Beautiful, newly renovated 1 Br/1 Bath with laundry/dishwasher, hardwood floors, lots of light/windows in a small, quiet historic building.
It's ideally located for trips all over the city: Half a block to bus line taking you to all the downtown sights in 15 minutes; half a mile to the Columbia Heights metro (green/yellow lines), where there is a fun assortment of bars and eateries, as well as a Target, Best Buy, etc. for any emergency purchases.
There is a full-sized bed in the bedroom and a pull-out couch that sleeps two in the living room.
There is a bicycle you can borrow to see the city on two wheels. Other amenities include wifi and a wireless printer.
The kitchen is stocked with coffee/tea and a few light breakfast items like bread, eggs and oatmeal. There are a few different grocery stores under a mile from here you can go to stock up for your stay if you'd like to cook at home.
Parking: Frankly, visitor parking is a hassle on my block. It's street parking only and during the day it is limited to residents. Parking in the city is a hassle in general, though, and can get expensive. I suggest that visitors leave the car at home unless you plan to visit some off-the-beaten track places you can't reach by public transit.
I'm happy to help you plan your sightseeing itinerary or answer any other questions about your stay.
While I'm new to renting on this site, I have plenty of references from prior tenants/guests I'm happy to share on request!
My stay in April's apartment was short, but I enjoyed a lot. The place is in the quiet neighbourhood, but still close to the main attractions of Washington.
April has a lovely apartment and although we haven't met, she was a good host, leaving me all the instructions and facilitating my stay.
Hope to come back again!
April was easy to contact and left great directions and explanations for her apt. It was exactly as she described it, very cozy and welcoming. The walk to Metro was easy and safe and it was a quick ride to the monuments. We really enjoyed staying here and recommend it for friends or couples traveling to DC. Overall a great experience.
Cute and comfortable apartment! Nice big kitchen - host left us a french press and delicious coffee which made every morning a relaxing treat. Quiet and pretty building with easy parking on the weekend. Close to at least two Capital Bikeshare stations - we didn't need a car or public transit for any of our site seeing! Only one minor drawback - apartment has a water heater that needs to be turned on about 30 mins before taking a shower - this is no problem for vacationing folks, but requires planning for those who must be up and out quickly in the morning (or for folks who want to shower as soon as they walk in the door). All in all, a nice place.
