We loved staying in Koichi's place. The house is very spacious, with a circular plan on the bottom that my kids loved and lots of light and charm. The kitchen is well-equipped for cooking we loved the big dining room table for eating and gathering at. The neighborhood is very convenient and fun with a market two blocks away and great restaurants and coffee places a few blocks farther. Koichi was very responsive and helpful whenever we had questions.
This house is actually larger than it appears in the pictures - was quite surprised at how spacious it was. It was well stocked with pretty much everything we needed... though it was missing a vacuum which Koichi was accommodating enough to have one sent to the house during our stay. He was very responsive and made sure we were taken care of.
Thanks for sharing your home with us, Koichi.
Koichi made us feel instantly welcome in his home. From the initial note to say hello, we felt he would be available for anything we might need during our month-long stay. Koichi checked in with us weekly to see how we were doing, and even checked to make sure we were okay when we accidentally set the house alarm off a couple of times (oops!)
The description of the house actually understated the size, if anything! We had plenty of space for spreading out. The kitchen was extremely well appointed with all gadgets etc that anyone could possibly need, as well as basic (and some not so basic) spices and kitchen essentials. The beds were super comfortable- greatly appreciated for a longer stay, and loads of linens available if needed.
The neighborhood is very conveniently located just a couple of blocks from the wonderful New Seasons market, and just a 10 minute stroll over to the amazing Mississippi district's restaurants/bars etc. Our favourite Tasty n Sons is just a couple minutes up the street, as well as Hopworks Bike Bar...yum! A three minute walk will see you on a 4,6, or 44 bus into town, or a slightly longer walk past the Mississippi area will get you on the Max Yellow Line. A trip from the airport on the Red Max line, and a short bus ride will get you very close to the house. All extremely easy to navigate, meaning a car is absolutely not necessary.
All in all a great place to call "home" for a month; can't recommend highly enough!
house was clean and comfortable and the only negative was a random break in of my girlfriend's car (stole her knitting bag after breaking the window early dawn on a Saturday). I was there for a full three weeks and enjoyed it and would recommend the home to anyone. Do note that while there are three bedrooms, one is set up as a media room with no bed.
We had a wonderful 2-month stay in Portland. Koichi was a great host who periodically checked in on how we were doing. The house was very comfortable & well stocked with all the necessary amenities. We especially loved how it was in easy walking distance to the enclave of shops, pubs, restaurants, coffee houses & live music on both Williams & Mississippi. Loved quaffing German beers in the evening at the Prost after a long bike ride & my mid morning cup of java at the Fresh Pot. The food & coctails at Tasty & Son's Chop are exquisite.
