Location, location, location! 5 minute walk from the San Clemente beach and pier and some very good surf spots like Trestles and T-Street. 2 blocks over from many restaurants and bars on Avenida Del Mar (main street), as well as the central downtown village shops. Offering a basic small private room with a queen sized (website hidden) with Netflix & HBO movies and free wifi internet. Living room has a nice view of the ocean and sunsets. It's most likely the lowest priced room on Airbnb for San Clemente - but don't let that mislead you - it's a great beach close location in a safe neighborhood. Clean simple and basic but with the things you need. The room is small but hopefully you're here to enjoy the beach or out doing things - the bed is comfortable. Apartment is an older building but simply furnished, and clean. You are welcome to use the kitchen. Easy going accommodating hosts. Complimentary continental breakfast (coffee, toast, bagels, oatmeal, fruit) - enjoy it on the balcony with a peek view of the ocean. Bathroom is shared - but it is clean. Smoking is okay on patio. Located 40 minutes south of Disneyland and 1 hour north of Sea World and San Diego. There are two train stations in town, both walking distance - running north and south that will take you to either San Diego or Los Angeles. Located very close to the pier Amtrak and Metrolink stations and about a mile down the beach from Clemente North Beach train station. Bus lines are close located two blocks away. Convenience store is a 2 minute walk up the street. There are many bars at the top of our street - known in San Clemente as "the Triangle." They include Red Fox Lounge, Ole's Tavern, Dukes and Goody's. Nearby Avenida Del Mar has numerous restaurants of all price ranges from Pizza to Thai.
I live here with my boyfriend (gay couple) If that makes you uncomfortable you should probably choose another place. It's a 3 bedroom apt and there may be another Airbnb guest in the other room.
The unit has a electronic keyless entry system. Just punch in the provided code to enter the unit. No keys to lose. Never locked out.
If you like to run there is a great beach trail just down the street that will take you 5 miles or more along the beach and cliffs.
Traveling between San Diego and Los Angeles? San Clemente is a great midway small beach town between those two cities.
There are no reserved parking spots here - PARKING ON THE STREET ONLY. We are beach close so parking can be tricky at certain times - though it's certainly not impossible. Worst case you may have to walk a block. I'll provide detailed directions on exactly where it's easiest to find. During the day there is often parking right in front.
It's nice when potential guests have taken the time to write some information about themselves in their profile and perhaps uploaded some pictures so that as a host you have some idea of who the potential guests are and what the purpose of their trip is. This is especially true if you have never used Airbnb and don't have any reviews. If you're new to Airbnb and have no reviews please give a little information about you and the reason for your trip.
If you're looking for luxury or fancy - this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a great value in the best location - we are usually the least expensive listing in San Clemente. None of the budget motels here are this close to the water. California surfer style beach close apartment with friendly accommodating hosts.
Free use of my 2 body boards, 2 surfboards(one long one short), large wetsuit, large swim fins, portable bbq, ice chest, paddle ball, frisbee, football, beach umbrella and 1 bike, . The same soft top surfboard (Wavestorm longboard softtop from Costco) rents at a shop down by the pier for $30 a day! And one epoxy shortboard. If it's you're first time surfing we can usually arrange for a beginner's lesson where I go out with you. Come enjoy a complete California surfing experience!
You can use the kitchen fully. I make coffee every morning when I'm here - help yourself to it or make some if you like.
If you are traveling without a computer/laptop I typically have either a tablet computer or laptop computer that you can use to access the internet.
Street parking only - no driveway parking spots. Not even temporarily.
If you're visiting from another country I have a couple of Redpocket SIMS that you can use to connect your unlocked phone for cell service - we also have a house phone you are welcome to use. If you're traveling without a computer I usually have a laptop or tablet available that you can use to access Internet.
Interaction with Guests
As much or little as guest prefer. Some guest want to keep to themselves and do their own thing - often I am doing computer work on my computer in my room - so it just depends on the guest and what they feel comfortable with. If you want to keep to yourself it's no problem - your privacy will be completely respected. The bedroom door is located near apt front door so you can come and go easily without walking through entire apartment.
Very close to the beach, restaurants and bars. A great walking town. I've been here since 1998 and can give you the inside story on where to go and what to do and where to eat. If you're looking for something in particular let me know!
We are walking distance from the train and bus stops. Friday Saturday nights there are taxi stands at the bars up the street at night. there is usually one Lyft or Uber driver in the area. If you are a first time Uber or Lyft user I can send you $25 free credit towards your first ride on Lyft and $30 on Uber.
Other Things to Note
We seem to most enjoy hosting travelers, backpacker, and hosteler types most as they tend to be easy going and forgiving of minor things. We live here - it's not a hotel so please don't expect perfection. We've priced it well below similar private rooms in this city. This is supposed to be fun ;)
I list gym as an amenity - there is no gym on site - but there is one that I use walking distance right up the street and if you're interested in working out I can usually get some free week passes if you let me know ahead of your visit that you're interested.
There is a coin operated washer and dryer on site. There is a laundromat walking distance up the street.
Help yours to coffee/tea, sometimes fruit, toast or bagels and cream cheese.
I have extra razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soaps, shampoos, sunscreen you are welcome to use on a shelf in the bathroom.
If you're into yoga lately we've discovered a great free group that does it in the park nearby everyday at 10 am. You can give a donation if you like. It's in a beautiful park that overlooks the ocean. it's a bout a 10 minute drive to Dana Point. If I'm going you're welcome to join.
Some guests have asked if medical marijuana is ok - and this is not a problem here.
PARKING ON STREET ONLY.
Not a good place if you like to party loudly. My roommates and I do drink sometimes - but we'll be respectful if you're going to bed early. We have to be considerate of other neighbors in this triplex. Loud music or late nights on the outside deck are not good (after 10pm on the deck).
Many ask what time is ok to arrive. Arriving just about any time is no problem. Late arrivals are fine. The apartment front door is operated by a key code so I don't have to be here to give you a key or to let you in.
Please be sure to lock the door any time you leave. Be on the safe side and don't assume anyone else is here or in their room and just lock it any time you leave.
Cigarette smoking is fine out side on the patio.
I follow the"Flexible" cancellation policy - please read and understand it before booking the room. It requires at least 24 hour notice of cancellation before your reservation is to begin if like a refund.
Allen was prompt in his communication and we felt very welcome from the beginning. He and his partner were both friendly and relaxed and we felt like visiting a friends' house. Allen gave us plenty of tips and was very helpful. Great hosts!
The bed was good, the shared bathroom clean, and the kitchen + living room comfortable. We loved the balcony, where you can catch the sunset in the evening.
The place was walking distance to the beach and to the main street with many restaurants. So no need for a car! And Allen does have a bike to borrow, if you want to go somewhere further away.
San Clementine itself was a charming, relaxed beach town. A great place to stop on our California Coast trip.
Allen is a great Airbnb host and my stay was perfect. His introduction email had all the details I needed and more and I'll hopefully stay again if he has availability next time I'm in town!
One of my best airbnb experience so far - I couldn't imagine to find a better place to stay. Besides the comfortable and clean room, Allen and his boyfriend were extremely friendly and helpful. They even helped me to connect with local people. The neighborhood is great and extremely convenient (close to downtown with lots of restaurants, stores, etc.). I would like to highly recommend Allen's home to you as a recommendation with particular emphasis and without any reservations.
Allen is a great host! His place being exactly as described, nothing fancy, but still very accomadating. The beach was just 5 mins away with some of the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen.
My partner and I spent three days and Allen was more than helpful with all our needs, including jumping or car when the battery died.
His place is LGBTQ friendly which was absolutely essential for us being that we are a queer couple.
I absolutely recommend Allen's home for a wonderful getaway to a qaint town with a spectacular beach!
Allen was great, Exceptional. San Clemente was Beautiful. The room was just as described, nice and neat. Highly recommend a visit to this location.
Allen is the coolest, he went way above and beyond in his role as host for me and my traveling partner. We were in need of nothing thanks to Allen. He treated me like I good cousin. His accommodations were just as described clean, comfortable and private. The view was spectacular, I suggest waking up early for a cup of coffee, grabbing a chair at his kitchen table or one of his big soft couches and waiting for the sun to come up and shine on beautiful San Clemente, the ocean and buildings. Stunning. After that WALK just a few short blocks to the pier and have breakfast at one of the many restaurants, mmm, or go window shopping, there are so many shops to choose from. The metro runs close by and some of the locals take it to Olvera St. or China Town in L.A. to have lunch and come right back afterwards for only $10, WOW, unbeatable.
The night life is vibrant. Again, within walking distance you will find a variety of restaurants and night clubs lining the main street to make a wonderful social event for the evening. You might even run into your host and his lovely neighbor.
I can write for some time about the hosts exceptional concern for his guests and the treasure that is San Clemete but would rather end this review by encouraging the traveler who is desiring a truly memorable experience in Southern California to visit Allens little piece of paradise for her/his self.

Very easy going guy. 45 years old. Can tell you all about the town and what to see and do. Work as a web developer. Love to meet new people. Love to travel. About 4 years ago spent a year traveling through Asia. Spent a lot of time in Thailand, Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia and Taiwan. I'm a California native born in Whittier and have lived most of my life in Orange County. In addition to English I speak Spanish fairly well. I've been providing space for airbnb guests now since about December 2012. It's been a lot of fun and I've met some interesting people. Some come and do their own thing and or are working and want to be left alone others I've enjoyed showing around the town or going surfing with. Your privacy is completely respected. I'm kind of a computer and technology geek. I work from home with a small company that provides does various IT (Information Technology) services for small companies - "web hosting" if you're familiar with that. My apartment is nothing fancy, it's a very simple basic space but I strive to keep it clean and to keep guests comfortable. After traveling for a year in Asia I think I've learned the various aspects of making a place comfortable someone who is traveling. I've lived in San Clemente for about 15 years and I love the town! I should also add that I'm gay and live here with my boyfriend Shawn.
