Youghal at a Glance
The town of Youghal dates from early Christian times and mirrors many facets of Irish History, blending the heritage of centuries with a modern Seaside Holiday Resort. Situated on the South Cost of Ireland, at the mouth of the River Backwater, it is only 30 miles east of Cork City. The Town Walls of Youghal date back to the 13th century and are among the best preserved in Ireland. The Clock Gate, built in 1777, to replace the Medieval Trinity Gate, straddles the Main Street, and Tynte's Castle is a 15th century Fortified Tower.
The remains of the 14th century Benedictine Abbey - St. John's Priory, The Red House, a fine 18th century Queen Anne Style Town House and the Alms Houses, built in 1610 and still in use, are all situated in the town. Myrtle Grove is the 16th century house and home of Sir Walter Raleigh, and St. Mary's Collegiate Church is one of the oldest churches still in use in Ireland, dating from 1220. The main street of Youghal has attractive 19th century shop fronts on the original Medieval Sites. The Heritage Centre Exhibition tells the story of Youghal from early times. Walking Tours of the town, following in the footsteps of Sir Walter Raleigh, Edmund Spenser and Sir Richard Boyle, are available daily in season at 11a.m. and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Youghal boasts one of the finest and safest beaches in Ireland, with E.U. Blue Flags Award. Youghal has a wide variety of sports, clubs and venues. A visit is a must to Youghal Visitor Centre, Market Square, Youghal.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for the wonderful experience of staying with you. I'm so glad that we decided to stay in Youghal for a night and even happier that we stayed with you. Your house was just perfect for us, your breakfast was one of the best I had in Ireland, and you were just so sweet.

What a wonderful break we had in Youghal. helped by the most welcoming host of Glen House B and B, we couldn't have asked for better hospitality. The breakfast was amazing and Mary catered to our specific timings as well as our tastes. The room was large and had a beautiful view looking out to the sea. Our host also acted as a tour guide, advising us of restaurants and pubs we must see as well as the best towns, villages and attractions.
Perfect stay with a perfect host.
Thanks again Mary.

Mary is a wonderful host, who from the moment we arrived at Glen House made us feel very welcome & at home. Our room, with its uninterrupted view of Youghal harbour was spacious & very comfortable. We did appreciate being able to make a cup of tea for ourselves in our room whenever we wanted to!
Glen House is in a very quiet area, within walking distance of the town amenities.
Thank you Mary for the very tasty breakfasts & for your guidance in what to explore around Youghal. We will remember our time with you for many years to come.

We had a wonderful stay at Glen House. Mary was an excellent hostess, making sure we had everything we needed and were comfortable. And what a chef! Breakfast was delicious, filling, and timely. Her location is excellent- easy walking into Youghal, and what a view of the town and water. Our room was very clean and spacious- bathroom was especially nice. We would highly recommend saying here to anyone who enjoys quaint and comfortable accommodation, warm hospitality, and a good food. Only wish we had more time to spend there!
We stayed with Mary in Youghal for sadly only 1 night. Mary was very helpful and accommodating. The position is fantastic, rooms quiet and spacious and breakfast plentiful. We travelled as 2 couples and had a separate section to ourselves which was appreciated. Internet connection was a little sketchy in bedrooms bit good in dining room. Mary made us feel very welcome. Youghal was one of our favourite towns and we were sad to leave it.
Mary took me in last minute and off season. I drove from Dublin and she was up ready to show me my room and all the necessary details. In the morning she prepared a wonderful breakfast and visited with me helping me figure out the lay of the land. Youghal is a beautiful seaside village with some amazing sites on its own but a short drive to neighboring towns and Cobh. The palace was clean cozy and warm. Easy to find and Mary is the sweetest thing. She really makes you feel at home.
Mary was a most accommodating host. The property is well located and the rooms clean and comfortable.
