Romantic, private, cool in the summer, additional wood burning stove for the winter. Convenient location, optic fiber WIFI, easy access, gardens around, Florence in sight, peace and quiet in a Chianti old villa. Painting-like views from windows. Washing machine, BBQ and alfresco dining.

The space

This apartment is an ideal retreat if you long for the privacy and quiet of the countryside, but still want to be in touch with Florence, and could use some fast unlimited WIFI. (Just installed!).
This space used to be the carpenter's workshop of this villa in the hills south east of Florence.
It is small but quaint: 1 large bedroom with queen size bed, a kitchenette, a living area with sofa bed that sleeps one, and bathroom with shower.
Directly accessible from the large gardens, it comes with its private outdoor table with umbrella, and access to BBQ.
It lays under the shade of the cypresses, so it is always cool.
Safety box also available.
For the winter, there is central gas heating, a cosy wood-burning stove, and super-comfy toasty bed warmers.
Available in the winter months for minimal daily fee, heat paid separately based on consumption.

Guest access

Unlimited fast WIFI, free parking, BBQ in the common garden, cooking class available, village with food supplies out the driveway.
This villa is ideal if you play the piano and wish to practice during your vacation: there is a well tuned Baby Grand Steinway in the common area, accessible to our guests.
Access to all private grounds: the sunny side garden, the shaded garden under the century-old holm oaks and the olive groves.
Numerous hikes start from our village, and a little forest is accessible without even leaving the property.
Also shared BBQ, picnic area and swing. (NOT A PLAYGROUND! Use at your own responsibility!)
If you play the piano and wish to practice during your vacation: there is a Baby Grand Steinway Piano made in 1899, in the common area, available to guests.

We live in the building, so we are always here in case of need, or simply to share a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.
We may be on vacation a few weeks in the summer, or a week end here and there. When so, there will always be someone on the premises to make sure you have assistance in case of need.

Take a fun hands-on COOKING LESSON where you learn how to make pasta from scratch, then stay for dinner in the top of the villa: that includes your creations and a whole meal, including home-made dessert and wine. The bonus: beautiful views, unlimited toppings of wine, and coffee. And you don’t have to do the dishes!. Cost per person: 60€ (can pay by credit card. 55€ for cash)

We had a large family trip. My elderly parents stayed in the apartment and the rest of us occupied the small castle and vault room. The apartment was a quaint, ground floor apartment with a nice view which worked out perfect for them. The kids played in the front lawns, we walked just down the road into town for food to cook up. We could have taken a short trip ride into Florence but had so much fun here we all just wanted to hang around the castle. We all had a beautiful time!

We had a great time here. The apartment had everything we needed, and the view was stunning. We enjoyed some local cuisine that was recommended to us as well as a lovely hike up to the monastery that is under repair. We were only here here for a few days and wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed this tranquil setting. Would definitely return.

If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would! We had the most lovely, peaceful time at the castle and it truly is a wonderful experience staying here. We loved the wine Majla left for us, the little shops in the tiny village are quaint and extremely convenient and the views are spectacular! There's even stuff to do in the garden, like a basketball hoop and a hammock, and the cats and little dog are very friendly and great companions. We loved every minute we spent here and I'd recommend it to anyone!

I could not recommend this place more. The view is absolutely stunning into the valley and the flat is a spacious, clean, atmospheric and beautiful. The photos cannot do justice to how beautiful this space, town, and castle is. There are olive groves around the back for incredible romantic walks, and a space in front of the castle to hang out in a hammock or sit out for a picnic. The area is VERY local and there are a few wonderful shops around to grab everything you need, from grocers, to butchers and a fresh produce. If you are expecting a busy touristy place with lots of things to do, you're probably not going to get that. But if you are looking for a quiet, beautiful retreat to enjoy a simple life with those you love, making your own food and catching up on your reading, this is the place to be.

We had a great time at the studio. The view over the valley was fantastic, the village was off the beaten track and the people super friendly. It is close enough to Florence to visit it with ease and it is far enough to have peace and quiet and privacy. What a lovely experience. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Really great place! We are so glad we decided to go outside of Florence and taste some of the quiet Tuscan country side. We did the cooking class and wine tour and had a great time!

My children are the 6th generation in this medieval villa, and when our budget doesn't allow us to travel, we like a little bit of the world to come to us. My grandfather - a personal hero of mine - hid and saved many lives (often complete strangers, and foreigners), from the fury of the Fascists and Nazis during WW2, in the many nooks and crannies of this old home; and this has created in his heirs a tradition of opening this home to strangers.
I am more hospitable than impeccable...
I recently wrote a book about happiness.
My husband Marco is a retired professional yachtsman, and now a talented and passionate cook.
One of my favourite quotes is: "if you don't believe in connections, you miss them".
