About this listing
Well situated in the centre of the city, but at the same time away of the noisy atmosphere. Fully equipped with everything a guest may need this oasis at the centre is looking forward to be your place for your Athenian days.
Cosy 20m2 studio in the city-centre surrounded by a bright and leafy yard. The studio is quiet as it is a fair distance away from the road and is located at the foot of Strefi Hill, where one can go for an evening stroll. It has its own separate entrance, independent from the rest of the house, as well as its own bathroom and small kitchen. Situated in the neighbourhood of Exarchia, it is only a 5min walk away from Panepistimio or Omonoia metro (tube) stations, and provides easy access to other means of public transportation (buses, trolleys, tram etc.). The major archaeological sites are within walking distance too. For instance the archaeological museum is just five blocks away, and the Acropolis with its new museum is within 30mins walking distance. Monastiraki square and Plaka (the old town) are just a 20min walk away, and Psyri and Keramikos square, where the heart of Athens nightlife is located, are either a 15min walk, or a metro station away respectively. Ideal for couples who want to explore the diverse centre of the city, as well as students attending seminars or professionals on business trips. The room can accommodate up to three people, or a family with one child. The house, built in 1920 just after the First World War, is steeped in history. On the trunk of the palm tree which stands in the yard, you can still see the marks left by the bullets from the street fights in Athens during the Greek civil war in 1946. In the 80’s and 90’s the house was one of the most (some claim the most) famous rock-bars of the city, with many local and international rock-stars including Nick Cave having performed on its stage. Its yard, separated into different levels, is a cool and welcome oasis of plants and trees, giving the impression that you are somewhere far away from the noisy and crowded centre of a big city. It is perfect for enjoying your breakfast, lunch, or an al fresco glass of wine, or just relaxing and unwinding after a tiring day of sightseeing.
We were greeted promptly upon arrival by Romanos, who was super friendly and nice from the start. Showed us around the space and made sure we had everything we needed. As if that wasn't enough, he then sat us down with a handmade map and showed us where to go around Athens with his own personal recommendations. Then his mom made us a delicious, traditional lunch! All in all a great experience. The space was beautiful as well. It had a nice, sunlight garden to relax in and a comfy bed and a very self-serving, utilitarian kitchen.
The place is great! We were greeted (later than expected) by Romanos' brother who gave a us a tour and gave us food that his mother had prepared for our arrival. He also told us how far we were from all of the attractions we wanted to see, and based off our interests have other recommendations. The apartment was very nice, AC and wifi both worked very well, and we were able to cook ourselves dinner both nights in the little kitchen. When we were leaving, Romanos let us store our bags until our flight, and when we came back to get them his mother called us a taxi to the airport. Overall great experience!
Great experience. Maria, Romano's mother, was waiting for us and warmly welcomed us and provided a delicious "en cas", but also bread, butter, oranges, marmelade and organic eggs for our breakfast ! Romano answered so kindly to all our questions and drived us to the busstop when we leaved.
The name "dream studio" il totally adequate : nice, clean, fresh (air conditionning) and even a small bottle of white wine and raki in the fridge. The terrace, full of plants and flower is beautiful. Better is impossible ! Thanks you so much.
We couldn't have asked for more comfortable accommodations or a kinder and more generous host than Romanos and his family. The Dream studio was not only spacious and clean but also, incredibly pleasant. We had access to a small garden, and Romanos and his family did everything to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. Romanos gave us directions on how to navigate Athens without us having to even ask. Moreover, his mother prepared us a wonderful snack upon our arrival and even furnished us with some wine and ouzo. The proximity of the studio to the highlights of Athens is incredible. Within minutes we walked to the archeology museum and the Acropolis was no more than fifteen minutes away by foot. The neighborhood where we stayed was incredibly interesting, and we did not have to travel more than a block or two to find wonderful restaurants and coffee shops. My only regret is that we did not stay longer!
My partner and I stayed in the apartment for 3 nights at the start of our journey in Greece and 4 nights at the end as we were flying into Athens and home from Athens.
The apartment is easliy accessible by Metro and a a short walking distance to several stations. On arrival one of our suitcases was missing in transfer and Romanos was very helpful in speaking to the lady at the airport and arranging having the suitcase delivered the next day.
Due to missing suitcase we arrived later than expected in the apartment but were still greeted by Romanos brother who showed us around and provided an excellent map of the city with great routes. Romanos mother also provided us a delightful platter of delicious Greek food and even catered to our vegetraian needs (this was for both our stays in the Studio). We did not expect this on arrival and this really made us feel at home straight away. We even had access to the outdoor seating area which is made us of several levels and was like a beautiful secret garden. This was great for meals and a bit of down time after a long day of walking around Athens.
The studio was perfect for our needs including a small area to cook when we did not want to eat out. There was a good size fridge which is stocked with freezing cold water, a small bottle of wine and raki. We were also provided with fresh oranges which we used to make fresh juice in the morning.
The room had excellent air conditioning and wi-fi. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent with a good sized shower. The decor was very homely and modern. The aprtment was cleaned to a high standard.
All people involved in hosting us were very helpful, friendly and accomodating. Romanos even invited us out one evening for drinks and food with his friends. This was a nice way to find out more about Greek culture and politics. Romanos also assisted us with all our queries and booked us taxis when our knowlege of the Greek language failed.
I would highly recommend this apartment and we hope to return in the future. Thank you for hosting us.
You are part of the family in this DREAM STUDIO! We felt so welcomed by Romano's brother Jason. Home cooked local cuisine from Mrs. Kokkinakis and a detailed description of the neighborhood and the sights made our brief stay so enjoyable. The pictures do not do this place justice and the pictures are excellent. This studio is surrounded by fun restaurants including a former elementary school that now turns out delicious Greek Traditional Food just down the street. The studio is its own oasis with several different levels of patio filled with vegetation and hammocks. We will be back to Athens and specifically to this studio. I can't express enough how happy you will be if you stay with these lovely gentlemen. Thank you guys! See you soon!
