Beautiful quiet neighborhood only 10 minutes from Laguna Beach. The bedroom with attached private bathroom is perfect for a couple (or family of 3) visiting California. Between LA and San Diego, we are located between many attractions.
This tranquil Junior Suite includes a private, adjacent luxurious bathroom. We can easily accommodate singles, couples, or a small family (up to 3).
Between sightseeing you might enjoy a game of ping-pong or bouncing on the 14 foot, enclosed trampoline. We have wireless internet and places to plug in your electronic devices. (If you are traveling with family, please review the pricing for more than 2 guests.)
The private room holds a full-size bed (with a twin size trundle if you are traveling with a small child). Plus, additional full-size pull-out sofa bed, useful for bigger kids or teens who may not want to be in the room with parents in the loft space nearby, or friends traveling together.
Guests will have private bedroom/bath. Access to kitchen and laundry facilities. If you stay more than one night, you will be given a key to come and go as you need.
Interaction with Guests
I am always available to answer questions and help out with your travel plans. I love sharing some coffee and a light breakfast with guests who have the time. Some guests are here for work/training, so they just don't have time to spare. I will always take the time to recommend a restaurant or print up some directions.
A perfect "home base" for a trip to Disneyland, Laguna Beach, or for touring the other cities, sites and attractions in So Cal.
In 2009, Aliso Viejo was listed as one of “America's Top 25 Towns to Live Well” by Forbes online. Our parks and sports facilities are top noch. We are a 10 min drive to Laguna Beach's fabulous art galleries, festivals, live theater, nightlife, and world class restaurants. 10 minutes the other direction is Irvine Spectrum, an outdoor walking mall and entertainment venue (with the popular Improv Comedy Club headliners from LA). Our street is family-oriented. Definitely in the suburbs, but with great parks and close to the highways. It's quiet and serene in the evenings.
The residence is in a neighborhood with kids, so it is generally quiet after 9pm (for example, no music blasting after 9pm) and we expect that you will respect that requirement during your stay.
Public transportation is available, but very limited. I recommend that you have or rent a car. Parking space is easily available on our street.
Other Things to Note
Backyard includes a full patio with gas barbeque. Nearby parks with basketball, tennis and hiking trails for active vacationers.
Our location is great for active kids or restless adults. During your stay, you will have access to all kinds of beach and sports equipment. Enjoy your trip!
Guests should be considerate about the use of shared space and accommodations, such as washer/dryer machines and kitchen, since this is a family residence with a family living here. We are flexible people and will work with you on nearly anything you need if you can just communicate it with us. Our house rules are: Food and drinks are not allowed upstairs, only in the kitchen and dining area. (Except water. Water may be taken anywhere in the house). Shoes are allowed on the ground floor only. Shoes are not welcome on the carpeted 2nd story of the home. We have no pets at the moment. (Please do not bring pets with you- we have allergies here.) Breakfast is available on a serve-yourself basis. Hot coffee and juice with every breakfast. You will provide all other food/drink for yourself/your party- unless otherwise arranged. Alcohol will be consumed in moderation only in our home. Smoking of any kind is not allowed on the property (no e-cigarettes or vapor cigarettes either, please). We must have your cell phone number and all emergency information at the beginning of your stay. Wireless internet is available. The residence is in a neighborhood with kids, so it is generally quiet after 9pm (for example, no music blasting after 9pm) and we expect that you will respect that requirement during your stay. Parking is available on both sides of the street. Please use our driveway for turning your car around, not those of our neighbors. Much appreciated.
Lovely first time experience!
Our room and bathroom were very clean, and Clair was kind and accommodating.
Great Experience. Space is just as listed.
This is our family second time staying with Claire's family and everything is just as perfect as we've experienced first time (back in half a year ago). The room is clean and full of sunshine (from as earlyas 8AM everyday). Claire and her family is very helpful and attentive, we truly feel like home during our 1 wk stay. All in all, this is a perfect anchor spot if you would like to explore South California (Irvine/Legoland/even San Diego).
I stayed in this home with 2 other girls- we were in the area for a yoga training and just needed a place to crash. We thought that having a real bed and a kitchen available would make our weekend trip more enjoyable, but I am honestly surprised by all of the amazing reviews for this space! Our 3 day stay got off to a rocky start when we arrived Thursday night to be ignored by the host's husband and the host herself seemed genuinely uncomfortable with us being there. We almost got the feeling that we were intruding on something, and although I was aware that this was a family home, I was surprised that her boys were so old and we all felt a little uncomfortable. That night we wanted to go right to bed, but the sound of the TV kept us up well into the early morning as well as the bright lights that were shining under the door. The bed was much smaller than we had thought and the extra bed that one of us would be sleeping in was more like a drawer that pulls out from under the bed and our 4:30am wake-up time was pretty much miserable after that! I mentioned the noise of the TV the next day and Claire seemed defensive and I felt embarrassed for having brought it up, but was really hoping to sleep better. At this point I still hadn't had any acknowledgment from her husband, which made me wonder if they were even okay with having us in their home. On the last day, I finally had some words with her husband, but unfortunately it was so that he could tell me he ate my $14 ceviche! We had been told we could store a little bit of our food in their fridge, but I wouldn't advise anyone else to do this if your food is expensive because they didn't offer to pay me back or buy more, which was very disappointing since it was my dinner after a long day of training. I was so embarrassed by this whole exchange! Her ad says there is breakfast on the weekends which we never saw and all-in-all, I would say that our stay felt more like an awkward visit with some relatives that don't really like you and I wondered several times if we had come at a bad time for them. I feel like I stayed in a completely different home from the one everyone else seems to be reviewing. Next time I will be staying in a hotel which costs the same amount as this room cost us. Overall, this home was messy, loud and uncomfortable.
Wow!! Jasmine, I'm truly sorry that your experience was not up to par with the usual stay in our home. I am not a fan of guests who harbor resentment over very minor matters and then blast the host in a review. We did apologize for the noise in the home on the first night, but also, I would have appreciated a heads-up that you would need to be sleeping by 9:30pm. That is early by any standard. Our kids were asleep by 9 and we would have accommodated had you mentioned this. We did, after the first night, shut down everything in the house early to accommodate you and your friends. I'm not sure why you were uncomfortable around my family as my husband was working from home (on his laptop) so he was just busy (not chatty) and my boys, while not toddlers, are only in their early teens - my oldest being 14 (not sure why you called them "old", he's just tall for his age). The beds are exactly as described in the listing, and the light in the hallway is totally under the guests' control.
I am not sure why you did not use the kitchen, because I said several times that you could cook there and you did not at all. We finished with dinner each night before you arrived back at the home, to have the kitchen clean and ready if you needed it. I made space for your items in my fridge. (Yes, my husband accidentally ate some of your food on the last day, which he then profusely apologized for, it was an honest mistake! You kept saying, "it's fine, it's fine". We will be sending you a refund of $15 for the cost of the ceviche!) I offered to make coffee for you in the mornings, but you said that you all preferred to have tea. I was asking all during your stay if things were good and you kept saying it was all good. I detailed the sleeping arrangements in my listing and I made the additional full size bed available to you, which you did not use. (Yes- it is not in the private room, but that is also VERY clear in the listing). I don't know if you actually read the listing, but food is not allowed upstairs, a rule you broke several times. I decided not to say anything since you seemed so stressed.... Apparently, you read the reviews, but not the listing to see if it would fit your needs.
I did not make breakfast on the weekend because you were out very early. Guests who have the leisure time to have breakfast with us do enjoy a relaxed weekend breakfast whenever possible on weekend days.
My advice is to read the listing carefully. I'm sorry you were additionally stressed during your training. We really did try to communicate with you, but saying "all is fine" is not a great way to go about being an airbnb guest. Please read the listing description and also ask for what you need from your host.
We had Avery warm experience , staying at Clair's Beautiful house. She is the perfect host, welcomed us with her big friendly smile, also we almost haven't had the time to have long talks, clair made all the efforts to make us comfortable. I highly recommend staying at Clair's house. Thank you
I felt welcome when i stayed at Claire's house. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. I booked lastminute (the same day) but she was still open to letting me stay over which was nice. The room and the house are clean, just like their shown in the pictures.
Claire is a multi tasking mom of a young active family offering an awesome new large private master suite in their like new home located in upscale Aliso Viejo neighborhood which is close to Laguna Beach. Do to heavy LA traffic we were later than expected in arriving and were greeted by her 14 yr old son who totally knew the checkin drill helping with our suit cases and escorting us to our suite. We stayed two nights and Claire had the coffee made and Pumpkin bread out every morning. She made us feel at home helping us to select local restaurants and things to do and see. Our last morning we enjoyed having extended conversation with her and her husband. The full size bed is comfortable and the private bath has an awesome shower.
When life keeps us grounded, the next best thing is opening our home (and hosting talents) to others who are traveling!! It's great to get a global perspective from a foreign traveler, or meet a neighbor from a not-so-far away city! I love sharing our city and our culture with others and hearing about their travels!
The near perfect weather spoils us for 11 months out of the year. We like to barbeque on the patio on warm evenings with a glass of wine or cold beer. Personally, I love Laguna Beach, the art scene, the comedy club at Irvine Spectrum, and all the museums, theatres, and amusement parks.
Staying in a home brings the local culture close and makes you feel "at home" in your new space! We find that every traveler has a different goal in mind - we've had everyone from tourist vacationers to people looking to relocate, to guests attending a nearby wedding for friends. Everyone is glad to have a spacious private room in a home that feels welcoming. Hope to meet you soon!!
