Sunny apartment with sunset views of entire city - you can see the empire state building from the bed! The most famous Brooklyn bars, restaurants and dance clubs that put Williamsburg on the map are by Bedford L stop and walking distance from here.
Private room available in a 2 bedroom. We tend to be away on weekends, so you can often have the place to yourself. Short term or long term OK - be in touch for long term deals. If you want to rent out the whole place that is an option too.
The apartment is 2 blocks from the waterfront and located half a block to the main shopping/restaurant street, Bedford Avenue, in the heart of Williamsburg. 10 mins in a cab to Manhattan from here if you want the nightlife over there too.
Our private patio is almost 400sq ft with views of the water, Williamsburg bridge, and the Freedom tower in downtown Manhattan. The SUNSETS over the city are the best!
The entire apartment space is about 3 times the size of a typical NYC apt at 1500sq ft.
I'd like to express that we really like being Airbnb hosts. We are known in our group of friends as the couple that always has guests over as we constantly fill our spare room up with friends/family, friends of friends, or airbnb guests. We started hosting in order to pay for our wedding but after the wedding was paid off, we realized we missed having more guests! So we keep on hosting! Please do make yourselves at home... really! I'm happy to offer advice on cool places in NYC even if you decide not to book here so feel free to ask me questions. I hate to imagine people missing the best parts of my city or being steered toward an apartment listed as "heart of Williamsburg" that is actually the outskirts and not a good street. I will be as helpful as I can.
-Bedford L train stop (very safe stop even at 3am and runs all night long) - Only one stop to Manhattan. Center of activity is here.
-JMZ train - One stop to lower Manhattan
-The N5th ferry which takes you to midtown manhattan 15 mins across the river (runs only until 8pm)
-A million restaurants to try such as Maison Premiere oyster bar, PT, Radagast Hall, Peter Lugar's Steak house, and many more (we will provide a list when you arrive if you like).
The Bedford L stop on the train is the center of Williamsburg -- some other subway stops further east are considered the outskirts. This area has the majority of the shopping and restaurants as well as plenty of cabs. It is very safe and active even late at night so I recommend if you are visiting Williamsburg the first time to book a place near here by the Bedford L stop or as close as you can.
All we ask is that there are no parties and no pets or nuts in the house due to children who visit with allergies. Our neighbors are wonderful, and we wouldn't want anything to disturb them (small dinner parties acceptable).
Mid Dec 20145 - Spring of 2015 - guests please note: we are dog-sitting a small, loving, non-shedding, non-allergy pup. If you book, it's best to be a dog lover because this little pup is a cutie. Not sure how many week/months she will be here, but will update when I find out. She can stay at my brother's if you don't like dogs.
My favorite way to get to the city is using the nearby ferry -- I take it even in winter. However, we are nearby the Bedford L stop and Marcy JMZ trains that are just one stop to Manhattan
Our neighbors also Airbnb so if you want to bring more freinds/family with you, we can set up both apartments...complete with next door patios! Contact me to book that scenario.
Please note that this is the listing for the room. If you prefer to book the whole place, just message me. Thanks.
You can use everything -- the patio, kitchen, dishwasher, living room, dining table, bathroom and WiFi.
There is a guest computer by my desk you can use in the evenings too.
Only thing you don't have access to is my desk area and the second bedroom.
There is an espresso machine and a french press for coffee in the kitchen.
For music, there is a jambox bluetooth speaker in your room so you can play music here or take it on a picnic. We also have wifi speakers.
An outlet by the bed with 4 USB spots will allow you to plug in your phone without having to worry about international outlets if you are traveling from abroad.
As long as you use these common areas and items with respect, we are cool.
Kitchen has a dishwasher and you are welcome to use our cooking tools and wine glasses and all. Everything in the house is provided from dishes to bath towels. I even pick up all those little hotel bottles of shampoo from my many business trips so you can use them.
We have a Nest thermostat for heat and air conditioning control.
Interaction with Guests
We love hosting new people and having guests back again. You are most welcome to make yourself at home here.
I am presently putting together a mega-book that is a guide to all my favorite places in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I also made a small subway map that I'll give you when you arrive.
If you have good timing, you can join into one of the dinners we have with our neighbors when we grill on the patio. Or catch me on a day working from home so I can make waffles in the morning :)
I travel a lot, so at times you will have the whole place to yourself. Sometimes, I'm in meetings all day so I won't be able to make you coffee on those days. Other days, my assistant and I are in the back area of the apartment mounting artwork. It's the freelance life! No matter what, I can arrange for my brother or neighbor to let you in if I'm stuck in a meeting when your flight arrives.
Our neighbor also hosts Airbnb so you can get both apartments if you have friends visiting. He's also a great friend and really helpful if I'm not home and you need anything.
I can set you up with recommendations or an itinerary of things to do nearby if you like. I love showing off my neighborhood.
I've even written itineraries for guests not booked with us :)
Williamsburg Brooklyn is undeniably the trendiest neighborhood in NYC right now. It doesn't get more fun that this. I used to live in Manhattan, but now that I actually see the city skyline every day, I feel even more like a New Yorker.
Williamsburg is typically know for: outdoor festivals, live music, art, vintage stores, new designers, cutting edge food, rooftop parties, fashion, bike culture, hipsters, interior design, and my favorite part about Brooklyn: a friendly neighborhood community.
We are in Williamsburg proper here at Bedford Ave, not just a nearby subway stop to it or a far walk away. The waterfront area is the most desirable part of Williamsburg, and Bedford ave is the main street. Everything is close, and neighborhood is safe. There are people out and about all day/night hitting the nearby restaurants and bars. This is the first subway stop in Brooklyn from Manhattan, and the first Brooklyn neighborhood right off the bridge.
The Bedford L train, JMZ, and ferry are all walking distance.
Other Things to Note
Please don't lose our key because we will have to charge you the cost of replacing the lock at $90. We take security in the building very seriously : there is video outside of the building that surveys the area for strangers, video intercom, an alarm directly linked to the police station, etc. We are all set up here even though it's a very safe neighborhood in a community that looks out for each other. The neighbors are all wonderful.
On mailing packages here: If you need something sent ahead like a box or suitcase, I can help you direct your packages to the nearby UPS/Fedex office. We can help you pick them up when you arrive in NYC. Though we used to let guests send directly to our apartment, the UPS/Fedex deliveries recently got a little out of control (OMG so many huge heavy boxes in one week!)
If you would like laundry done, you can use the pick-up/drop-off service that we use. Bag up your laundry in the morning (or night before), and it will be ready by 7pm in the evening all folded for you. The charge depends on weight but it is typically $10 to $20.
Check-in and check out is flexible, but usually mimics times that a hotel typically would keep. Unless you arrange otherwise with me, check out is at noon so that the cleaning person has enough time to turn over the room if there is another guest for a 1pm check in. We try not to book guests back-to-back so that you get flexibility of arriving at 6am and checking out at 7pm, for example, but do communicate with me about the timing as early as you can.
If you have a late flight and would like to leave your bags in the living room during the day while the cleaning service turns over the room, you may do that. Just give me a heads up.
Smoking on patio only please.
No nuts in the house of any kind due to children with allaergies. This includes peanut butter, pesto on pasta or even any kind of almond oil (or similar) you use is the shower. I provide lotion and hair care in case you don't bring any.
You are most welcome to our liquor-- just replace what you drink if in excess or leave some cash behind to replace .
We allergic to animal fur-- like major asthma attack allergic. If your clothes are covered in cat hair from your pet at home, this is not the right sublet for you to book.
If you want to rent bikes, I can help you do that, but please do mind the signs where you can/can't park bikes -- they are not allowed in the halls by the elevators or stairways.
Please use coasters if you like to put your drink on top of one of the antique wood cabinets… or better yet, use the tables :)
No nuts or peanuts in the house. I know it's a weird one, but my little cousin is allergic (as well as many other children that visit), and I need to know she is safe when she visits me. Please go without peanut butter during your stay unless you can live with the guilt of sending a little kid to the hospital.
If you book the room, please be one of the people staying here. The only less-than-awesome experience we have had here was when someone surprised us and booked for another person.

We just left Lacey's apartment and are a little sad that our stay was so short!
If you need a place to stay in Brooklyn you should stay there. They were both very welcoming, relaxed and helpful. The apartment is beautifully decorated and the view was absolutely stunning. Lacey's restaurant recommendations were incredible! We would definitely stay at their place again! Thanks again!

We had a great time at Lacey and Stu's place! Lovely neighbourhood/ location, nice and very hospitable people (cute dog!) and great views from both the room and the patio. We would definately recommend staying there :)
Lacey and Stuart are great hosts - super friendly and accommodating - their apt comfortable and inviting and Williamsburg is a great neighbourhood to base yourself when in NYC. Highly recommended.
I had a great time at Stu and Lacey's apartment. They're great hosts, always ready to help you out. The apartment is great and exceptionally located. Williamsburg European feel is awesome and really well connected to the rest of the city
Lacey and Stu were great hosts, friendly and helpful. The location was great to discover both Brooklyn and Manhattan. We had a great a time.
NYC city designer living in the best neighborhood the city offers: the new art and music scene in Brooklyn.
It's hard to tear me away from here, but my work requires some travel often. I like to share the place.
Hope you enjoy having some wine on the patio during a sunset as much as my husband and I do. He works long hours so you may not get meet him, but everyone loves him. We often travel together for work.
My brother lives nearby which is so nice for me, and also handy if you need anything while staying here if I'm not home. When I am in town, I tend to work on my computer in the office area. As a designer, the schedule is really flexible. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions if you need to know anything about me or the place. Thanks!
