The common room is the main room in the house. It is surrounded by the kitchen, bathroom, two bedrooms and a porch. It combines the dining room and a sitting room. At night the two futons in the sitting area become beds. There is no privacy in th
This is a common central living/dining area in a small cottage in which there are two single-size futons available at $20 each per night ($30/night on holiday weekends). A double-size foam mattress also is available for sleeping on the floor ($10/night). If you want to bring your own sleeping bag and/or air mattress, there is a $5/night charge for use of facilities. No a/c but windows on three walls provide plenty of breezes from Rehoboth Bay (one mile south) and the ocean (one mile east) except on the hottest nights (bring a fan). This old cabin features the usual beach critters both inside (ants, spiders and crickets but no cockroaches) and outside (deer, squirrels and rabbits) in a quiet community wedged between Rehoboth and Dewey Beach just back of the ocean. The common room offers no privacy but if all you are looking for is an inexpensive place at the beach to sleep and have a hot shower, this cottage will suit you.
No cable, no TV, no phone, no w/d (clothes line outside). No linens provided. Guests must bring sheets, pillow cases and towels. WiFi available. Use of fridge and stove permitted and hot shower available but few other amenities. Furniture is well worn but functional.
Interaction with Guests
The owner is usually on premises and can interact with guests as much or as little as they prefer.
Bay Vista is an older community of modest single family homes and cottages that was carved out of a farm in the 1950s. Newer homes built in the past 10 years tend to be more upscale, reflecting the community's location astride the Lewes-Rehoboth canal, which opens into the Delaware Bay on the north and Rehoboth Bay on the south.
Five minutes to beach by car; ten minutes by bike; 30 minute walk to resort bus terminal; 40 minute walk to beach.
Other Things to Note
Ride to and from the cottage from the Washington, DC and Annapolis areas also offered at extra charge. This space is designed to typically accommodate a family of four with two children who are mid-teens or younger. As such the space generally is not offered for rent separately until the guest room has been rented. Feel free to inquire whether we can accommodate you.
No drugs, no smoking indoors and contain butts outdoors. Trash pick up service on Monday morning. Please use outdoor shower after the beach. Guests have full kitchen privileges, including use of pots, pans, dishes and utensils, but are asked to clean up thoroughly after each use.
Quiet little place in a nice part of the neighborhood! Was just in for the night and Fred was very accommodating and friendly. Can't beat the price:) thanks again!
Fred is a really nice guy, good host, I enjoyed chatting with him. He could clean the house more though (got a bad allergic reaction on dust) but for 20 dollars, i guess i cannot demand too much, the location was great and all-in-all i'd recommend the stay to anyone.
Great stay. Comfortable, easy access to downtown, and Fred was helpful, welcoming, and hospitable.
Accommodations were sufficient but it would have been nice to be told to bring pillow cases and sheets. I slept on my beach towel because the futons did not appear to be very clean.
I had a great, comfortable time staying at Fred's place. It's a great price for the accomodations, and as a CouchSurfer, I'm very comfortable with minimal accomodations. Fred was very hospitable and a great host. If I'm in Rehoboth Beach again, I would gladly stay with him again.
Had a great stay at Fred's cottage in Rehoboth Beach. The cottage is a few minutes drive to the beach and is close to Coastal Highway which hosts a ton of restaurants, and even an outlet mall (if you're looking for a break from the beach).
Fred kept in great communication with us during the planning stages and was extremely flexible during our stay. Hope to be back in Rehoboth Beach again.

I love to entertain and hosts groups that like to party. There is a bar on the enclosed front porch. In addition to the futons and foam mattress there also is a guest bedroom (twin beds) available.
