We booked this place on the recommendation of friends who had previously stayed here and loved it. There was an issue with the water/plumbing right before we arrived, and Kristina did a tremendous job of planning ahead, staying in clear communications and booking accommodations and ensuring we still had a great time while in Guatemala City. Would recommend Kristina as a host!
Kristina’s two-story house is roomy, peaceful and comfortable, with a beautiful, well-groomed garden. However if you are carrying heavy luggage this is probably not the place for you, since in order to access the house you’ll need to descend two long flights of stairs (that get quite slippery when it rains).
Both the master bedroom and the smaller guest room would really benefit from some updating. Beds, bed linens, pillows and towels were not as fresh as they should.
The kitchen is fully furnished. Wifi works, although it’s kind of slow. Excellent water pressure. Mosquitoes kept me constant company. Cable TV didn’t work.
Location in Zona 14 in Guatemala City, near the end of Avenida Las Americas, was perfect for my needs. You will need a car / cab to move around.
Kristina replied promptly to all my questions, and was nice enough to be flexible with check-in and check-out times. When I informed her I had accidentally scorched one of the pots from her kitchen, she was gracious enough let me repair my sin for a nominal charge - without getting mad at me :)
One morning I was surprised to see two unknown men in the garden. At first I thought they were thieves, and almost called the police I then learned they were just the gardeners, on their regular weekly visit, who have entered (without announcing themselves) through a backdoor connecting to a neighboring home. I think I should have informed about their visit, and particularly about the fact that they had direct access to the property without the need of knocking the door.
Highly recommend Kristrina's place!!!!! Thank you very much Kristina, Lisseth and Patty!!
Nos encanta quedarnos en casa de Kristina ! no es nuestra primera experiencia, y siempre todo esta en orden y como ella lo dispone.
Super recomendado para rentar su casa. Es muy agradable, privado y muy tranquilo lugar.
A trully beautiful house, nicely decorated with a lovely garden. It was clean and really big, kitchen was well equipped and everything was cozy. Unfortunately it is too far away from everything and the nearest transmetro bus stop is 15 minutes away, so it feels a bit isolated. Our only contact with Kristina was via emails, and the lady that showed us around was nice but didnt speak a word of english. That resulted in us not having the local contact we are after when using airbnb. Not really recommended for first time visitors of guatemala city.
Kristina's flat was absolutely perfect for my trip to Guatemala City. I was in Guatemala for 10 days for work, and needed a space to work between meetings as well as sleep. The flat has plenty of space, two floors and a big table to work at.
The garden is incredible - completely unexpected somewhere so urban. Surprisingly large and completely private. I particularly enjoyed coffee in the garden every morning watching hummingbirds flying around.
The cleaners were very efficient so the place was spotless.
The apartment feels very safe, it is hidden behind a non-descript garage doors, and down several flights of steps, so you can't tell it is there from the street.
The only disadvantage is that you can't walk to anywhere to get food - but that is true of anywhere in Guatemala City unless there is a shop or cafe right next door. Taxis arrive quickly and are cheap, so that isn't a major problem.
I'll be back in Guatemala in a few months time, and will definitely stay there again if it is free.
Kristina was an outstanding host. Her place is exactly as described and a wonderful respite in Guatemala City. The location was excellent and the set-up was very peaceful. Kristina made it very easy to access and overall, it was simply a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend Kristina's place and would be very glad to stay there again.
