The space

The Garden Apartment at Swallows Rest is a large self-contained apartment on the edge of Wicklow Town. The apartment offers spacious accommodation for up to 6 people. With a large private garden this property is ideal for families visiting Wicklow.

The kitchen is fully equipped and comes with dishwasher, washer/dryer. There is an oven with separate hob and a microwave. There is a large fridge/freezer. There is a table and seating for 6 in the kitchen

The double bedroom is ensuite and has a queen sized bed. There is also a 32' wall mounted flat screen TV with 'free to air' satellite TV.

The second bedroom has two single beds and a patio door to the garden. There is an additional shower room beside this room.

The large living room has plenty of space. Enjoy 'free-to-air' satellite TV (30+ channels) and a DVD player.

The third bedroom also has a queen sized bed. This bedroom is accessed via double door from the living room.

The large private garden has plenty of privacy for you to enjoy. It is mature and very pleasant to sit in on a fine summer's evening. Try dining outside with a glass of wine and watch the sun set over the mountains.

Wicklow town has an abundance of shops, restaurants and great pubs (some with live music every night). It is an easy 15 minute downhill walk into town. You might prefer to get a taxi home as it is an uphill walk back!!

There are some great beaches on the east coast of Ireland. One of the finest, Brittas Bay, is only 15 minutes away by car.

For golfers there are many great courses within a 30 minute drive.

The owners of the apartment live in the accommodation above the apartment. We are here to help and to guide you towards the best local tourist attractions. Dublin is only 35 - 45 minutes away so while you have all the attractions of a rural retreat you have the excitement of the city firmly within your grasp if you wish to spend a day in the capital city.

Guest access

There is a large garden for guests to enjoy. We encourage guests to enjoy this as it is beautiful with plenty of bird activity.

Interaction with guests

Guests will be personally welcomed to the property and shown around. Although there is information on how things work we will generally run through everything with guests to make sure they are happy with everything. We are available after that for any questions. We leave the guests then to get on with their holiday.

Lovely accommodations! Ian was accessible when we had questions, and made Swallows Rest feel like home! Only hiccup was finding the place at first, but as soon as we called Ian, we found it no problem! Better than advertised, and I would highly recommend staying.

The property was lovely -- very light inside, with plenty of space for a group to relax. Outside was brilliant too; the large patio had a great view and the owner let us use the bbq. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Our only criticisms: it would have been useful to have soap in the bathrooms, and the directions are a bit dated. The single carriageway has been expanded to dual, which made the Beehive pub hard to spot. We probably should have checked that our mobiles could get online before we set off... Regardless, this place was great and I'd highly recommend it!

Hello All, Well, I'm here to tell you that you couldn't find a more responsive and caring host! From the moment we arrived Ian made us feel like the apartment was our home (even making sure there was tea, milk, and sugar ready to go!!!). Even with our unusual requirements for heat in the apartment (we, my wife and FOUR daughters, are from Texas, and can't take the cold!), Ian was on the ball, reprogramming his heating system to fit our needs. Everything in the apartment was spotless! And my wife is a "Clean Freak!" so a nod from her says a LOT! :-))) The beds and furniture were in excellent condition and very comfortable. When you stay in this apartment, you feel like you have your own little house in the Irish countryside! You wake up, make a cuppa, and walk out on to your own patio, and take in the amazing country views, and listen to the larks! Brilliant! And as for convenient, it is very close to the town, within walking distance, but I'm too lazy! And also close to the ocean. Really, with Ian as the host, the apartment as our home, Wicklow as our town, and a great time at my brother's wedding... Well, it couldn't have been any better! Ian, thanks for everything, and hope to see you again soon! Brian & Luciana

Swallows Rest was a delightful place high on the hill above Wicklow Town. Ian and his family live in the beautiful house above and this is just below them. Ian was so friendly and helpful. The apartment is huge- with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, a nice living room and kitchen. Everything was spotless. Ian thought we could walk to town but it would have been a long walk back uphill, so we drove! He pointed out some places to eat and the good pubs. He's got a bunch of brochures and a very well-written "book" about the place and surrounding areas. Our favorites were Druids Glen Golf Club - the "Augusta" of Ireland, and Glendalough and Wicklow National Park (lovely walking trails!). It was a quick and easy drive back to Dublin airport too. Well worth it! Thank you Ian!

Easy going welcoming host! I enjoy meeting our guests and am happy to give guidance on where to go and visit. If I am not checking guests in myself I have deputies who are great (probably better at the process than I am in reality!)

The measure of any host is in the reviews received from guests so I urge any potential guests to check out the reviews to date which I hope will give a flavour as to how we operate. While not perfect I hope that you will get the general idea.

Started off with my own personal listings and then moved on and started working with others as a Property Manager for friends and colleagues.

Each property is treated equally and I aim to make sure that the properties are well maintained and presented. I continuously work on making improvements, where possible, to enhance each of the properties. I realise the importance guests attach to good accommodation standards and as a traveller myself I know what I like when I get to a rental property.
