Romantic, private, cool in the summer, independent heat plus additional wood burning stove for the winter. Convenient location, fiber WIFI, easy access, gardens around, Florence in sight, peace and quiet in a Chianti old villa. Painting-like views from windows. Washing machine, BBQ and alfresco dining. Cooking class and wine tasting available!

The space
This apartment is an ideal retreat if you long for the privacy and quiet of the countryside, but still want to be in touch with Florence, and could use some fast unlimited WIFI.
The space used to be the carpenter's workshop of this villa in the hills south east of Florence.
It is small but quaint: 1 large bedroom with queen size bed, a kitchenette, a living area with sofa bed that sleeps one, and bathroom with shower.
Directly accessible from the large gardens, it comes with its private outdoor table with umbrella, and access to BBQ.
It lays under the shade of the cypresses, so it is always cool.
Safety box also available.

WARM IN THE WINTER: there is central gas heating, a cosy wood-burning stove, and super-comfy toasty bed warmers.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO READ THE HOUSE RULES THOROUGHLY BEFORE BOOKING. We really care about them being respected. Thanks!

Guest access
Unlimited fast WIFI, free parking, cooking class available, village with food supplies out the driveway.
This villa is ideal if you play the piano and wish to practice during your vacation: there is a well tuned Baby Grand Steinway in the common area, accessible to our guests.
Access to all private grounds: the sunny side garden, the shaded garden under the century-old holm oaks and the olive groves.
Numerous hikes start from our village, and a little forest is accessible without even leaving the property.
Also shared BBQ, picnic area and swing. (NOT A PLAYGROUND! Use at your own responsibility!)
We live in the building, so we are always here in case of need, or simply to share a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
We may be on vacation a few weeks in the summer, or a week end here and there. When so, there will always be someone on the premises to make sure you have assistance in case of need.

ADDITIONAL OFFERS AT THE VILLA:

Take a fun hands-on COOKING LESSON where you learn how to make pasta from scratch, then stay for dinner in the top of the villa: that includes your creations and a whole meal, including home-made dessert and wine. The bonus: beautiful views, unlimited toppings of wine, and coffee. And you don’t have to do the dishes!. Cost per person: 65€ Visa and MC welcome. If you wish to precede the class with a wine tour to our favorite nearby winery, add 55€ pp.
Detailed tour of the cantina, 4 Wines and transportation included.

Other things to note
- Standard check in time: after 4:00 pm, Standard check out time by 10:00 am. Both times are very flexible BUT PLEASE REQUEST IN ADVANCE if you'd like to arrive extra early, or leave later. We'd love to accommodate your needs compatibly with other guests.

- FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY: our informal garden has ropes and swings BUT IT IS NOT A PLAYGROUND. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

THE VILLAGE
Local deli, freshly baked bread, cheeses, wine and beer shop, veggie stand, great cappuccino and best butcher of the valley all right across the street, 5 minutes walk.
NO RESTAURANT WALKING DISTANCE, but you can buy all the food you need to make your own meals, and the local butcher also offers lasagne and grilled chicken and beverages, to eat there or take home.
Very nice family style trattoria only 5 minutes driving from home, serving great pizza, pasta, steak and more Italian food.

- OUR VILLA IS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT APPEARS ON THE MAP!
The tower is the top of the villa which sits on top of the hills on top of the village...Great views and breeze, but only 5 minutes walk from the little shops, (veggies, meats, freshly baked breads, cappuccino, and a rotisserie which also serves meals etc). A community center/bar will serve caffe and aperitivi. Great panoramic terrace. Plenty of hikes start from here.

My children are the 6th generation in this medieval villa, and when our budget doesn't allow us to travel, we like a little bit of the world to come to us. My grandfather - a personal hero of mine - hid and saved many lives (often complete strangers, and foreigners), from the fury of the Fascists and Nazis during WW2, in the many nooks and crannies of this old home; and this has created in his heirs a tradition of opening this home to strangers: we have been hosting since 2011. My husband Marco is a retired professional yachtsman, and now a talented and passionate cook; and together we have been offering wine tours and pasta making classes since 1998 with the Accidental Tourist. One of my favorite quotes is: "if you don't believe in connections, you miss them".
