  • Hilary & Graham provided us with a fantastic experience. They have the best shower and obviously put a great deal of care and thought into the change of their 400 year old home to superb bnb. They are wonderful hosts, caring thoughtful and compassionate. We alas did not stay long enough but definitely will be back, particularly for the breakfast!

  • We had occasion to visit Chesterfield on relatively short notice and decided that we would prefer to stay just outside the town itself. We made the best decision. Hilary is an expert and conscientious host and her wonderful accommodation is ideal as a base to explore the area. Very comfortable beds, delightful views, brilliant hosts and some superb food combined to make a truly memorable stay. If you have cause to be in the area - I cannot imagine getting a better venue and host. From Craig, Margaret and myself - thank you.

    Response from Hilary:

Our pleasure, Mark. Hope to see you again sometime when you have time to sightsee in the area / enjoy the garden!

  • I cannot tell you how much I recommend staying here! Hilary and Graham were so kind and helpful, answering every question and solving every problem for my family (2 parents and a 3-yr old). And the private breakfast room is to die for--I didn't want to leave (and really didn't have to!). I'm trying to figure out when we can go to Derbyshire next, and when we do, we'll be staying here (unless you get it first!).

    Response from Hilary:

Well, we enjoyed it too. Trust the rest of your travelling went smoothly. Do come back soon! The snow has now gone (and so have the Easter eggs) ... and slowly the garden is waking up to Spring.

  • I couldn't be happier with my experience at Hilary's charming cottage... From the beautiful building to the comfortable room to the delicious breakfast - everything was perfect. HIlary and her husband are gracious and accommodating hosts who took time to make me feel warm and welcomed. I chose this location as my first stop on a countryside drive of England - and it was by far my favorite stop. Should I ever venture back across the pond, Hilary's cottage will be a must-visit destination.

Having hosted friends and contacts for many years, with many guests telling us we should open our house to more people, we have just launched our own B & B! We have enjoyed a lot of travelling throughout our lives, and we continue to enjoy meeting people from all countries and all walks of life. We consider our home to be an oasis from the busyness of life, and trust that guests will enjoy this aspect of Church Villa, too. We believe in quality and opportunity for everyone to enjoy their own company, and have translated this wish into well equipped bedrooms, and space to enjoy the house by setting aside a lounge and dining room to guests.
