Our 100 year old villa has been undergoing years of restoration and renovation. We now can offer guests a separate section of the house with two queen bedrooms, each with ensuite (toilet, shower, basin) and garden view. The rooms have private entrances via French doors and ample outside space to hang out on the porch or in the yard. Guests can park outside their room. The two rooms share a lounge with seating for watching TV/DVD, relaxing or enjoying a cuppa. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the lounge and we provide milk and a baked item in the mornings so guests don't leave on an empty stomach. There are no cooking facilities but Kaikoura has numerous dining and takeaway options. If you absolutely need to cook, check out Blue Heron Bungalows which are self contained holiday homes right next door.
Our house is 80 m from the sea, a short walk to Dolphin Encounter and a 10-15 minute walk to town. The Kaikoura peninsular track can be reached by crossing the street.
Very quiet, comfortable and great value.
Adults only, please.
You are booking 1 room for maximum 2 people.
If you require both rooms please send me a message and I will respond with an offer that will allow you to book both rooms together.

P.S. There is a cat on the premises but she is the world's most timid cat, you'll probably never see her.
Earlier reviews are entirely accurate and we would happily agree with them - this is a lovely place to stay for one or more nights depending on your schedule.
Nice clean guesthouse in Kaikoura about 20 mins walk from the centre of the town. Lovely deck and garden round the house.
Delicious breakfast cake and grapefruit were left out for us each morning in the shared lounge along with tea and coffee making facilities.
Highly recommend heading to the Pier Hotel for some dinner whilst you're in Kaikoura which is about 15 minutes walk further round the bay away from the town centre
a beautifully restored old home with lush garden, blue heron house is decorated with artwork and furnishings gathered from susie and billy's many years living and working abroad. the garden is amazing, producing fruits and vegetables that in my experience do not grow together - bamboo, citrus, chestnuts, almonds, poppies, agapanthus, blackberries, nectarines, artichokes, fuschias. the sunny veranda is a great place for sundowners. the rooms in the house are large and beautifully appointed and immaculate. there are also two bungalows nearby with full kitchens. homemade cake and fresh fruit from the yard are served for breakfast in the lounge which also has a television, dvd player, and a selection of dvds. the house is walking distance from restaurants, attractions, shopping and the ocean. extra touches i really appreciated - tour of the house and gardens, flannel sheets and handmade quilt, screened door, ceiling fan, space heater, fan and heater in the en suite bathroom. this is an exceptional property and a great value.
A wonderful short stay. It was too hot to do much more than sit on the deck surrounded by the beautiful garden, and then on to the lawn under the big old trees. Susan and Billie were very welcoming, accommodating, beautiful rooms and the perfect breakfast (even though they say it is not breakfast). A great place to stay, thankyou.
We had such a great stay at the Blue Heron House. It was the first night of our trip, and it couldn't have been a better place to stay. Kaikoura was a beautiful town, and Susan was a great host. She offered up a fresh fruit breakfast along with homemade bread.
Blue Heron House is a comfy, spacious B&B in a beautifully restored old house one block from the sea and very close to the central business district. I would definitely try to reserve it again if I were going to Kaikoura.
We had a beautifull stay in the Blue Heron House. Very clean and tidy with en ensuite bathroom. We enjoyed very much and would recommend this place to stay for everyone. Thanks.
My husband and I enjoyed staying with Susie. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were guests for only one night. This is a perfect place to stay in Kaikoura. Quiet neighborhood, convenient to the center.
We stayed at Susan's home to break up the drive north, as we headed to Golden Bay for a wedding, having flown into Christchurch that afternoon. As soon as we arrived, we wished we could stay for a week! The gardens are lush and expansive, the house is charming and testament to Susan's worldly travels. We slept particularly well on the comfortable bed, tucked under homemade quilts. Our room, bathroom and the shared living room were exceptionally neat and clean. Flannels (face-washers) were provided in addition to towels, which we thought was a sweet touch. With Susan's kind hospitality we felt instantly at home. We were sustained for our drive the next day, thanks to lovely homemade zucchini cake. We highly recommend booking in here and staying for as long as your itinerary permits!
Susan and Billy were wonderful hosts - very helpful and friendly. The rooms and the house itself with its huge inviting veranda and garden are just beautiful, in a very good condition and very clean. The house is not far away from the town center and Susan was so kind to lend us their bikes. We especially enjoyed the fresh fruit from the garden. We can highly recommend staying here.
