeed become our home and we'd love to help you enjoy it.
