Sunny room with comfortable queen bed and sitting area. Rustic charming house is close to bus stop, town, hiking/biking trails. Easy access to SF by ferry or bus. Local books/maps on hiking and biking will help decide which of many places to visit---Muir Woods, Pt Reyes, Golden Gate Recreational Area, Mt Tam State Park, Angel Island.
Breakfast foods available. Use of well equipped kitchen. Please note that there is one bathroom in the house and it is shared. I can easily adjust my schedule to make sure guest have lots of time uninterrupted when needed.
The house is two blocks from quaint downtown San Anselmo with coffee shops, restaurants, bookstore and independent shops. Fairfax, a town with more music at night, is one mile west. Moving further on, the towns get smaller and the farm/ranch/open spaces get bigger. The Bear Valley visitor center at Pt Reyes is a 35 minute drive or you can take the West Marin Stage public transportation from the bus stop two blocks away.
You can also take the ferry from nearby Larkspur for a relaxing cruise to the Ferry Building in San Francisco and take BART or MUNI for an evening on the town.
This area can also be a base for trips to the wine country in Sonoma or Napa. The town of Sonoma is another 35 minutes away.
The bedroom room and sitting area. The garden with several places to sit. The kitchen in the morning---and space in the refrigerator. For longer visits or guest with special food needs, please ask me.
Washer and dryer are not for guest use. But ask me if you have some items to wash on a longer visit (or a spot you need to remove). We have a drought and I only wash when there is a full load.
Interaction with Guests
I try to find out what is comfortable.
Each guest situation is different. I am happy to talk about the area and its sights. And to bring out maps and books---or to leave them for guests choose.
There is a bus stop two blocks away.
Look for consideration on both parts. Breakfast foods will be available for guests to cook for themselves. Light kitchen use can be arranged as well. This house is small but there are many doors as in many vintage houses. These can be closed to reduce noise in most situations.
The expectation is for quiet time after 10:00 pm. Any exception to be discussed. Reasonable requests encouraged.
We are thankful for the experience staying in Nancy's home. Her home is beautiful and she was very accommodating.
From the minute I arrived I felt welcomed and opening received by Nancy. Her home was warm, cozy, impeccably clean, nicely organized and not a thing was lacking to make any guest comfortable. I slept well and was offered a particularly excellent serving of hot coffee in the mornings. That was more than expected. I thoroughly enjoyed our "getting to know each other" chats in her living room by the fire as well as our passing conversations, either first thing in the morning or as we would come in and out from our separate days' schedules. She is a delightful host. She was also extremely helpful providing me with trail maps and road directions for hikes I took with family I was visiting over these recent holidays.
Her neighborhood is a quick and enjoyable walk to town where one can find all sorts of great boutiques, restaurants, coffee shops , grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, and more. Her street is a private tree-lined street with no noise from neighbors or passing vehicles. Perfect!
My stay in San Anselmo was great, very nice, and i love the place!
Nancy is a great person and a friend now!
Nancy was very welcoming and never did I feel like I was imposing on her. The home is lovely and the room spacious. The bed was very comfy. Sweet, quiet neighborhood close to downtown. Wish I had more time to walk around the neighborhood or into town. Would definitely stay there again. Super clean and pleasant decor.
Nancy's home and garden are very warm and sunny. She sent me clear instructions beforehand on how to enter the house and care for things as she likes. It was easy to get settled in, the bed was very comfortable. I had the privilege of being able to talk to Nancy for some time, and she gave me a tour of her garden. She is a generous and friendly hostess; you couldn't find a better place to stay in San Anselmo.
Nancy is very organized, welcoming, and always responded quickly. She was very accommodating when I needed to change my plans a bit. Her home was spotless, comfortable, and convenient, in a charming, quiet neighborhood. I felt very relaxed and comfortable there and enjoyed my short stay. I would definitely stay there again.
Nancy was the perfect host and extremely helpful. The house was peaceful, very clean and just as described in a nice neighbourhood. It is situated just a few minutes walk from downtown San Anselmo. I cannot recommend this listing enough. '
I would give her a five star + rating if that was possible!
