  • We absolutely loved this hidden gem. We were welcomed by Ibu Ayu and Ibu Mungku and they were so friendly. They cooked for us several nights and it was delicious. We did a ceremony with Pak Mungku which was very special. Lot's of children from the village come to play which was great for our kids. Can def recommend this place

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Shirley’s beautiful and cozy place. This is for sure something different in Canggu! The combination of several styles, colours and views makes the nice atmosphere of this place.

Especially the teak house and veranda/pool around it looks beautiful also with all the great looking Indonesian furniture. It is 1 minute drive from the surf beach Batu Bolong and close to many other nice activities around. We loved everything is outdoors. The teakhouse because it is ‘open’ you get the breeze through the wooden panels and the fan above the bed was excellent. The pool is perfect to cool off, have a sunbath around it or have a sunset swim and watch the stars at night. The bathroom looks great with beautiful coloured tiles and wood, you can even open the door and have a look over the rice paddy or see the sunset during your shower.

The outdoor kitchen is convenient and offers everything you need, many times we went to the bakery next door to make our own breakfast. Our friends were coming for a few nights so it was perfect we had the guest room with a double bed and aircon for them. The family who lives next door is really friendly, they keep the place clean and well maintained and there cool daughter learned us some Indonesian. And we loved taking Maxie the most friendly house dog to the sunset beach and walking with him trough the rice fields.

Shirley thank you so much for your nice place, kindness and giving us good advise with our questions. We really hope we can come back again :)

  • Canggu Stay is an absolutely perfect place to stay for anyone looking for quiet time in a beautiful space in this friendly town, not too far to walk to the beaches, with loads of restaurants and local warungs to enjoy. The beautiful rooms (serviced) are incredibly quaint, thoughtfully designed, super clean, bright and airy, with all the features needed for independence including a lockable cabinet, as well as a half in-half outdoor kitchen for guests to use, with a few good appliances to sort out a meal. Shirley is a magnificent host and has a lovely team of employees who are helpful, kind and always smiling, all of whom are able to assist with just about any request. A massage at their Spa is a must! I highly recommend Canggu Stay, and I'll most definitely return here in the future.

  • We stayed a couple of days in this fantastic place up in the North of Bali, a highlight of our Bali stay and truly a Bali gem as it is a whole different experience than we found elsewhere.
The 2-3 hour drive up there is already a great pleasure as soon as you leave the busy roads of Kuta and Denpasar as there is so much to see. We drove through the Bali landscapes to the North coast amazed by all the different colours of green. Monkeys sitting next to the road, volcanos, fruit stales (lychees, strawberries everywhere), rivers and big crater/volcano lakes where we stopped for a nice meal.

Sudaji is a tiny village up in the mountains were the locals do not see any tourists, and the house is situated on the outskirts of this village. On arrival we were welcomed by the friendly staff who took our bags from the car to the house and cooked a nice lunch for us. We had an easy walk to the house greeted by the friendly locals who were working on the land. The house is made of an old Indonesian style teak wood design, Shirley how did you ever manage to get it there?!
The house is one nice room with a comfortable big bed and mosquito net, and a colourful outdoor bathroom. Outside one of us was sleeping on the day bed which was as well comfortable and breezy without mosquitos. Thanks to the solar power and batteries we were able to have cold beers, lights in the evening and charge our camera and phone. The best thing about the house is the veranda and space around it where you sit comfortably with a coffee in the morning or some sunset drinks and just admire the views in front of you.
The neighbour Pak Mungku took us for a nice walk and showed us his house and huge garden where we could pick many fruits ourselves. Its a five minute walk through the rice paddies to the river below were you can cool off with a dip and swim. Across the river we climb up again and ended up in a local ceremonie under a big tree which was really special.
The staff organised scooter bikes and we went sightseeing (markets, tempels) in the surroundings, went to visit Singaradja were we did shopping in the Carrefour supermarket and we went to Lovina in the early morning on a dolphin cruise.

The things we liked most was just sitting around the house, and relaxing in the hammock in the gazebo admiring the stunning views.
Thanks Shirley! Definitely we want to come back to visit your place again and go to the waterfall with Pak Mungku.

  • My experience with Canggu Dorm was positive. The place is clean and the stuff is very friendly. The driver, Komang, is great, he was of a great help and reliability while in Canggu and gave priceless recommendations for the further journey.
A bit of surprise: instead of rice fields there is a construction site in front of the rooms. I hope something nice is built there.
    Thank you for the stay!

  • We had a very nice stay at Shirley's place in Sudaji. It is quiet and set in lovely rice paddies. Really secluded and in the middle of nowhere -- the stars at night are amazing! We used Shirley's moped during our stay to get around the village and to town, which worked out great. We also ate at a local Warung down the road which was fantastic! All the local people are truly lovely. At first we were a bit confused about everyone coming up to the house and weren't sure what to make of it, but when you open yourself to this type of experience, it lends to some amazing interactions! We had a great time here and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in a unique and rural part of Bali. Shirley was very communicative and helpful with transport and suggestions for activities before our stay.

  • The teak house is truly a little bit of heaven in North Bali. We enjoyed every moment of our stay there. Completely secluded from the Bali tourism. The gladak is clean and has all you need. Shirley left us many tips on what to do and see in the area and Pak Mungu took us on some treks. Ibu Ayu and Ibu & Pak Mungku took good care of us. We hope to stay there again someday.Thank you Shirley. :)
