During the Mardi Gras, we stayed at Marla's place, two young couples. The city, the people and the cozy place made our vacation just perfect. Marla is incredible warm host- she left for us beers, cake and prepare for us a "mardi gras welcome kit", explained how the things "work in the city" and suggested places to eat at. Thnx Marla a lot for everything
What can't we say about Marla - the perfect hostess! Starting with a welcome basket with New Orleans Mardi Gras beads a plenty, various seasonal chocolates, hot sauces, and gourmet dog treats. Her home is a New Orleans style shotgun duplex, decorated with antique/vintage flair with local touches. She didn't miss a beat: fresh coffee beans, several bottles of champagne and regular/mineral water, and lots of towels/extra linens. She is 10 minutes to everything: French Quarter, City Park, downtown, Superdome, etc. She even had a back way instructions to the dome that saved us all the hassle of taking the highway and fighting traffic. Her recommendations for dinner and other sites were flawless and perfect. Do try Mundo's, but you must have reservations, which Marla arranged for us before we arrived for our visit. We were treated like old college friends visiting from out of town. Marla was always available via phone/text to answer any questions. Our small dog was most welcome too, with dog food and home-made treats provided. Marla is a light smoker, but it was not a problem for our non-smoking group of 6 as the HVAC kept the air fresh. The ceilings are like 14 feet, adding to the wonderful interior and exterior architectural touches. There is unlimited hot water on demand with two full bathrooms and fully outfitted kitchen. We had such a wonderful New Year's visit with the Sugar Bowl too. This is our first Airbnb experience and this visit is truly a model for how to do it and do it well. Thank you, Marla!!
As advertised, this was two blocks away from Jazzfest front gates. Couldn't ask for a better location super close to the fairgrounds. Marla and the house were very nice.
Marla was a tremendous host. The place was exactly how she described and more. Me and my group could not have asked for a better location for Jazz Fest and Marla suggested things to do and see while we navigated the weekend.
