Funky East Austin House on bus line

House - Private room · Ledesma Road, Austin, TX 78721, United States

The Space

I have a modest yet cozy room in an older East Austin home available for rent during the SXSW film/interactive/music festival.

The house is an funky old place with lots of character. A four bedroom two bath house with hard woods and concrete floors. I live there with my fiancé, a roommate and a cat named Alice Coltrane. The room is in the back of the house and is fairly quiet. You would be sharing a bathroom with one of the residents of the house.

It's true the house is pretty far East Austin. However, the #2 bus stops right in front of the house and will take you straight downtown in fifteen minutes. No need to transfer to another bus! There are usually many car2go vehicles in the area if you care to join their car share service. It's a straight shot down Oak Springs/11th St from my house directly to downtown, so if you rent your own car, bicycle or scooter it's extremely easy to get where you need to go.

Also, feel free to use the kitchen to make breakfast and store whatever you need in the fridge. We also have a washer and dryer if you need to do any laundry.

Nearby... there is a Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Walgreens, convenient store, Jack in the Box, Church's Chicken and McDonalds in walking distance. If you go a little further west down 11th street there are some great cafes like Hillside Farmacy (my personal fave, they serve Stumptown Coffee!!!), the Blue Dalia French Bistro, The Quickie Pickie, a Jamiacan food trailer, The Longbranch Inn(bar), Victory Grill, East Side Yoga, and the now famous Franklin's BBQ.

David and I are casual, easy-going people. We love watching movies and eating breakfast. I'll be attending SXSW film representing my press outlet, (website hidden). David is an actor and works with many local theater and media companies. Our roommate Jeff is also an actor and is frequently out and about. You may not ever even see him.

Finally, if you do rent a car there is plenty of parking on the street. Can't wait to meet you!

  • I had a great time in Austin for the SXSW festival. Sarah and her partner David made me feel very welcome and treated me as a friend. We went out a few times together and had good fun.
So the things that makes Sarah's place great are...Sarah and David.
The room is fine, but the area and house are probably more for the more adventurous traveler: so don't expect a pristine environment or complete privacy..this for me was no issue and is in the spirit of SXSW, so I had a great time with Sarah and David.

About
I'm a 34 year old aspiring writer, dancer, bartender, busy-body. There's hardly a moment of the day I'm not doing SOMETHING! It's a curse and a blessing... I read a lot and I watch a lot of movies. I also sometimes write what I think about these these things on a website called Nerdlocker. Yes, I'm a bit of a nerd, and I'm okay with that! I've travelled a bit, mostly in the US and Asia (I lived in Kyoto, Japan in 2008), and wish I could travel more. I love food, wine and fancy cocktails (I'll make you one if you like:-). I also love old jazz and tap dancing (I'm not very good at that yet, though, so I won't bring my tap shoes to your place). I have some tattoos that represent things I like. Japanese art, Star Wars and Buddhism mostly. I tend to travel light, but always seem to bring too many books. I never know what I am going to want to read (I desperately need a Kindle, seriously). I'm also pretty meticulous about being tidy and organized. My bag won't explode all over the room once I set it down, I promise:-) Oh, and my amazing boyfriend is an actor. His play, The Intergalactic Nemisis, is doing a two week run at the New Victory Theater in NYC at the beginning of April! He's kind of like a cross between Neil Patrick Harris and Steve McQueen (yeah, I know, awesome!), and quite possibly the funniest and nicest guy I have ever met.
