We have a 3-bedroom, 3-bath cabin in Lost River, WV. It has Internet and heat (floor units). It is two levels with the bedrooms on the second floor. It's in the heart of gay WV and is a nice mix of local and DC weekenders. The master bedroom has a queen-size bed and walk-out balcony. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed. The third bedroom has two twin-size beds. The sofa in the living room folds out to a full-size bed.
This listing is adjacent to our other listing: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/581434 . We've owned the other listing since 2005, and this listing was just finished in March 2003. This means that there's a chance our family may be using the other unit, or we may rent it out. Thus, it's best to assume you'll not be completely secluded.
We have a current Airbnb listing for our DC apartment and decided to try to rent out our WV vacation home.
The cabin has a landline (shared between the two units) but there is no cell phone reception. We have high-speed DSL Internet as well as Hulu Plus and streaming Netflix.
We're roughly 10 miles from Wardensville, WV and roughly 30 miles from Moorefield, WV. Moorefield is a good town for Walmart, lunch, and a movie theatre and bowling alley.
Very close by are two restaurants: the Lost River Grill (5 miles away) and The Guesthouse Lost River (3.8 miles away). The former is more low-key, and the latter is a bit more upper-scale.
Trout Pond Recreation Area (about 5 minutes away by car) provides a nice lake that you can walk around (and swim in during summer), a camping area, and a playground for kids.
We live in DC, but there's always the chance that we may be staying in the other unit. Or we may rent out the other unit.
SECLUSION UPGRADE: If you're interested in full seclusion, we can forego renting the other unit for an additional fee. (In other words, yes, you'd be paying us to *not* rent the other side.)

My friends and I had a wonderful time at Kelly's WV cabin. The cabin was cozy and welcoming, the scenery was picturesque, and Kelly was great to work with. It was the perfect weekend escape from DC!
Great, newly-built cottage at a great location with an easy 2-hour drive from Washington, DC. Absolutely lovely hosts, easy to communicate with and very accommodating. I can't recommend it high enough!
The cabin really is great, it is exactly looking like in the pictures. We enjoyed our stay very much. The kitchen is well prepared and you find everything you need. Kelly was very nice and easy to communicate with. The locaton is ideal for relaxing!
Unit B was great. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen/living area spacious. We loved the screened in patio area which was perfect for a WV Summer evening. Kelly was wonderful as well. The tips and tricks were super helpful. It is very clear that they want to make your stay as good as possible. All around great.
The area is so beautiful. This is my second stay at this house. Last time I stayed in side A. This time I stayed in the larger of the two sides because I wanted to take advantage of the screened in porch while working on a business project that I knew I would not finish with the distractions of the city. The trip was peaceful and serene. The cabin was beautiful. Even without air conditioning, the cabin was cool on days that proved to be the hottest in July. Kelly is great to work with and so quick to respond. I can't wait to go back, next time with a stack of novels instead of a work project.
Kelly was great. The cabin had everything we needed. At first I couldn't find coffee filters, but a text to Kelly and a quick reply back led me right to them! Even in the middle of nowhere, when you want to get away from technology, it was helpful to have it. I had never used Roku for watching TV, but after the kids went to bed, my wife and I enjoyed surfing for old TV shows and German News feeds. I think we'll be ditching our cable soon. My family and I stayed for a weekend and visited the Shenandoah Caverns. It's only a 40 minute drive, and the scenery is beautiful. We also visited Trout Pond Recreation area, which is only a 5 minute drive. The kids enjoyed the sandy beach and the large playground. While eating breakfast in the screened in porch, my daughter and I watched some deer walk through the yard. There are many more beautiful places to see out there, so I'm sure we'll be back.
Kelly worked me on short notice to arrange a weekend getaway. I stayed in Unit B, which is newly completed and very comfortable. It has all the comforts and amenities of home with nature at the doorstep. It was a pleasure working with Kelly and this Lost River property is great and in a good location.
